2-0 to Senegal now. If it stays like this then England could face any of the four in the second round. Who would you prefer? Japan for me.

Lot of coupons being wrecked in Group H. Poland look rubbish and that was a comedy goal.

Would still expect Colombia to progress, they're surely just too strong not to. It's the other team which could be any of the other three, though Senegal have looked very dangerous here against a poor Poland side that have left their star man Lewandowski isolated up top.

It'd be nice to avoid Columbia but really, Group H is exactly the type of group you'd want to be either in or paired up with.

Senegal are exactly the sort of team we'd get knocked out by in the last 16. I'd want to avoid them - they've got pace to burn up front and our back three aren't the quickest in the world.

I am coming to the conclusion that it is probably harder to win the Euros than the World Cup. There are some right rubbish teams on display.

Yet again VAR is picking and choosing what decisions it wants to give.

Yet again VAR is picking and choosing what decisions it wants to give. I do have a better understanding of how they operate now if they see another offence in the clip they are viewing that changes the ruling , in the case of Harry Kane they saw a push by an England defender in the same clip so that made the obvious foul on Kane cancelled out. I am not saying it’s right or correct but that’s how it seems to work.

VAR isn't perfect but it's ironing out a few glaring errors, such as the penalty in the Russia game vs Egypt which was initially given as a foul outside the box. They are trying to keep the game moving and not spend ages poring over VAR decisions, so there's no repeat of the farce in the Liverpool, West Brom game, which means there are bound to be a few oversights. Overall, I think it's an improvement and goal line technology is a huge improvement. They do have to get to grips, if you pardon the pun, with all the grappling in the box. It's getting ridiculous.

Isn't anyone even slightly concerned that Russia, described as the worst Russian team for decades, have won their first 2 games 5-0 and 3-1. I know Saudi were dreadful. I just hope that England don't have to play them on their way.

I just hope that England don't have to play them on their way. I did think people were exaggerating how bad Russia were before the tournament began. They were always likely to get out of that pretty weak group with home advantage. They're surprised me with how good they've looked though, especially going forwards.

Russia are terrible. Beaten two shocking sides. They’ll be out as soon as they meet any decent side.

Home advantage is always a big thing as it means that you can plan your doping operation months in advance knowing what infrastructure will be in place.

If you have Netflix watch Icarus on how Russia managed to dope their athletes at the Sochi Winter Games.

Russia aren't any worse than they have been over the last 8 years or so. Just their ranking has slipped dramatically as they haven't played qualifiers etc... i think Brazil's was around 20 before the world cup 4 years ago. But the two teams they beat haven't been up to much, but draw with Uruguay they top the group and would fancy themselves against Portugal/Iran

Lots of people on here say they aren't interested in the England football team and I understand that as nomark footballers like Sterling are currently in dispute with their clubs to have their salaries doubled. Despite all that the TV audience for our game on Monday was the biggest of the year so far (19m) beating that wedding. I must admit that as I watched the game seemingly peter out to an uninspiring 1-1 I felt that nothing had changed, then the Rashford and Loftus-Cheek substitutions were instrumental in producing the winner and I jumped up from my settee and whooped. Amazing stuff.

Can't stand Portugal. Awful to watch, full of arrogant personalities, seemingly constantly lucky although there must be more to it than that. I'd love it if Iran somehow snook out of the group ahead of them.

Love the Uruguayan national anthem. Apparently it’s six minutes long if played in full and seems to just end with them all yelling their heads off.
Bit better than our lot mumbling through the GSTQ dirge like a bunch of schoolkids in assembly.

Yep, we need Jerusalem as our anthem really.
Feel for Morocco who played very well but just couldn't put the ball away. Portugal may well go out if they face Russia in the second round. Either that or they'll fluke another boring win.

Paddy Power are donating £10,000 for every goal Russia score to LGBT charities - and a minimum £50,000 if Russia don't score at all. Was this for the first match only? Turning out to be an expensive publicity stunt-£80k so far and counting
