You knew that free kick was going to go in when the commentator started talking about how poor the deliveries had been.
A tad harsh, I think we'd shaded that half, but again, poor goals conceded at bad times.

Dont deserve to be a goal down but they've produced one bit of quality & made it tell. Can't really say that we have yet.

Wrexham as usual are poor in the last third of the pitch. Hopefully we'll kick on and get a second, third etc

All three commentators including Saunders think we should've had a pen for Holroyds handball.

Archer has done well but Pearson is playing him and he needs to be careful. You can see him in Archer and the ref's ear all the time.

Potentially could of been red but again Pearson was clever and probably prevented that

Shades of Rooney last season with that tackle, especially with both pretending they were injured after the foul!

Can't see Turnbull lasting the 90, plus we definitely can't afford for another defensive injury, the remaining subs are all strikers (plus sub keeper)

Lost at hone to a very ordinary side.
Its why we're going down.

As I suppose I am more of a neutral these days I can say the better team lost.
Wrexham must have had 2 or 3 shots on target all night and were awful 2nd half.
Surely if Chester can play like that every week, they won't go down.

I'm afraid Bambi may be right. Disagree that they're an ordinary side. They know how to win games. They shouldn't have won that one, but did, and it's a familiar feeling for us.

Awful game with 2 poor sides but Wrexham can grind out results. We edged it on chances but unfortunately that gets you no where.

You're right Lobster, I was agreeing with the second part of Bambi's post. They did what they had to do efficiently, including gamesmanship (cheating?) and they took their chance. But we are in real danger now.

We had a poor first half bar Archer's chance.
Second half - Wrexham just parked the bus, we couldn't get pass them. We did have the better of the chances though, White won't want to see his replay (not marked and a free header), can't remember last time we hit the woodwork twice, Astles was unlucky at the end. Not Dawson's finest game, tried too many hollywood balls which went amiss.
People will be gutted tonight and emotions will probably make us think we are relegation bound, but I'm optimistic. Once we start putting our chances away we'll start climbing. We will play a lot worse defences than tonight

Halls and James can do one, awful players. We played well second half and unlucky not to get a goal. Didn't think it was a free kick leading to their goal but as per too easy for teams to score. Unfortunately seen this type of game and result too often and it won't get better

What a poor game that was, never seen the ball given away as much by both teams.like I have said before what a poor league ,Wrexham now joint top. Also sorry to upset Astle fans but it was a shocking piece of defending for their goal.having said that we didn’t deserve to lose.

I'm trying to see beyond this one game and think that we put in a decent performance and should have got at least a point. And I hate to say it, but I think they will win the league this year - there are no standout teams and they're just a solid one who know how to churn out results without playing well.
I hate losing to them but it probably doesn't hurt me as much as some given I didn't grow up in Chester. I'm more used to having the piss taken out of me by Tranmere fans. I can take some positives from that game and think that we'll beat weaker teams if we play like that. Got to move on now anyway, it's gone and this season is bigger than that one game.

Really harsh on you boys that result, we really didn't deserve them 3 points tonight. If I remember correctly at start of season you went away to a couple of places and the woodwork rescued you a few times? (If I'm thinking right here) maybe tonight the luck just happened to turn the other way for you.
What I will say, you boys won't go down if you play how you did tonight for most of the season, though you may of only got that performance as it I was a derby game but idk.
From outside looking in, Halls is awful, James is a shadow of the player he used to be and Akintunde was anonymous all game for you. Dawson seems to be an alright footballer, Hannah looked clever in his movement tho is also nowhere near the same player he was. Archer given time, I think will come to be your best striker as well.
Good luck for the rest of the season until we play you again. I'm more than certain you'll stay up.

Apologies if I upset anyone from my previous post. As many will know it’s unlike me to Use that sort of language. On tonight we were not great first half but held our own I don’t think the injury helped with our shape? There goal comes from a lack of concentration from a player who is generally colasall for us. We have had two good penalty shouts and hit the woodwork twice. Basically dominated the second half. The improvement under MB I deserved plaudits that said we must start taking chances. After tonight I feel we have enough to get out of this but it requires performances week in week out and we all know that doesn’t happen in this league. White ought despite having just come on be burying headers like that it’s not the first time he has missed simple chances? In terms of them there is no way they will win the league but may be around the play off shake up?

Going to stick up for James and say he's just shite playing on the right - seems to lose his bearings completely. Still a good player in the middle. I've seen enough of Halls though.

Definitely deserved something from that. Played the better football but just couldn't make the most of the periods we were on top and that but if luck eluded us. Hannah worked his nuts off but unfortunately was never close enough to Archer which left him against a seasoned centre half in Pearson who him well marshalled. Hall Johnson going off was a huge blow, he gives us quality deliveries and energy and I'm convinced if he had stayed on we would have asked some more questions of them.
Wrexham are a limited team but have two quality centre backs and get men behind the ball and that serves you well in this league. What will trip them up is that they have zero creativity and no goals in them. A headed goal off a set piece is like porn to them.

I just kept thinking second half that if we had anything about us we'd be causing their keeper all kinds of problems. Dont think he made a save 2nd half although I know we hit the post & cross bar. As a one off you'd say it just wasnt our night, but in the context of this season it's all worryingly familiar.
