Why do you have turn every thing political.you see only what you want to see. It's a fact over 1 million people have come to this country and are prepared to work for less thus suppressing the hourly rates. Just because you have not experienced it does not mean it does not happen "Forced to accept the bare minimum" is a more accurate way of putting it than "prepared to work for less". You're talking as though people are haggling their own wages down. Ha yes it’s a barmy argument and I got the same impression from his post - as if foreigners are bartering to be paid less.

Why is it a barmy post. I don't know what you do for a living but I very much doubt either of you two have ever worked in con struction. I speak from my own personal experience. But to be quite honest neither of you have convinced me to see it any other way. minimum wage is the best thing to happen for any employers. This enabled them to offer this to everybody irrespective of skills. If there were fewer people seeking work then rates would go up

They don't barter they think they have hit the jackpot earning 2 and 3 times as much here than they do at home. If it was so bad for them why do they come here. And before you twist it I am not telling them to go home.

If I was fit enough I would do this. I was picking potatoes during school holidays at 8 years of age with my mother to help subsidise family income tractor and tailor used to come round the street to pick up all women and kids that wanted it. 10 shillings a day. But on a serious note if you believe what you post you are reading some serious s__t.

But on a serious note if you believe what you post you are reading some serious s__t. What a great idea, why dont we also get them kids back down the chimneys too! That would also solve over-sized classroom sizes. We could also get those lazy single mothers to do everyone's washing in one place at the same time, we could call them something like.....workhouses.Throw in the disabled, those with mental health issues and maybe the odd orphan and we can sweep the streets clean of these people. HS2? waste of money...lets go back to good old fashioned steam engines. Getting this Tory ethos now. By the way if anyone is looking for any very early Christmas gifts... www.gammon.de/

My word you get very upset over a simple post. I think you must come from the world owes me a living age group. Why on earth are you ranting about chimneys. disabled. mental. health. I merely stated how my life was in response to a post about pensioners picking fruit. Is it a qualification requirement for moderators to be angry and aggressive you and s b make it appear so.

Why would anybody "want" to be on their hands and knees picking vegetables for £8 an hour? Or sitting at a supermarket till staring into monotonous oblivion for the same amount? For me at least, there is more to life than that.
I'm sure that one day humans will look back with absolute incredulity at how wedded to work our society was.

You ask I don't know her. What is it with you wanting me to go back to work. You chose your job if you don't like it change it. What do you think happens to construction workers when the contract they are on finishes? They move on I couldn't even count the times I moved or the companies I worked for but I took what ever was going.

I have worked many crap jobs in hard times but never once put my self on the position where I had to claim benefits. I don't claim benefits hun, but yes I absolutely do have better things to be doing than working in a soul-destroying job for £8 an hour. I would have thought everybody does. I have absolutely no problem with anybody claiming benefits whilst they look after children or elderly relatives, or use that time and money to read, or write, to learn and study or to even start their own business or develop an idea. A much better use of their capabilities than agreeing to work in the local abattoir slaughtering animals for a pittance, for example.
