Thought we just about deserved to win today, overall it was a pretty even game between two clearly out of form sides, pretty similar to the game against Eastleigh last week except for the fact we won it in the last minute instead of losing it.
Dreadful pitch, really was tough going on that, couldn’t pass a ball on it at all and with a combination of a really poor referee and the blustery wind you can guess how it went. First half was pretty even with Hughes having our best effort cleared off the line, neither side created much, Dawson had our only other attempt from memory which flashed well wide. We were the better side in the second half with more possession, Richards had a good effort palmed away by their keeper after bursting through one on one but was closed down as he took the shot. Lynch had earlier made a really good save for us from a long range effort and also kept one out straight after half time after Hudson mucked up literally seconds after coming on, Hughes later cleared that danger away.
Credit to Macca, he got it right today. Went back to basics with 4-4-2 and we were difficult to break down. Enforced reshuffle at half time by the looks of it as Hunt took knocks in the first half, Turgott took him out right in front of us. Also, Dawson had to come off. I really like this lad but it just wasn’t his pitch, he was turning as quickly as the Titanic on it and couldn’t spray the ball around, he was also walking a tightrope on a booking.
Sam Hughes was head and shoulders the best out there at centre back in the first half and coped well out of position later. Kane Richards also put in a good shift and performed well, he still frustrates, but can’t knock the lad today myself. Lloyd improved enormously once switched in to the middle. He’s not looked himself recently and although he came here as one, he’s no left sided midfielder now. Annoyingly, I’m not sure we can fit him, Shaw and Dawson in to the same starting XI.
Ugly game on a pretty horrendous pitch but the lads battled well, bit of luck maybe with that poor surface maybe playing a part in our winner. The points are by and large coming away from home at the moment, three wins on our travels since our last triumph at the Deva. We’re perhaps set up to be better on the road but there’s also less pressure. The atmosphere on the terrace at an away game couldn’t possibly be more different to what it is at home. We turn up expecting it to be difficult and get behind them, from first whistle to last. At the Deva everyone just turns up in a grumpy and expectant manner and turns on them quickly when it doesn’t go our way.
On that note, happy to get Barrow out of the way and then roll on Torquay!

These two were the stand out players today! 😂😂 That possibly is worrying Thought Lynch played well though couldn't agree that Richardo as it said in team sheet was stand out. He certainly stood out in terms of poor ball control and getting caught offside. He battled more than I have seen in some games . JM sees potential in him and thinks defences find him difficult to play against. We seem to lack a quality midfielder or two to control possession. It's a very inexperienced squad and I'd be tempted to bring in one or two wise heads

Always felt one goal would settle it - Hudson was badly caught out early in the second half when he ran back towards our corner flag with the ball and managed to lose it, allowing their player to cut in and cross. A decent delivery and that could have turned the game. We got away with it against a poor team but might have been a different story against one of the better ones. When Hughes goes a priority will be to find a decent CH to partner Astles (assuming he stays). Looks like Killock's days are numbered - suggestion is that he's injured again.

Yeah, we did get away with it a bit, but there’s that bit of luck that’s been deserting us for so long. Bromley were surprisingly poor, they didn’t really offer much at all, they didn’t look a bad side down here a few months ago. They tried to pass the ball around more than us but think we recognised that probably wasn’t the best option on that pitch, hence why Dawson went off. I keep trying to convince myself that Hudson can do a job to an extent, average for the level. But when you see him make gaffe’s like the one straight after he came on it’s difficult. They are a fairly common sight after all.

Credit has to go to the manager. It's been a torrid few weeks and he was staring down the barrel a bit after the past week. Personally I was starting to doubt and question but we are so close to our season goal of safety. It would be nice to hit that target as soon as possible and then see how the team can play without that pressure on them.

Well done all,on yesterday's result. It doesn't matter if we were poor,we went away from and ground out a win which puts us almost safe. It still does not takeaway the fact that we need to prepare for next season because if our recent run (2017) was to continue into next season we would definitely be in a relegation scrap. The club need to now look at the whole infrastructure around the football side of the business and how we go forward in both the short but more importantly the long term. We need to start by bringing in and somehow financing a recruitment team and also add some more football experience within the boardroom even if we lean on one of the ex players.

They did well to find any footage. Durrell's shot for the goal is better than I orginally gave him credit. Good strike with his left foot. Seems to divide opinion much like Rooney, but IMO he's a decent player and always works hard. He was chuffed to bits at the end of the game

Things have been a bit ropey lately and that is a more than useful three points on what sounded a shocking pitch. It's a step nearer to safety but I guess some people are never happy.

On the run we're on, we were hardly going to go down there on a gusty afternoon, on a bumpy pitch, and play like Barcelona. Yes it sounds like we rode our luck a bit but I think it's encouraging that we can do that and grind out the odd result. This time last year we seemed incapable of scrapping out three points. The only games we could win were ones like Aldershot and Torquay when the opposition played very poorly and we were able to turn on the style. We do need to follow it up though, and are overdue a home win.

If we were a team pushing for a playoff place I don't think he'd be what we need, nor would Rooney for that matter.

Having just watched the highlights, someone ask Hudson what on earth he is doing there? unreal.
Interesting Wrexham vs Tranmere clashes with the merseyside derby for TV. Another odd choice from BT, surely be a weekend to pick a southern fixture?

Having just watched the highlights, someone ask Hudson what on earth he is doing there? unreal. It is bizarre. Running it into the corner and then attempting some sort of dummy. Still, a clean sheet.
