What always amazes me is that England play under the flag of Llewellyn ap Grufudd the last prince of Wales. ...and when it comes to football internationals England haven't even got an anthem to play, unless of course they are deluded into thinking they are the UK, and not just a part of it. Surely even the most deluded of people must be aware that the National Anthem represents all four home countries. The clue is in the title "National" as England is a country not a nation. Mind you, I've seen lots of stupid people write "English" when asked for their Nationality. Why are you so anti-English? A nation is a group of people with the same language or culture who are self governing. Of course England is a nation you absolute weapon. The only person on this thread who looks stupid is you.

I simply point out some obvious truths so why does that make me anti-English? You even go so far as issue personal insults. My, you really are a classic example aren't you. i note no defence in respect of either the Flag or the anthem, so perhaps deep down you are in agreement. At least England won the World Cup in their true colours, albeit because West Germany won the toss! Of course the deluded Don Revie fell into the trap of mistaking England for Gt. Britain with his red, white and blue kit, even though it was predominantly white and blue! Stupid, by definition, is showing a lack of intelligence or common sense. You seem to have achieved this quite well in your denying of facts and unnecessary insults.

By the way, England is not self governing. Westminster is a British parliament after all.

Its quite an interesting point of view you have, you make some valid points and seem quite articulate and lucid, with nearly 300 posts on a rivals message board, perhaps you have found your intellectual level, I bet you don't spend hardly any time on your own board, with the dull-witted anecdotes of how great the club was over 40 years ago. What makes you anti-English is your repeated criticism of England & your attempted denial of England’s existence as a nation. I didn’t issue a personal insult, I referred to you as a weapon which is a very general insult to which you are excellently suited. A classic example of what precisely? There was no defence there because none was necessary, on the anthem you’re right, the UK & England share a national anthem. On the flag you are incorrect, it’s the flag of St. George & has been used as the flag of England since the 1200’s. I have absolutely no idea what point you are trying to make with the rest of your post, trying to point out conflation between Britishness & Englishness? Well yes, it happens all the time. Outside of sport the nation’s in which we reside are just geographical areas. We are all UK citizens, what’s your point?

I don't understand your attitude that pointing out what is incorrect makes one anti anything. I suppose being a weapon is better than being a tool though. Please note I didn't raise the challenge in respect of the flag, but am pleased to read your information in respect of it's origin. I note your use of the apostrophe in the use of the word "nation's", which correctly refers to a singular entity, in that there is one Nation here, that being the UK, and it comprises four member countries. My point? Simply note England is part of a union of countries and incorrectly some people conflate(to use your word) English with British. They are not the same. You can be both, but many are not. The anthem is inappropriate when used to relate to England alone.

It never fails to amuse me the amount of anti-English vile portrayed by the other home nations. Where as "most" Englishmen will cheer on other home nations teams in National competitions, we never get the same back from them. It's always a case of "anyone but England". Funny though, that most of the Welsh players play for English teams in the English league, and i would hazard a guess that most of the North Welsh supporters who hate England, have an allegiance to an English premier league side like Man Utd or Liverpool etc. I can only assume that the hatred comes from hundreds of years living under English rule, or maybe it's just the jealously of always being in the English shadow when it comes to most sports (not just football). Occasionally another home nation will perform a bit better than the English at something but generally speaking, the English are consistently superior at most sports. On second thoughts maybe they just hate us cos we're a bunch of conceited, arrogant t**ts!!

I addressed them. Yes, that was what I said. So what? Absolutely not. England doesn’t have a seperate anthem & is the chief nation of the UK so is well within it’s rights to use God Save the Queen.

There is no chief nation, only partners, but such an arrogant answer epitomises just why people of other British counties detest people like you. "well within it's rights" is absolute arrogant nonsense. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-derbyshire-35296296

Stortford Blue.
Sorry if I have confused you. The flag I was referring to as the flag of Llewellyn ap Gruffudd is the three lions standard.
So basically when English players kiss the badge and not very funny comedians write songs about it, they are actually addressing the flag of the last real prince of Wales.

Is this annoying b*st*rd a reincarnation Whopper3 ... you found the missing 40,000 of Chester's population yet? I see your limited vocabulary has resorted to the usual vile diatribe. I've even been accused of being Welsh by a moderator, coupled with yet another insult of being a "goat". Fortunately I sit amongst a decent group of civilised supporters and don't have to endure your limited ability to accept the views of others. It does at least give a partial explanation of the falling attendances and inability to attract a new audience with such insults and accusations from people who profess to be fans of a club.

On second thoughts maybe they just hate us cos we're a bunch of conceited, arrogant t**ts!! Wales is not even a proper country you know, it's a principality!!. The unofficial capital of north Wales is LIVERPOOL!!. They never had a capital city until 1959. The Welsh flag was not recognised until 1959. The union flag incorporates the cross of St George, St Patrick and St Andrew. The Welsh flag is not even included. Ulster has it's own banknotes as does Scotland. Wales uses ENGLISH bank notes because they don't have a welsh banknote. According to the Welsh language census of 2011 only 19% of welsh people speak Welsh. ALL of the main Welsh clubs play in England. Newport, Swansea and Cardiff. Some of the minor non league clubs also play in england..Wrexham TNS, Colwyn bay, Merther. More people speak Polish in Wrexham than Welsh. IMHO Wales is not even a proper country...it's just an anexe of England. No wonder the goat fans are so deluded.

... at least there is no Northern Ireland bashing as yet, unlike the attacks on the other three country members of the Union. Is it a fear of the power of those ten DUP members who are otherwise supporting the lame duck Consevatives in Westminster? For a city like Chester that borders North Wales, and with the club ground actually being in North Wales, it never ceases to amaze me that some supporters feel the need to be so vitriolic towards so many people who live in the catchment of the club, south and west of the ground. Perhaps this explains the poor attendances to a significant extent. Interesting to read also of the concept of jealousy towards the English as a consequence of the successful clubs in England, especially the current clubs who have their success primarily because they are so devoid of home grown talent, Tottenham currently the exception. Of course, being English doesn't give immunity either. Tranmere face the vile rhetoric also. If only the fans responsible for generating this hostility were more welcoming and accommodating then this club would grow a little healthier.

I think for a Chester fan to criticise Scottish football, is to align your mindset with the football snobbery exhibited by someone following Man United down the pub and sneering at Chester and National league football.
