They are, which is why they are not on Rio’s list.

Sorry I read it that his list was of retained players as I thought Morgan and Wareing were.

Out of contract players keep:
Danny Elliott Anthony Dudley George Waring Scott Burton Danny Livesley Simon Grand Akwasi Asante (unlikely I know) Matty Waters Iwan Murray Give Matty hughes another trial period like last pre season And give rest youth players out contract the same opportunity too
The rest can go

I would expect everyone out of contract will be released, purely for financial reasons. Some tough decisions ahead.

I understood the frustration with him last season, I was very much in ‘waste of money’ camp but I think when he’s played this season he’s actually been outstanding at times. In my opinion better than Roberts and Stopforth.

The entire midfield needs a rethink. We need a few more six footers in the side. Got bullied out of away games too often against supposedly inferior teams.

We’re a relatively small team compared to a lot of others, especially when Waring and Livesey are injured, I’m not sure there’s anyone else above 6 foot.

Glad someone else sees this As I said, I think people overriding opinions are based on his first season, he came in with a reputation after winning the league with big spending Salford but didn’t hit the ground running here. When he’s played this season he’s been very good, it’s as simple that really.

Next season if and when the league starts it will be all about value foe money there will be literally hundreds of players without clubs so it would make sense to me to wait and see what’s available for the money we will have.

Spot on. At present next season is quite an ‘if’, and of course we don’t know how many clubs may go to the wall, whether they regionalise at a higher level or not. Squads may well be smaller if football restarts and there is every chance that the market will be awash with players. Basic supply and demand dictates that salaries/wages will be lower as well.

I would expect everyone out of contract will be released, purely for financial reasons. Some tough decisions ahead. All bets are off really. Whoever is out of contract should go. We need to retain as few as we can because football aint coming home this year. There is going to be Thousands of players on offer when the leagues decide to reform. We don't know what league we will be in, there may be a massive restructure on the horizon. In theory we could find ourselves playing at a higher level if the National league reforms and regionalises into North and South. The EFL might decide to make the National league into League 3, which in effect would put us in a 'National league' and one step from EFL. They could weaken the leagues by making 3 leagues below the National league...we just don't know where we will be in six months from now. There are going to be some changes that is for sure, but until we know what level we are going to be playing it may be a good idea to have as few players as possible retained because we will not know what quality of player to chase.

Up to now I would imagine most clubs at our level will have put in place the same cost saving measures as us, and obtained the same relief and grants that we have. Those with the largest number of players and staff still under contract will be the first to feel the pinch as furloughing starts to wind down. I think that teams in NL Premiership may be more vulnerable than NLN.

Fylde's owner has proposed that clubs in the NL should have their playing budgets capped at £750,000 - wages, transfer and agents fees, with players wages capped at a maximum of £750 pr wk. Apparently a number of clubs owners in L2 are now in favour of a limit of £1.25 million for playing budgets and £950 pr wk maximum for players wages.

In the NL, it's plausible we could get toward the upper end of the limit with some growths in revenue

Now our season is now definitely over, apart from those already mentioned, who else do we think/want to be retained? To me the core of the team - ie keeper, centre backs, centre mid need to be improved. Forwards wise we're probably about there, Waring and Elliot we know will have better games than they did today and I always forget how effective a fit Hughes can be, Dudley has to be a starter for me. W Full backs and wingers I think we're good for now

Lost track of who is under contract for next season aside from the obvious Worsnop who has just signed and Goodwin who has been given a pro deal, Think Glendon, Johnston and Taylor too?
I would say cut our losses with Johnston but it’ll cost us too much to cancel his contract this early. Shame really, from the evidence so far he’s going to be another Burton.
As for the rest, it looks like Gary Roberts is on his way and Burton should follow him. Can only keep one of Grand and Livesey - Grand for me.
Waters is easily the best set piece taker and crosser at the club, should be in the side ahead of Johnston.
Definitely keep Kevin Roberts, Morgan, Stopforth, Jackson and Hughes and Dudley
Elliott, Waring and Marsh-Hughes good backup and different options, I’d like to see more of Elliott who showed flashes last season.
We need another keeper, two centre backs and definitely two central midfielders.

Think Johnston needs time anyway, only played a handful of games so far. Strongly disagree with getting rid of Livesey. Think you've more or less got the rest spot on.

Know what you mean about Livesey but really think we can only keep one of the two ageing centre backs and Grand edges it - slightly more mobile. Other than that you can’t separate them. Taylor and Waters down the left will be first class next season, can interchange positions and they’re two of of our best players.

Agree with your point but not your conclusion, Livesey is slightly more dependable at CB for me so he'd be my choice. I agree, love Matty Waters & think he's chronically underrated but he's a LB. Neither of them seem comfortable playing further forward.
