"Have you signed the volunteer code of conduct? If the answer is yes, then you are in breach of said code by effectively bringing the business into disrepute. Having said that I do not believe for a moment that you are anything other than a WUM and a cowardly one at that."
Yes I have signed the said document. Doesn't mean I can't have an opinion about something. we don't live in a fascist state you know.

Ha I was about to ask whether the volunteer code of conduct restricts its signatories from airing their opinions, or whether there's something specific relating to publicly criticising fellow volunteers and/or employees. Would be interesting to know - I served on the Fundraising committee before Maguire disbanded it and never once had to sign any such statement or document.

Just asked a friend of mine who has been a volunteer for both guises of the club for at least 12 years about this code of conduct and he knows nothing about it. Is it immediate club offices volunteers that have to sign it, as opposed to turnstyle operators, programme sellers etc?

No, of course the agreement does not restrict its signatories from airing their opinions. It is a very simple document which reflects how the CFU will do its best to keep its volunteers trained, updated, help with complaints and deal with them fairly. It deals with other matters such as dignity, respect, insurance, safety and inclusiveness. In return the volunteer agrees to do their best to, amongst other things: Be a good ambassador for the club. It's here that our friend Whopper 3 let's himself down badly. If, as he asserts that he has signed this document, he would know that he is acting inappropriately. To be frank, I don't believe he is a volunteer, nor indeed that he has signed anything. The acid test here was that I set a little trap for him as there is no such thing as a current volunteer code of conduct. If he was a legitimate volunteer, he would know that the document is in fact Volunteer agreement version 5 (as amended) 2015 that applies here. There are also references to behavioural expectations for both parties in the Volunteer Handbook, although this is in need of updating. I'm disappointed that you did not sign this agreement, all my fellow volunteers within my area of responsibility have done so. I hope this helps.

Many thanks for the detailed explanation Richard. Can't say I was made aware of it during my short time volunteering, unfortunately, but it's certainly something that rightly should be in place for ALL volunteers.

Fair play to Richard though 😂.

What utter rubbish.
I voice my opinion regularly when I am at the club offices as we are all entitled to do. People in the office know what I think of Maguire and I am sure he knows as well. He should not be our CEO. This is not "acting inappropriately" it is called free speech.
Not everyone has to think he is such a marvelous bloke.

Im confused, in this post you say your sure Maguire knows what you think of him as the people in the office know, yet in your post on page 8 you claim to have told maguire to his face what you think of him so which one is it??

Believe it or not, I'm actually led to believe that whopper3 is a genuine club volunteer.

I have spoken to Maguire in the past and I have told him he is not the man to lead the club forward. I also express my opinion of him when asked.
