So the 4 week lock down begins in England just a few days before the 2 week firebreak is lifted in Wales. In Wales cases and deaths are rising at an alarming rate as they are in the other three parts of the UK. Yet the wise old first minister tells us that fom Monday all will be fine. What odds on a Welsh lock down by Christmas.

My blood is boiling watching that. To sit there smirking and making waving away gestures when questioned on an issue as serious as that. I think people who elect MPs like her need to ask themselves whether these are the quality they admire in people. Would you want your kids to grow up into that thing? I think the problem is people don't look closely at the person they're voting for, just the colour of the rosette they're wearing. A prime example being Robert Roberts in Delyn. I was unlucky enough to have some dealings with him a few years ago and could have told anyone he'd be an absolute waste. He's proved to be even worse than that but because people felt they couldn't vote for Labour then Tory was their choice, regardless of the fact he's a turd. He’s unfortunately my MP now - if you can call it that because he clearly doesn’t represent any of his constituents, preferring to argue on social media when questioned by those who democratically elected him, and then there’s that sex scandal he’s been involved in. Absolute scum, like the rest of his party. The sad thing is, although I always saw David Hanson as more of a centrist Blairite and not in tune with my own politics, he was undoubtedly an excellent represtative MP championing many local and national causes. A great loss to Delyn especially considering the clown we’ve got now.

There is a lot of debate about the necessity of this four week lock down. As I live in Wales like a good few Chester supporters, now after two weeks firebreak we are coming out of lock down on monday. Infections and deaths are rising daily yet we are told pubs open gyms open all shops and god knows what else. Just wondering what other people think of this.i think it's too early.

The problem with a 2 week firebreak is that you don’t see if there are any benefits until about 2 weeks after it has finished. If 2 weeks ultimately proves long enough then fine, if it doesn’t then you face an increased likelihood of multiple lockdowns. There is no definitive way to approach this as shown by the variable approaches by the four home nations. Just hope there is progress across the whole of the UK. Scotland seemed to have got the best approach early on, but now seem to be just as much in the shit as everyone else.

I’d trust the advice and rules of any of the other three devolved Home Nation governments over the Tory death cult, that’s for sure.

I mean he literally hasn't done that once but you keep doing you fella I presume that's for me. Have you seen the history of the guy he is anti English and has been from a young age. He makes remarks about how we do things different than the English but we get it right. I met the last fm on 3 occasions and found him approachable and easy going.

Any links to these quotes where he says he “hates the English”? My only gripe with the FM is the fact that he’s pro-Union when this pandemic has shown utterly that the Union does not benefit Wales, Scotland or The Occupied Territories of the North of Ireland at all.

He apparently thought trashing any signs written in English was the right thing to do when he was in university.he wanted to stop english coming over the border to visit their own houses and caravans, yet did not mention the thousands of Welsh who travel daily to England to work.

I couldn't care less whether he is anti-English or not, why does that bother you? What should matter is whether he is doing a decent job, which by all accounts, and polling, he is. Of course he's taken a different approach to the English government because the English government has one of the worst Covid records in the world. Would you like him to do a purposefully bad job just to stay in line with England? Also, as someone who knew Carl Sargeant, I can say with some degree of certainty that had Mark Drakeford been First Minister instead of Carwyn Jones, Carl wouldn't be dead today.

Two weeks behind?
Wales locked down two weeks ago. England are locking down now.
Also, your last point seems to suggest that the FM should have prevented people from working? From their livelihoods? Their ability to pay the mortgage/rent and put food on the table?

I put my name forward for the vaccine trials as they were short of people from my age group, have been accepted and due to start very shortly.

Let’s hope the vaccine is made available based on need and not based on the ability to afford it. I wouldn’t put it past this government...

Let’s hope the vaccine is made available based on need and not based on the ability to afford it. I wouldn’t put it past this government... watching the briefing the distribution will be made on most vunerable, front line NHS workers, and care homes, then age related from over 80s down. no mention of ability to pay.

Last night’s Channel 4 Dispatches Lockdown Chaos programme was a bit of an eye opener regarding the scale of Tory corruption and incompetence. These people have blood on their hands and need jailing. Absolute psychopaths, the lot of them.

How on Earth is it possible to have a Christmas market in a Tier 3 county? Apparently Nottingham has one.

During the 1st lockdown Hastings was one of the lowest affected areas however we are moving into tier 3 in on Saturday and me and the wife have made the heartbreaking decision not to visit our daughter on Christmas day as planned. I have to say that the break in restrictions over the Christmas period is the wrong decision, people cannot be trusted to act sensibly and I think that whatever tier an area is in those restrictions should apply over the holiday period after all the virus won't take a holiday. I know there are a lot of lonely people out there who are really being affected by all these restriction and it is causing a lot of mental health problems so you can understand why politicians of all 4 nations want to give some leeway but I believe in this instance they are all wrong

Yesterday he addressed the Commons, warning that families meeting over Christmas could be “very dangerous” and risk a third wave. Ok, fair enough. But 24 hours previously he attended a Christmas dinner with... 27 guests... at a private members club in Mayfair. P.S. Funny I didn’t know where Wortley was, so now you’ve said Hastings I’m going to call you “Bob Crass” from now on.
