Genuinely embarrassed to be reading some of these comments about Astles. Dear me.

They were better than us, and much more organised. It would be nice to bring in a loan striker to add a bit though. Our strikers just don't have any competition. Alabi did so well today, shame he had hardly any support.

My assessment of today:
We were shit.
Drop the crap hybrid 4141 formation and go back to 442 asap and play some proper wingers.
That second half was an embarrassment today. I felt embarrassed for Alabi up there on his own with nobody up with him until Kane came on and he changed the shape. We gave Gateshead far too much time on the ball, just inviting them onto us. I don't think we put two passes together for about 35min of that second half!
He's not got much wrong this season but I felt Macca got it badly wrong today. Revert back to 442 asap please!

Dreadful tactics today, unbelievably negative at home, and clearly no obvious plan B to deal with a limited albeit well organised side. If Akintunde is a long term injury we need a loan strike partner for Alabi asap to revert to an effective 442. I find it incredible that I am now watching chris Iwelumu on Channel 5 providing his expert opinion, but he is yet again absent at the Deva. How on earth is he an effective appointment at cfc ? It seems to me Jmc is desperately in need of experienced assistance on matchday, and despite some bad luck, results since Christmas speak for themselves.

Are people seriously suggesting dropping Astles?
Yes he was poor today but he's been class for pretty much every other game.

This is why we need to hire someone like we hired Chris Herbert last season. I would rather have at least 2 coaches on a matchday than 1. Some clubs in this league do have 3 coaches. I do like Iwelumo, but it's a little frustrating when we just have Macca on a matchday.

Where were the ballboys by the way?
How many times did our own players have to go off running after the ball?
It was beyond a joke at times

Todays performance was really bad, but not a lot different to many of late. People keep saying we didn't get what we deserved at Dover and Dagenham but showing a few good flashes doesn't win games. We have really over achieved so far this season with a very thread bare squad. At the moment the injuries and suspensions are costing us dearly. Without naming names, we all know who they are, some of our squad aren't good enough for this level and it's now showing in our performances and results. We are a bottom half team, but our points gained so far should enable us to stay safe. But unless Macca sorts things it won't be by much. But hey, on to Maidstone COYB!!

Very disappointment with todays performance, Went all down hill from when Vassell went off and the first goal scored! Hats of to gateshead looked very organized and a very good team expect them to make the play offs now

We had more options today than at any other point in the season. A few months ago the list stood at like four/five players out. Today it was just two. I think he actually had too many options for his own good today.

I got every single ball which was near me, even when it got stuck in the corner by the cherry picker. It's just sad when I do a good job and people still moan.

I don't think he was referring to you Rio. I noticed it myself when the ball was out towards the west stand, especially in the corners. Didn't have a problem in the main stand/ Harry Mac. Three ballboys were sat together in the middle of the west stand. I appreciate they are volunteers and do what they do completely voluntarily, but having three ball boys for one stand all sat together doesn't really work. Someone got banned on old deva chat for criticising ball boys so please don't do that to me here! But it killed a lot of time in the first half when Gateshead were, for some reason, wasting a lot of time at 0-0.

The club should get 1/2 a dozen small stools for the ball boys and girls and before the game they should be positioned evenly around the pitch. At the moment I don't think anyone takes charge and they just sit where they want, usually all in the South stand when it's empty. It wouldn't take a lot of effort and would look a lot more professional.

There was no-one at the South/East stand station either today. It is good that they volunteer for our club, and they are all nice kids but the thing is at times some of them sit at the back of the South Stand when they could be going on the side of the pitch.

What about all those poor kids who got in for free. They could be scarred for life. I think poor old Tristan and Oliver will now stick to rugger and croquet like most Chester kids Just to be clear, all those kids and their parents etc did pay to get in. £3 per child and £10 per adult. It wasn't free.

Their are only 2 blue stools at the stadium. On a matchday whether we play Woking or Wrexham I always sit on the side bit, mainly in east stand. They could invest with a couple of stools as sometimes my spine hurts after a match. 😂😂 But I'm happy with the way it is at the moment.

Steph takes charge of us but she has a lot of duties on a matchday so you may not see her.

[b Err, I don't recall one retrieve riot you lazy get! You must've been watching another match then. I was full of cold yesterday. Rather than slouching in front of the TV I went to the match to support my favourite team and doing the job which I love. As I have said, I got every ball near me so you must have been watching something different.

Shows how shite the match was when you can only have a go at a teenage ballboy who turned up despite being ill. We're starting to see the team failing to show up which is far more worrying.
