Today is a massive reality check for everyone connected with the football club. It's a disgusting scoreline and one even worse than anything we suffered in the NL but it has to be used as a learning experience and must never be replicated. There have been issues in those first two games with the defence which weren't exploited. It sounds like today it has been brutally torn apart. Let's hope it's the end of 5 at the back to begin with.

This crap is making the Kidderminster and Halifax performances look decent.

Howson and Smalley have been poor so far in my opinion, it’s a freak result let’s not get carried away but for me personally I would have a flat back 4 as Smalley and Pritchard aren’t good enough going forward and end up in no mans land and leave us too exposed and then we can drop Howson and play Mooney who is a winger out wide in his natural position !!

Back down to earth with a massive bump. Such a disgraceful result takes some doing and even Calamity McCarthy couldnt even manage this ! Back to the drawing board for the duo who must now realise that they have a massive challenge ahead and need to put last season and their Salford pals behind them. Total embarrassment.

Talk about stating the obvious. Let's just hope the management don't revert to balling at the players and lose the dressing room!

Sounds like very poor management today. Need to get rid of 5 at the back.

I blame Bear (BITBBH) - bring back Rio to start the match threads. This wouldn't have happened under Rio ;-)

Any chance the Media lads could live stream the dressing room in a minute?

I’m realistic about what we’ll achieve this season - I don’t expect us to challenge for promotion - but that scoreline is completely unacceptable and must be a one-off.
I hope these players and managers realise how harmful that result is. The attendance on Tuesday will fall like a brick from what it should’ve been and the fans have had enough of teams with no balls.

What’s their record 5 or 6 promotions in 8 seasons. If that’s what losing the dressing room gets you, start throwing punches at the wing backs lads.

That's absolutely heart breaking today. Just when you think the club is clawing its way back they throw in a performance like that.. The board and club have fully backed the management and they now need to sit down with the pair, as uncomfortable as that maybe, and tell them this is not acceptable and how do they plan to put things right? Disgraceful this today and everybody connected to it should be ashamed of themselves.

If McCarthy was our manager he’d need a police escort after that...

Never mind what Johno and bern are going to say. Who is holding them accountable? They put that shambles out there.

The reaction to whatever was said at HT is a worry. Within minutes of the re-start we ship another one in and Roberts commits what sounds like a clear red.
It's been a horror show. Hopefully it's just an early season freak result but I do strongly think we need to change the system - defensively we're not great and leaving them so exposed is a recipe for trouble.

I've been watching since the end of 1959/60 season and I'm struggling to remember 8 going in .. if ever.

Oh for the days of McConville, who has got Accrington off the mark with 2 goals at Bristol Rovers.

Of course you're fully entitled to your opinion but, as I see it: Yes, we took a thumping Yes, it sounds like an unacceptable performance Yes, some deficiencies have been exposed But, it's the 3rd game of a 42 game season + we get the chance to fix the issues and respond on Tuesday, only 72 hours away. Let's see what Bern and Jonno do and see what happens on Tuesday Awful result yes, critical result no!

I didn't think we played great but it's early days. Team gelling blah blah. I will never, ever just shrug my shoulders at an 8-1 defeat. This is completely unacceptable and the management and players need to know that. These next two home games are massive. Over to the duo and let's see what they are made of.

Unlucky! Sounds like it could've gone either way....
Seriously though, these results happen from time to time. Everyone can beat everyone in the National League's.

Gary 'total liability' Roberts sent off once again. He needs sacking off. 5-0. Learning a lot about our squad this afternoon. Shut up you idiot

Seem to recall losing 8-1 at Brighton when the yank was in charge. Smalley had a poor first half at Ashton but we scored against the run of play and in fairness he improved. Some serious head scratching after that performance.

Howson is too old and slow. 2 wing backs good going forward but too slow getting back to cover. Simples !
