I've spent the past week self-isolating as a precaution after my daughter showed slight symptoms, she's fine now. Tonight I put the bin out and that's the furthest I've been from my house all week.
I won't lie, it hasn't been easy at times. It's kind of like a never-ending "wet playtime" in school. But I've experienced new things. I've managed to get my four-year-old girl into '90s indie, I've painted rainbows on our windows with her, I've tried to cook with mixed success, today I even tried yoga (not doing that again!)
I hate this "social distancing" term that's being used, firstly because I think it's a jargon term that's open to interpretation, but also because we need to be social. It's "physical distancing" we need to do. Speak on the phone, send texts, use WhatsApp, use social media (responsibly). If you want a chat, ask somebody, ask me if you need to, whether I know you or not.
We will get through this, and it will be something special when we do.

Take this time to really appreciate our NHS. We’ve got to fight more than ever to save it, the best thing Britain has ever produced. Solidarity to all those workers fighting the tide trying to save lives by risking theirs in the biggest international crisis of our time ✊✊

The NHS are really stepping up to the plate. I worked in the NHS for 15 years and loved my job, the camaraderie, the social life with my mainly female colleagues. We were like and extended family. The only problem was the HR department. Absolute twats. My mate and fellow Chester supporter Tim is an HR manager in a different discipline and when I told him how I was being treated (for something that I was completely innocence of) he was speechless. I was asked if I'd return about 5 years ago, but my experience with HR put me off.

And to those coming out of retirement to help the fight. I hope at the end of all this, all these key workers in the wide and varied job roles up and down the country are recognised accordingly with nice big pay rises

It looks like the government will need to make the lockdown even more severe. Many people in the capital still treating it as a bank holiday unfortunately.
London is a ticking time bomb hence the reason for NHS Nightingale.
Hopefully a miracle happens and it doesn’t lead to Madrid and Bergamo type casualties.

I've been retired 10 years and in those years I think there were 8 years of pay freezes.

Don’t understand why people are saying it’s a confusing message from the Government. The Government has been absolutely clear! Stay at home unless you can’t work from home unless you’re not a key worker in which case stay at home unless your boss tells you not to especially if you work in construction in which case stay at home unless you can’t. It’s very simple really.

I do think that if these measures are observed properly then we have a real chance of narrowly avoiding the kind of situation we're seeing in the places you mention. As you say though, the message bizzarely isn't hitting home even now.

I see Trump thinks America will be over the worst by Easter (just over a fortnight away), even though infection rates are rocketing in New York. I'm starting to think he's just an old man losing his mind.

London is like a biodome full to the brim with a load of boat shoe wearing, giant man-babies all working in 'recruitment' or 'banking' who spend every waking hour thinking about when they're next going to hoover up a line of coke. Also, this interview with a boomer on Radio Solent is absolutely astonishing - worth a listen

Disastrous person to have in control of a major country at any time, but especially one like this.

NHS is on its arse. Was before this. If the media knew the reality there would be mass hysteria. Nurses told not to comment on fb about what’s going on. Told no ppe get on with it and they are. Patients saying no one in a house and then they get there and there’s 10. No one showing symptoms and then they get there and they are. It’s a disaster.

On a more light hearted note I didn't realise the quality of daytime TV since Lockdown. Never really watched it since a University student but have had it on in the background whilst working from home. "Homes Under the Hammer", "Bargain Hunt", "Claimed and Shamed" and my own personal fave "Doctors". Bad acting, forgotten actors from the 90's and far fetched storylines this soap has it all.
Any other favourites?

I’m juggling working from home with home schooling the eldest and looking after three minions all day. Is alcohol considered “essential shopping”? 😂

I have to be honest and say that I have been retired for a year and now listen to Radio 4 and Classic Rock a lot and do not normally put the TV on till after 7.00 pm. I think the novelty of the programs you mention might wear off Panic bought a CD player last week, when everybody else was buying toilet rolls, so that I can play all my old CD's. Looking forward to plenty of Dr Feelgood, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Squeeze, XTC and Steely Dan. The wife however has ruled out Molly Hatchett and UFO. You can't win them all !

More stupid questions from journalists tonight, mostly about Boris Johnson. For god's sake, he'll get over it and I'm sure we can soldier on without his "leadership" for the time being.
Only sensible journo was the one asking about support for food banks and whether we should regret years of underfunding the NHS. Didn't hear who he was.

Some of the questions from professional journalists were unbelievable. Not really that unbelievable when half have been doing deals with government in exchange for access for years. Anyway, this lockdown business could have been worse tbh. 5 days in and I've managed to get through work OK. Been helped with work laying on free meditation sessions twice a day via zoom. Not really into all that stuff but thought I'd give it a try. I've only got one bottle of beer left in the fridge mind, and I managed to polish off a bottle of whisky in 5 days lol
