The big question is why are we underperforming?

France, as well as Germany, have also embraced multiculturalism to the benefit of their respective national teams. Perhaps what is holding England back is the views of some who have posted earlier in this thread... You don't half talk rubbish.

The big question is why are we underperforming? Can't say we have underperformed this time around - who possibly thought we would do better than a semi-final finish? I genuinely believe there's a bright future for English football but it's going to take a monumental change in priorities of that slimeball Scudamore and his Premier League cronies. Looking forward to a cap on overseas players, or at least a restriction to only those who have played 75% of their national team's matches over the last three-year period. There might actually be one, sole positive of the abhorrent mess that is Brexit.

Good point and one I was about to answer with the saying "you can have the best league in the world or one of the best national teams in the world but you can't have both." This has been our problem for the past 30 years. Spain probably did have both from 2008 to 2012 though.

France have 2 world cup wins and a defeat in the final in the same period. Puts it into perspectivem

I'm starting to think you're not right in the head with your constant references to Brexit no matter what the subject under discussion is. Why don't you do us all a favour and give it a rest.

Succinct Derry Blue, probably the best post on here for quite some time, made me smile!
