really happy with this appointment, he has already worked within a budget compared to the other applicants so it was a no brainier really, I would have also been pleased if Barrow got the Job, it would be something if we could get him on board in some capacity but I doubt we could afford both. COYB

Did you want Barrow back? no not really, would of preferred redfearn or money myself, think redfearn would have sum decent contacts and money has done it in the conference, plus they would of probably wanted a decent salary, think bignott is a cheaper option but if he keeps this shower in the league you can't argue with that and I suppose it will be job done

The Clubs he's been at would have had bigger budgets than we can afford.

I'm really pleased with this appointment. Has spoken highly of the club, knows our ethos and has experience of this division. Experience is KEY, and Bignot is a perfect appointment for us. I hope he has a successful time here, but we need a home win fast. Hopefully it can be on Saturday which would be a fantastic start. All the best and good luck. Welcome to Chester FC Marcus.

You can have the best manager in the world, but if the team is rubbish (which it is) he won't stand a chance,we need to speculate to accumalate or we will be relegated,it's no use being a well run community club if all that happens is every year you get relegated, supporters will very quickly lose interest.

Hearing Graham Barrow withdraw his interest in the job; could be due to something happening elsewhere i.e Offered interview at Port Vale. Maybe even deciding to retire. Once he was out of the equation there was only one man for the job; Marcus Bignot.
Let’s get behind them from the start on Saturday, COYB 🔵⚪️

No way have we gone for the cheap option here. The cheap option would have been Shaw, McIntyre, Higgins, Reid etc

Excellent read and I believe we may have a gem .. I certainly hope so. I notice that at Solihull he says that he wanted a progression from youth football to first team and that included a reserve team. I certainly hope that we can finally have a reserve team which means good academy graduates won't be sitting in the stand every Saturday.

He's an absolute chancer who thought he could get his name in the limelight. I have one or two people close to me who know about him, and he's seen as a bit of a prick.

I certainly hope that we can finally have a reserve team which means good academy graduates won't be sitting in the stand every Saturday. Certainly a future option if he pushes for it. For now though he has the daunting task of keeping us in the division. A side without a home win in 2017, can't defend a set piece and doesn't score enough goals IMO. Tough ask for him. I think he can do it though, but i hope he gets at least this season and the next season to turn around the team and put his own stamp on it. He isn't a popular man with players by the looks of things, with Grimsby players refusing to sign contracts with him in charge. That doesn't matter to me, in fact i hope he absolutely shreds the likes of Chappel when he bottles his next tackle, and helps him on his way!

Good luck to Marcus. I was looking for either his appointment or Graham Barrow. I will back him 100%. Hope we can get a few more down there on Saturday and get behind the team and try and get that home win. My daughter is the mascot on Saturday, hoping she is the lucky mascot we need !!!

I see Mark Sampson is to leave the England Women's Manager job. Bignot would have been an ideal replacement for him especially in view of all the 'discrimination' allegations going around. Hope he doesn't leave us as soon as he's started.

I really hope the Board did due diligence and have got this right. Grimsby players hated him, we will be relegated if he doesn't get these players onside, we've no money for any others! I for one cannot imagine how he's a better candidate than Graham Barrow, just look at what's been achieved by both?
Nonetheless he gets my full support, looking forward to Saturday, onwards and upwards!
PS I would like to know who did the interviewing, called accountability.

Just seen his press interview I'd love to be a fly on the wall when he addresses the squad I think one or two players might have a little bit of a rude awakening Get the impression it's his way or the highway (something that's sorely needed right now) A very strange first press interview - he didn't mention Aldershot once.

He's saying the right things and making a good first impression.
Happy with the appointment and how he is already stating that players will have clear roles and responsibilities on Saturday and the crowd will see a plan. Many managers would duck questions about Saturday by stating they need time to get ideas across etc, but he's taking accountability already which I think is a great sign.

Great appointment! Really looking forward to seeing him stamp his authority on this bunch of players and hopefully get us organised and achieving results. He can only work with what he's got for the moment but hopefully in time he will be able to improve the squad and bring in some much needed quality in certain areas. For now I just want to see them organised, fit and playing positively.

Time to back him and the players now as we hope for happy times returning 😀👍

Well done and best wishes for success this season to Marcus Bignot. The club have announced his appointment, but nothing more, so we don't know any Contractual terms.Unfortunately he has been available and willing all season, so the Board, no doubt under strong influence by Maguire, have kept him away from managing the club for the opening eleven games and created a mountain for him to climb, denying him the opportunity to assemble his preferred squad in the process. It appears we have a new manager with 3 months experience of managing at this level. Without knowing ANY contractual terms we have people claiming he is definitely not the cheap option. Truth is we don't know. Most worrying is the comment from Maguire that at interview "...then Marcus blew us away with his presentation" Did he not say exactly the same about McCarthy? Obviously he will draw people's comments that he was not first choice for them. In winning a popularity poll he won 32% which means 68% didn't vote for him. All I do know is that he is not McCarthy so that's good enough for me. Welcome to all that goes with being Chester FC manager.
