With highs of 33° expected AGAIN today, it's time to ask "could the government have done more?" Downing Street knew about this heatwave weeks ago and have done nothing. Shipments of 400,000 pairs of Speedos and 500,000 bikinis, sun cream and Cornettos have reportedly been sent back as unsafe after media claims the shipment was quarantined a month ago and Boris did nothing.
Karen from Chavington said, "We just don't know if it's safe to go outside and sunbathe because we can't function or think for ourselves. Boris hasn't told us either way and all my obese kids need ice cream and sweets, the Hubby can't get out to rob anyone so we're out of lager and weed, I blame the government entirely"
Meanwhile, anti- heat protesters dressed in thick jumpers chanting "cold lives matter" have marched on London, Big Ben has been removed and a giant Mint Feast put in its place by protesters.
The BBC reported earlier, 'clearly the sun has come out and Downing street have done nothing to prevent it.'
A second heat Wave is expected to hit the UK in 4 weeks time .

Shocking from a moderator to take the piss out of the deaths of tens of thousands of people.

Makes no sense even as a joke. It's trying to put down every progressive cause going on at the moment with a tenuous link to the weather, and taking the piss out of blacks and the working class at the same time. Says a lot about the sort of people supporting the government really.

i would think 50% is an exageration .most people agree everybody has the right to feel safe.as for wars we started or are involved in surely the same can be said of all countries.why would any one want to travel through many safe countries to reach france.another safe country.then risk their lives to come to such a horrble country as ours.also see many countries are in recession we are not alone . Why should France have to accommodate asylum seekers while we say "not our problem, we're an island"? Why should it be more France's problem than ours, especially when we have a far worse history of warmongering than they do?

Under the Dublin Regulation, they should apply for asylum in the first EU country they enter, which is normally a Member State on the EU external borders.

That is never going to work though is it? And nor is it fair to the likes of Croatia and Romania who would end up taking in everyone.
It's typical British arrogance to think it just shouldn't be our problem. If people got more worked up about the causes of immigration and less about the effects, life would be a lot better.

My thought were not about who should accommodate refugees more about the fact that if we are such a horrible country why would anyone want to come here. They pass through many fabulous countries(according to some of our posters) but don't want to stop there. Maybe we are not as bad as some would have us think.

Listen, casual racism and laughing at the tragic deaths of thousands of people is fine, just don’t use industrial language.

Because in the vast majority of cases refugees second language is English. Therefore, coming to the UK gives them a far better chance at having a shot at a successful life than the difficulties they would face if they were to stop in the first 'safe country'.

A staggering 620 NHS and Social Care staff have died from Covid19 in the U.K. thus far. Our disgusting and cowardly Government wish to keep the investigations into these deaths secret. How anybody can defend them is beyond me, these scumbags need locking up urgently. Link to article here

Reassuring to hear that the failed Chief Executive of a downmarket broadband provider, with no medical experience whatsoever has been placed in charge of public health in England. What happened at Talk Talk was scandalous, with multiple data breaches, alleged ongoing fraud due to outsourced services and alleged denial of compensation/redress to consumers who suffered financial loss as a result. With a CV like that she should slot in quite nicely with this Government.

It was announced before it has been fully trialledAnd it still hasn't been, or ever will be probably. Any traditional vaccine would only be declared effective after at least a decade of trials. Hence the rushed 'swine flu' vaccine from 2008 caused narcolepsy in a lot of recipients several years later. RNA vaccines contain genetic material but have the advantage of being developed quickly. The lack of clarity regarding the long-term effect of introducing virus RNA into the human body has meant regulators have been unwilling to license a single RNA vaccine anywhere in the world. Any vaccine available in less than 10 years will be horribly undertested or an RNA vaccine. Russia are doing exactly what we will be doing.

Good to see Boris is getting his priorities right. Moaning about BBC Proms taking the lyrics out of Rule Britannia and Land of Hope and Glory.
Boris Johnson knows perfectly well that the lyrics have not been "banned" and this has nothing to do with political correctness. It's because it's being performed in front of no audience this year and public singing in the middle of a pandemic in not advisable. He just knows that if he makes these fiercely patriotic defenses, a lot of people will just say "good old Boris, telling it like it is" without even reading the story.
The story the media should be reporting is "Boris Johnson fumes over instrumental music for made-up reason", but they don't, they play along with it.
