Following a goalless draw on Saturday, we will return to the Swansway earlier than anticipated where we play Southport at home tomorrow night in the FA Trophy 3rd Qualifying Round Replay. We will find out our potential opponents for the 1st Round at 14:30 today, although it’s inportant that we get past Southport first. Saturday’s game was very dire so I’m hoping that the replay will be a lot more eventful.
Our opponents may have one eye on their FA Cup tie at Tranmere Rovers this weekend so could rest a couple of players. Also, we will now have a better idea of Southport’s style of play so should have an improved game plan to execute the likes of Dion Charles and Devarn Green. Overall we should have a better chance of progressing due to home advantage, so it’s vital we take this opportunity to put £5,000 in the bank.
Southport will be making the short journey from Merseyside with a few blues connections. Of course they have Jordan Archer, Liam Davies, Ryan Astles and Jason Gilchrist amongst their ranks, whilst Jon McCarthy is the assistant manager so it will be interesting to see what reception he will be given. They made a poor start to the season but are currently 7 matches unbeaten so they won’t provide us with an easy game.
Attendance wise I don’t expect loads to turn up due to the very short notice, although we have a decent chance of progressing. A replay isn’t ideal for either side but we just have to take this under our chin to get past Southport. Hopefully the match will be a lot more entertaining than Saturday’s which was very short of action. On the whole I expect us to scrape through to the 1st Round. COME ON CITY!
Score: Chester FC (Mooney, Howson) 2-0 Southport Attendance: 847 (58 Southport) COYB!

Presume he means at 90 minutes like the bookies do for Match Result. He should do a separate poll for "To Qualify".

Pretty sure execution would be a straight red and with current injuries and suspensions we can't afford any more players out ;-)

We’ve agreed to Southport’s pricing structure so under 18’s are paying £5 for a dead FA Trophy game.
Meanwhile those same under 18’s can get in for a quid for the big clash against Darlington a few days later.
One to keep in mind for those who moan we charge too much.

Surely this is going to be a sell-out with the dazzling skills of Liamaldo Davies on display under the Deva floodlights.
If Liamaldo plays we are going to get annihilated for sure.

Give Cain and Lloyd a go if they haven’t got a youth team game this week.

Rain forecast to decrease until 7pm, when it stops altogether. Makes it a perfect night for watching football, fresh and not too cold. Been looking forward to this since 5pm Saturday. Get down there!
