I’d say criticising a government that is deliberately allowing its people to die actually displays a support for my country and it’s inhabitants. Low bar I know, but that’s one of your more coherent posts.

I'm not sure that all the voices are being heard. If you had a voice speaking solely for the mental health of citizens, the government would not do what it is doing. Likewise an economic voice. Or a voice for society and community cohesion. Or a financial voice. Or a voice for the family. Or a voice for civil liberties. Or how about the voice which says that divorce, depression, the bottle and suicide will all go up?
It seems to me that the only voice the government is hearing is the one that says "pressure on the NHS". I fear that the country is making a massive mistake.

Herd immunity this was advised by chief m. O and chief scientists. Are these ventilators the ones the e u didn't send to Italy and Spain leaving them to be helped out by Russia. So tell me where we have sent equipment to. I guess if we had got ventilators from the British company (Dyson) who no longer pays tax or makes anything here, would that have suited you.

Notwithstanding Derry Blue's sarcasm, someone will start to speak up. Speak up for the youngsters who are losing months of education; speak up for those unable to take up university places; speak up for those who are unable to access physiotherapy or hydrotherapy services; speak up for those who face long term financial ruin. And the voices will get louder.

Even police chiefs are warning individual forces against overreaching their lockdown powers with Derbyshire coming under particular criticism from former Supreme Court justices. Not only did they use drones to pick out one individual exercising but they also dyed the Blue Lagoon beauty spot near Buxton black to make it less appealing, damaging it. Disgraceful abuse of powers.
National Police Chiefs Council (NPCC) and College of Policing are rushing through guidance reminding officers that despite politicians’ warnings they cannot bar people from going for a run or a drive.
According to the Guardian, senior police commanders are understood to have been concerned over how the unprecedented powers were being implemented in their first few days by some forces, with Lancashire police issuing 123 enforcement notices since Thursday and Bedfordshire police issuing none.
The guidance contrasts with local police actions that have ranged from Derbyshire Police filming dogwalkers in the Peak District with a drone to officers telling a shop to stop selling Easter eggs deeming them “non essential.”
The problem here, again, is the confusing messages coming out of Number 10.

so do tell how you would sort it I wouldn’t spend my time licking my fingers at the Coronavirus Press Conference like Dominic Raab did today, the dirty Tory scumbag. “Dirty Tory scumbag” allowed, “killing with incompetence” allowed, “allowing its people to die” really horrible things to say but allowed because they are posted by the chosen ones. But call a chosen one a “nasty piece of work” and yet another post is removed. But I get the “light moderation” that this board is supposed to prefer doesn’t exist in every case.

From what started out as a good thread it has drifted once again to slagging off the government by Labour voters. I would much rather see reasoned remedies but seeing as nobody comes up with any it may be a good idea if we all read the first post and then got back on track

It’s very tiresome seeing the same cabal of posters (one of whom isn’t even a Chester fan so Lord only knows what he is doing skulking around this off-topic forum) jumping on everything one particular poster says and sidetracking whole threads with petty arguments. How is everyone enjoying sort-of-official-ish-lockdown today? I’m juggling working from home and home schooling my kids again. Think this will be a medium-term thing by the looks of it.

I'll add some criticism of Labour to the mix - being rightly mocked for putting down an amendment calling for an emergency £10 a week to be added to child benefit for the duration of the virus. I'm sure £10 will be ideal for a child who is now at home 5 extra days a week with a parent who is only getting 80% of their income. Truly inspirational stuff.
Hope I'm wrong, but its probably a good opening sign of the sort of insipid piss-poor excuse of an 'opposition' we're about to get in this country again under Keir Starmer.

If their so called “big brother” approach saves one life from the infection it will have been worth it. No it won't. Millions have died over centuries for the freedoms that you give away so readily. The virus is a Trojan horse. When it gives way, these new powers will stay.

I give thanks every day that Corbyn lost the election. The thought of him running the country at this time is frightening. Mind you Corbynistas seem to know better than anyone - on any subject you like.

It’s a shame it took such a crisis for that to happen but never mind.

Mind you proves my point, Corbynistas know the answer to everything - just a pity they give us their wonderful views while we discuss any subject at all.
