BREXIT

Brexit was the will of the people-at that time. a lot has changed since then and things have become a lot clearer in both how difficult Brexit actually is and how the EU actually treat us. If it really was down to the will of the people, then let the people decide if they want a second referendum. What has become apparent is May has no support from her own party for her deal, which if you are in Government is a complete farce. The DUP wont support any deal that is currently on the table, but keep supporting the Government that keeps feeding it and Labour have no idea what it is they want to do with anything. Apart from that, to quote the OP first post, its a bit of a mess. That sounds like you’re calling for a referendum on whether to have a referendum! Although tongue in cheek, i was.Our elected MPs were quick enough to throw it out there the first time, but now cant decide or not how it would be received. Let the people decide!!!

Fresh from winning the first Tory Majority for near 20 years Dave Cameron and Lynton Crosby drastically under-estimated the ill-feeling towards EU membership and caught on that back foot flailed in trying to match the positives of REMAIN vs the financial savings (which didnt take account of a post-EU shrinking economy) and a positive GREAT britain message of LEAVE which resonated with us coming out of recession. Add that to some Little Englanders and it was always quite the battle for remain imo.
What perhaps needed to happen was for Cameron to confirm a referendum would happen at some later point and then to carefully prepare for it. UKIP in Farage and Banks had already had a headstart as they've had years of material, remain had very little other than towards the end of the campaign when figures started to emerge.
Following the result no-one expected Cameron rightly stood down having brought this about and perhaps the truth became clear then, no-one wanted to actually take us through Brexit. I have a lot of time for May in that she stood up where the ERG (as an example) hid under a rock for a few months and she really is the scapegoat. Commentators at the time said 'no-deal' had to be the default and we should have started planning from the off but unfortunately May decided she could fudge it - find a middle ground. After another Crosby failure in pissing away her majority we're left in a situation which really is the worst of all worlds.
The EU won't move as they know we won't leave without a deal. They have all the cards and we're at the begging bowl. This isn't the GREAT britain that was promised in the campaign and I have to say that's not the fault of anyone but the ERG and their cowardice in letting May front the party. (They may not have been formed then but that section are to blame)
Where to now? I can't see free movement being sustained and so a customs union is out, but it'll be very close to that.

I see Conservative MP Alberto Costa has been sacked as a parliamentary private secretary after he tabled an amendment supporting citizens' rights regardless of the outcome of the Brexit negotiations. What a nasty horrible bunch of xenophobes we have running the country. Obviously this is going to go down well with the average racist Daily Mail reader, but Jesus Christ, what have we become?

Because they’re sensible people and they don’t want their British friends to suffer from chlorinated chicken and “acceptable amount of maggots” quotas.

I have asked this question many times and on different forums. Not yet had any response. one more time. Why do EU not want us to leave given the amount of ill feeling and hatred towards us Alas the only hatred and ill feeling is from our side and directed towards our friends and neighbours. Since the referendum I have visited Europe on many occasions and they are genuinely sad we are leaving.

Arch Dick Farage to lead a Brexit march from Sunderland to Westminster. The original Jarrow march was for jobs. This one it would appear is to celebrate losing them. Perhaps it could start at the Nissan factory to celebrate the loss of the newest model, to Japan?

i admit its not the best but a lot better than comrade corbyn and co Corbyn has played a characteristically slippery hand these last few years but he's finally chosen/been forced to do the right thing and support a second vote. I doubt it will be enough to claw back enough support to make Labour a credible oppositon under his leadership though. It's a shame because May's government is wretched and needs to be challenged.

Why do these discussions always have to descend into name calling? This is the worst thing about Brexit in my opinion, it’s got ordinary people at each other’s throats and has brought out some real nastiness on both sides of the debate. Get annoyed at the bastard politicians, not other voters, as they’re loving the division this has caused. Divide and conquer, and all that.

To be honest, those divisions, between outward looking people with progressive politics and those with more nationalistic / socially conservative outlooks have always existed; Brexit has merely exposed them and emboldened those who seek to turn back the clock.

On a side note I see the Leader of Her Majesty’s Opposition was assaulted by a right-wing Brexshitter yesterday. I fear we are heading for another Jo Cox tragedy, hope I’m wrong.

The stuff that you see is on Twitter is absolutely cringeworthy and toxic. Grown adults embarrassing themselves hiding behind a phone screen whilst Tweeting bile. You can usually tell the sort of person they are with the "hashtags" they have.

Primark has announced that it is moving its UK-based product operations in Reading to Dublin from September, affecting 220 jobs. But of course, this has nothing to do with Brexit whatsoever. Probably due to the fact they were making Diesel engined clothes or something. I’m sure a Brexshitter will be along to confirm this.
