Politics has become insane.
Tories have turned into 'bong for Brexit', while Labour have somehow become hostage to a minority lobby group for a foreign state power which is now angrily demanding unquestioning compliance, and (mostly) getting it.
Nothing really makes sense anymore.

Acting Lib Dem leader Ed Davey has blamed his party’s poor GE performance on Jeremy Corbyn.
“In any election there are forces that you can control, and forces you can’t control. And there’s no doubt that the toxicity of Jeremy Corbyn to people who might have voted for us was greater than might have been expected,” Davey said.
Someone put me in touch with this guy’s dealer, it’s obviously good stuff.

HS2 looks set to cost £150 billion. That’s almost double the cost of the entire Labour manifesto that was apparently going to bankrupt the country.

HS2 will cost us £150bn to get a few folks to London a few minutes earlier.
The Labour manifesto cost half of that & it would have:
•Ended homelessness •Ended child poverty •Done away with food-banks •Nationalised public services •Tackled climate change

For the sake of some balance, given its not all bad news out there - there's this www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-51188930 and of course the fact IMF predicts UK to out-perform Eurozone if orderly exit. All a bit too much doom and gloom. I haven't even mentioned 'spoons month of great deals on european beer

This is also notable from the link you share:
"The increase is in part because of the change in women's retirement age."
Questionable whether delaying people's retirement is really the solution to unemployment.
Also, while poverty is increasing and real-term wages are at best stagnant, I think the figure of how many people are in employment is fairly meaningless. In Wirral West, people are earning 25% less than they did a decade ago in real terms.

Er...does anyone want to help her out?

Let’s face it, the Brexshit Party and their previous incarnation, the UKIPs, did absolutely nothing to further the cause of the U.K. in the EU, other than pocket a hefty salary, so it’s not going to make much difference.

If they're that opposed to the EU, why do they accept their seats and salary in European Parliament? Shouldn't they turn them down, like Sinn Fein do in UK elections?
Seems like they'd rather turn up and engage in petty displays like turning their backs than actually make a stand. They come across as immature rather than principled.

Sorry mate, but you're a complete and utter embarrassment. It's almost as if you want the Country to fail. A cuckold to the European Union. This country is going to be prosperous as F*** going forward. Be positive about something for once. Kind Regards Uncle Charlie x

The £260m contract to produce the new U.K. passports (minus any reference to the EU) was awarded to a Franco-German company and the passports are being printed in Poland. If our government fail to agree a free trade deal with the EU in time for next Friday I presume the passports won’t be arriving.
Farcical.

Whilst i agree it should pass through and be law of the land. You cannot just add in what you want to an agreement made with another party (the EU) and just expect them to agree to it.

Why is it? The guy obviously cares about refugees, so I'd assume he'd take some into his house. These people are coming from Syria, I'm sure the UAE as a very developed 1st world country should be one of their first ports of call for residence, not Britain.

UAE is a first world county with good links with the US, so they'd be fairly safe there. I mean who'd want to live in the UK, getting stabbed on the streets of London or Birmingham.

I want a fairer world, but I put myself and my family first. But like Jonathan Pie says, you can be a hypocrite or you can be an arsehole, so I'd rather be a hypocrite. I'd like to think if I had more free time and money, I'd do more good. Politicians have the power to actually make positive change, and they choose not to. Almost every Tory in Parliament voted against that amendment, and nobody else. There's a nasty, uncompassionate streak that runs right through that party, and it seems to connect with the ugliest sides of otherwise ordinary people.

For example if people are fleeing their country of origin for persecution over their sexuality then they aren’t going to be safe in UAE. The same if you’re a Shia Muslim (as opposed to a Sunni).

Still underwhelmed by the Labour leadership contest.
I reckon we need a combination of all four.
Rebecca Long Bailey’s policies.
Emily Thornberry’s pugnacity.
Lisa Nandy’s media savvy.
Keir Starmer’s hair.
