The team coach should leave Maguire in London tonight.
Make him make his own way back out of his own pocket.

Disappointing given how the evening panned out but not disastrous. We would have got nothing out of 2 trips to the capital in 4 days under McCarthy with a threadbare squad. Obviously the opportunity was there but the missed penalty was the turning point and I imagine they were galvanised and fired up after that. Drawing on the road is fine if we can convert some wins at home, let's hope we have one or two more bodies back on Saturday and give it a good go.

3 points from the last 5 games and every result bar one an "If only" sob story.
Should have closed out a point v Maidstone Should have got something v Wrexham Should have shut up shop after scoring v Bromley Should have protected the lead tonight.
The mentality is lacking and despite making 9 signings, only 2 started tonight, so that's crucially behind why we're disappointed tonight.

According to MB, Kingsley picked up his 5th yellow tonight so will miss Saturdays game.
Doesn’t sound like the injuries are easing either! 😕

Just in from the game.
First up, cracking support from the Chester fans, didn't stop singing, just like some of our visits of old to Orient!
We started slowly and thought we were in for a long night after we went 1-0 down.
But then we got the 'goal' from Akintunde and we started to believe. We played some really good stuff for 25 minutes and it was a cracking game of football. The crowd got really fired up, the ref made some bizarre decisions and Hannah scored a cracking free kick (Looks like he is back in scoring ways, 2 on the trot)
Then the penalty incident. Definitely a red card, keeper guessed the right way. Then everyone was steaming into everyone else up to the end of the half.
As it turned out, us winning a penalty was the turning point in the game. Orient came out with a will to win, we didn't. They ran the show, ran and tried harder than us, and we were woeful. Bell stopped running, Akintunde disappeared, as did Dawson.
They got the equaliser as expected and it was only going to go one way.
Despite the lack of options Bignot changed it around and we got back into it, and those players who had gone missing reappeared.
As has been said, I would have taken a draw before the game considering the squad we had tonight. But - considering where we were in the game we should have had enough to close it out, so disappointing not to get the three points.
Man of the match? The lads in the stands who didn't stop singing.

If Bignot stays it will defo be North effin Ferriby for us next season. It didn't have to be this way. Not likely... North Ferriby are bottom of league with 1 win all season! 😉

We are showing fight but lack any real quality and barring a miracle we will be in the Conference North next season ! People keep saying it's a good point here and there.......we need wins not draws . Orient are shit 13 games without a win down to 10 and we still could beat them ! I like Bignot and team is playing better but we're not getting any results, since he's been here we've won 2 drawn 5 and lost 5 in all competitions which is very poor. On top of this were signing new players every week who in all honesty are no better than what we have ! Big credit to the Hardy souls who were at the game tonight .

So frustrating that Bell didn’t pull the trigger and score before he was pulled down for the penalty. Would have preferred to have been 3-1 up against 11 men than 2-1 up against ten.

I don't get to see many like that, beats the hell out of the drab days out at the likes of Eastleigh.

As sad as it is the JM era will haunt us for a long time and anyone with half a brain can see MB is doing his best with what we have injuries and wheeling and dealing. Anyone that expected instant success with the team we have and a new manager are very deluded, I will judge MB when he has had time and his own budget, until then suck it up Thanks to JM and the club allowing him to spend the budget.

But - considering where we were in the game we should have had enough to close it out, so disappointing not to get the three points. Man of the match? The lads in the stands who didn't stop singing. Pretty much as I saw it. Dreadful start again saw us concede from a short corner. Then played some good stuff and got level with a header from Aki which we thought had come back off the post. Assume the lino gave it. Lovely free kick from Hannah into the bottom corner, before we are presented with a chance to wrap up the match. Terrible mix up leaves Bell with nothing to do but knock it into an empty net but for some inexplicable reason he took a touch and allowed their defender to bring him down. Clear red card and penalty - should be game over but Hannah sent a weak shot to the keeper's right. Can't blame him for taking it but isn't Dawson the designated penalty taker. It was a sensational first half but the wheels came off after half time. Classic example of how not to play against ten men - sat back, let them dominate, gave them space on the edge of the box and inevitably a shot flies in. After that we could easily have lost it - the crowd got behind them and they missed a sitter near the end. At least in the last 15 minutes we did get the ball out wide to exploit the extra man but just couldn't get the final quality ball in. No doubt that's two points lost. Too many players went missing in that second half - Akintunde, Bell (just don't think he's good enough), James ran out of steam and Dawson couldn't get any control in the middle. Very worrying how we went to pieces against ten men. Two points from two away games isn't bad but won't count for much if we don't win on Saturday. Finally, a terrific atmosphere especially in the first half when the singing was non stop. Shame a few more don't join in. Really enjoy going to Orient - proper ground. Gutted we didn't kill them off.

He is starting to Bring in his own choice of players as well. In general circumstances two points from these back to back London trips would be good. When you are against ten have the opportunity to go 2 up from the spot and don’t take it. Seems like an opportunity wasted. We do let’s face it need to put a run of three or four wins together to climb away from trouble. 9 or so wins from 25 games looks a big ask. I fear we may despite MB’s efforts run out of games. You are absolutely correct and I have said on numerous occasions that this should of never happened by taking the glaringly obvious stance in April. I hope we can do it with players fit etc but at this stage it seems we shall run out of games.

We can't keep blaming McCarthy all season, but some hangovers of his reign still remain I think. Things like conceding straight after scoring at Bromley and sitting back against 10 men last night. These are old habits that seem hard to shake off.
Bignot's record if taken in isolation doesn't look fantastic, but it's better than what we were doing before and it doesn't take into account what a mess he inherited. I keep comparing now to Atkins' time in charge and thinking that he only took 4 points from his first 9 games. Bignot inherited a squad and mentality that was going to take us down with a whimper, so he's needed to draft players in quickly even though there's no money available. There's a degree of trial and error about what he's doing but I think we've got to give him the benefit of the doubt. I do believe we'll enjoy a burst of form in the near future.

I don't blame McCarthy, I blame the board for allowing McCarthy to assemble this shower of shite and blow the budget. If bignot had given out 2 year contracts to this lot then I would also question his record, he has been brought in to do a daunting task. I know this has been argued to death, but I feel some of that war chest should be given to bignot to keep us in this league.

What a strange mixture of emotions last night was!
The overriding feeling was of immense disappointment - a real opportunity missed in a 6 pointer.
However, if you offered me a point at kick off knowing that, a) we had so many injuries - including arguably our main striker, main defender and main midfield partnership, and b) didn't have one single first team appearance on the bench - then I would most certainly have taken it.
Agree with Lobster about playing against 10. Whilst you gain a numerical advantage you often lose the psychological edge. I wasn't there, but from accounts of those who were, Orient seemed well up for it second half and cancelled out the extra man (and more).
Disappointing. But another point to the tally - so not too shabby.

Gutted we didn't kill them off. Generally agree with the above. Yes, the penalty miss deprived us of a cushion when we may well have gone on to take 3 points.
But, for me the big mistake was the formation used after half time. It was bizarre to change from 3 at the back to a 4 with no width in midfield, it invited disaster and it came. When playing against 10 men you need to stretch them across the park and create the space to exploit the extra man. It was only in the last few minutes when we reverted to a back 3 and pushed Gough to left wing that we troubled them.
I would have loved to see a midfield 5 with Rainey and Gough staying wide and getting at their full backs. Still, a point is better than none.

Mid-season too when most players are snapped up 😂 You have to question whether all the signings are better than we already have. It maybe some are short term cover for injuries etc. I hope they are. It looks a bit Burr like at the moment. Worryingly. When Atkins put together his relegation battling squad, it was just that. Tough, experienced players. We seem to be signing young lads for the future. It's great if we stay up and can build, develop and improve them. Win Win in that case. Not sure they are what we need right now though. It will be tough for them this season. We'll have a better view of MB and his plans by early January. We've a run a games where we need to pick up 7-9 points (after Saturday). If we don't, chances are we'll go down.

The only way we could go out and sign experienced, tough players would be if we managed to get rid of some of the top earners in that side. Chappell isn't/wasn't on a big wage, so he's gone out, and all we can afford is to gamble on a couple of young lads from lower down the leagues in the hope they come good.
So unless, by some miracle, we can ship out the likes of Halls, McCombe, Hannah, Turnbull, Mahon and James, we will probably be signing more lads like Jordan Archer and Jorome Slew
