Ireland was hard hit by the Recession but recovered well. I went in 2011 and 2012 I think, and I could see how much it had improved within a year. I also found a pub where a pint of Guinness was €2.30!

Spot on. Cost of living being higher doesn’t necessarily matter as much when people’s income is a lot higher. Another thing Ireland has going for it is the fact Dublin is regularly ranked first or second in “friendliest city in the world” style lists. Second in 2020 to another Irish city - Galway. A far cry from angry, hateful, insular, xenophobic England.

Rose tinted spectacles comes to mind. Not everybody gets high wages or lives in Dublin. When we're you last there. And how many beggars did you see in Dublin. I had a similar experience when I worked in Holland building million pound houses. I thought wow they are all wealthy here.. Then i got talking to the Dutch lads on the site. Yes we can build them but no way could they buy them. In fact they nearly all rented.

There were parts of Syria that were absolutely beautiful - and some stunning beaches. Of course, we never get shown this part of the country so we kind of become conditioned to believe it to be completely made up of the images of vast swathes of rubble that we always see on the news. Have you been or do you base your knowledge on other people's opinions like Mancot does? I mentioned Syria as a joke, but there's always a melodramatic angle you guys take for any person or country, it's always someone else's fault when something fails. Gosh, why do you have to be so passive-aggressive all the time? It is so tedious. I thought it was fairly well known that Syria and the Middle East have previously been home to many sites of natural and architectural beauty. I made no comment on the politics of the situation, nor do I think anything I said was melodramatic. For what its worth, Bashar Al Assad is of course culpable in the country's destruction. But I assume that's probably a little too nuanced for you, right? In future, everyone, just to keep Oaks Blue's toys in the pram - remember that it is forbidden to make any comment whatsoever on any place you haven't personally visited.

Try telling the millions in this country who live in poverty, the nurses who are facing yet another real terms pay cut, the single parents having to decide whether they should eat or feed their kids that “it’ll be ok”. I’d rather be on my side with my sort caring about the lives of those people than your “I’m alright Jack, what doesn’t affect me doesn’t bother me” side.

That would be great, thanks for understanding 👌👍 I find that a person's opinion gains more weight when it has been personally experienced. Not necessarily aimed at you Devachanter as you seem relatively educated and experienced, but I'm fairly certain mancots culture begins at the A55 and stops at the A483.

Imagine the indignation if someone on here wrote “ I’ve supported Chester FC for 35 years but it’s been s**t for the past 5 years so I’ve decided to support a team across the border in another country who have much more wealth than Chester”.

Because midfield general seems to primarily want to quit England (UK) because it’s a cesspit. i.e. the grass is currently greener elsewhere. As an Irish former colleague of mine consistently reminds us, grass is always greener in Ireland because it pisses down most of the time!!

Your obsession with Mancot has absolutely destroyed any sense of perspective you have on anything. You pretended to be someone else while banned because you couldn't give a rest for a fortnight. It is not a joke, there's something wrong with your behaviour. Plenty on here will fill the void of taking Mancot to task you don't have to dedicate your life it to it. It's embarrassing to watch.

When you allow his personal insults to remain on this forum whilst trying to reprimand someone else for the same thing, it only comes across one way...

Nope, because I didn’t specifically refer to any particular person as scum.
It was for a tongue-in-cheek comment when someone asked what a something or other is (can’t even remember) and I replied “Oaks Blue 😝”.
