Anything can happen in this league. 3-1 to the blues. 1807 Well done, but sadly only 1500+. Worrying! It was a disappointing crowd. Has anyone noticed the amount of time it hammers down with rain precisely an hour before we kick off? It's uncanny how often it happens. You'd think our floating fans wouldn't mind plenty of rain!

Gary Roberts best game in a Chester shirt. Outstanding.
Hon. mentions to Iwan Murray, Gary Stopforth and Steve Howson.
Hopefully no banana skin Saturday...

Last night was the best performance I can ever remember - that's how long we have been putting up with dross under the last few managers. These lads are an absolute breath of fresh air in the dugout and you can see their energy and desire transferring to the players who all put a superb shift in, constantly pressed Kidderminster all over the pitch (looks like we were the "harriers" last night) and showed the guile and quality to create chances. Kiddy had their moments but I thought the tactics we employed were spot on - four centre backs across the back line with Gary Roberts marshalling in front of them meant we weren't overly under pressure on the flanks as we had been during the first few games of the season. The back four had no need to get forward and had enough support from Mahon and Mooney who got up and down incredibly well considering they were essentially playing wide in a front three whilst Stopforth was his usual self - that lad pops up everywhere. I wasn't sure how the second half would go when we withdrew the target man and sent on Hughes who is a different type of forward but we weren't overly lumping the ball forwards anyway and Hughes made an absolute nuisance of himself and took his second goal brilliantly well. Final word for Iwan Murray - this teenage lad was thrown in minutes before kick off having originally been named on the bench but he grabbed his chance with both hands and thoroughly deserved his MOTM (is he legally allowed to accept the champagne?!) - he is going to make us some serious wedge if he can carry on like that, an unreal debut performance. It's great to see we haven't lost a home game so far this season (two wins, two draws, scoring eight goals) - a far cry from the last two years. Five games unbeaten now, goal difference back to even, improving performances and climbing the table. We've beaten third-placed BPA (scoring five against them), we've inflicted second-placed Kidderminster with their first defeat of the season... what's stopping us going to runaway leaders Chorley in the next league game and doing a job on them? The best performance I have seen since our 5-0 win over Dover on October 1st 2016. The best without the ball since a 2-0 win at Chorley in April 2012. Otherwise I agree with everything else. Matty Hughes second goal was worth the admission money in itself. Great debut from Ewan Murray and I have never seen Craig Mahon work so hard defensively as he did last night. Stopforth and Roberts were all over the pitch putting to shame midfielders from the JM era. Tactics spot on and a very enjoyable night for all those who could be bothered to get out of the house to watch real football.

I feel that the best part of this squad is the make up of the exciting batch of youth players we have coupled in with the experience we have brought into the club in the summer.
These lads have no fear whatsoever, saw it last night with young Iwan, and we've seen it with Nathan Brown last season, Matty Thomson, Cain Noble, and Marsh-Hughes.
It is testiment to the work that Callum and all the volunteer coaches within the youth development sides do when we get kids like these coming through. Long may it continue.

Didn't go tonight working delighted with that well done lads now I'm listening to mental as anything gonna live it up a bit Once you’ve done your shift get yourself up the indie disco. Cleggy will play that for you no danger. In fact he’s got a re-mix which goes “Hey Kane Richards with the sad face go to James Jennings’ place and get beaten up.” No throwing any bins in Cruise though. Jimmy Soul and Chris Piercy are working the door tonight and won’t tolerate any bins getting launched. jb me in cruise nightclub really would rather be stuck in a lift with Jacob Rees mogg

Gutted I couldn't make it down there last night, but sounds like the team are beginning to play in the image of the managers. Not only is the work rate and endeavor there, but we're adding a bit of quality to that too. What is also shows is that the squad depth is perhaps better than what we thought given that we turned in a great performance with a lot of players injured or out on loan. Looking forward to seeing the highlights.

Not bad for a bunch of Ramsbottom 'rejects' 😂 I don't think anyone has called them 'Ramsbottom rejects'.

I'm guessing Stopforth ran home after the game? What an absolute animal. Would hate coming up against him. Some players have to be told to run in training, Stopforth has to be told to stop, instead. Did more running tonight, than last years squad did all season. Also said that at the game. He’s everything last seasons squad weren’t. Scary to think we’ve just beaten third placed BPA scoring five, gone away to one of the best teams in the league Boston and won 2-0, then beaten the best team in the league (imo) who are also unbeaten and beaten them deservedly - and this is without many key players - no full backs at all, captain missing in the middle, George Green who’s probably our best player, no Deane Smalley etc etc. I think we’ll be alright this season.

All pace, no end product it sadly. Very jittery on the ball and unsure what to do once he's beat his man. He is a young lad who has played a handful of games. Jesus Christ give him time. You can’t argue with what I’ve said, so far, though. Just gets to the edge of the box and hesitates.

The lad is desperate to win a contract and is guilty of trying too hard, we have been told by the management that he’s very direct but sometimes he just needs to relax and play the simple ball.

I've seen it reported further up the thread that Iwan Murray did well to stay on his feet for the pen but now read this from the match report on the Harriers Online site.
when Joel Taylor won the ball cleanly in the area the late addition to the Chester side, Iwan Murray, dived flamboyantly to win the penalty.
I suspect both can't be true!

I suspect both can't be true! The truth is it was a reckless challenge to make in the area and Murray tried to stay on his feet to his credit. The ref didn't get much wrong on the night. Yes, their penalty was debatable but more and more are being given when a cross strikes a defenders arm area. The only thing I will say about the ref was he was very, very lenient when it came to giving cards out. Kidderminster's foul count must have been horrendous on the night, I suspect they thought they could bully us like they did last season, and I don't think the ref gave them more than two yellows.

Stopforth seen in Lille this morning heading in the direction of Belgium. He did stop off in Deal Services for a Nutri-grain bar and a Vitamin Water on the way.

We’ve got the Nuneaton game coming up which will make it 2. All the other teams have played 10, we have played 9 = 1 game in hand. It won't be 2 games in hand until all the others have played. I know that.

How is it ‘’ludicrous’’ when my original thinking was just based on the fact that we have 2 postponed games still to play? All what matters is we won last night, and I believe that this discussion should come to a close. There are far superior matters to squabble about than this.

Good to hear Mahon had another good game last night. I've probably been his harshest critic on here but he was excellent on Saturday, culminating in the sublime through ball for the second goal. Is it just me or is he running more direct at opposition defences,, rather than always cutting inside? I'd still like him to get on the ball further up the pitch, as no doubt he can beat defenders, but credit where it's due he is delivering at the moment. Just hope he can stay fit.

To do it against a team that looks like it will be pushing for the auto promotion place at the end of the season is fantastic.
