Interesting to hear Boris Johnson put the the UK's vaccine success down to greed and capitalism in a Tory meeting. I feel that when he lets the bumbling toff mask slip and is with his preferred company, this is what drives the man. Many will not have a problem with this and say we should look after ourselves first, but I feel if you take this attitude, you can't then criticise the EU for being similarly selfish and prioritising their own block. We've told the EU we don't want to be part of it and can look after ourselves, so now's a chance to prove it. Funded by the state. Developed through collaboration. Made possible through volunteer test subjects. Administered by a socialist institution - the NHS. Yep, proper oozes capitalism that🤪🤪

16000 plus Germans flock to Majorca for Easter. Infection levels currently considered low for Majorca, not for long! The Germans don’t want to import cases from France so put control measure in place, but are not prepared to put control measures in place to prevent exporting cases. Majorcans happy to quarantine positive cases that arise. Let’s hope we keep our foreign travel restrictions in place a good while longer, although I expect some will always try to find a way round.

The Stanley Johnson rule still applies for the U.K. - rich British citizens who need to look after their second home/holiday home or wish to go and purchase a second home/holiday home abroad are able to travel. The rest of us aren’t.

Remember seeing a zoom interview with Joe Anderson on BBC morning news during earlier restrictions. The location caption showed him to be at his holiday home in Talacre.

Like it or not, we live on an island and people will need to leave to mange business and their interests

He was telling us to stay at home but telling us all about his lockdown breaches at the same time.

Got to admit I'm surprised it took nearly a week for anyone to pull FOP up on announcing he's going to Prague this summer. Bit slow on the uptake, some of you!

Isn't that as much Majorca and Spain's fault as Germany's though. Surely they could stop it? It's funny how it's all turned upside-down though. Germany was the country to follow for most of last year but now seems to be making a right arse of things. Conversely, we've been a disgrace, but the vaccine rollout has been superb. Still not convinced we're getting much else right though.

Not at all just waiting for his condemnation of the rich people travelling and then it came Got to admit I'm surprised ours and other governments aren't urging people to holiday in their own countries later in the year. I would've though it makes a lot of sense economically to make the best of a bad situation by promoting British tourism. I'm hoping to have a few days in the Lake District later this year - never thought I'd look forward to that so much! Given holidays are expensive, I've no wish to go abroad at the moment knowing that with the situation so volatile, I might not be able to do anything when I get there.

Totally agree there are so many beautiful places here in the UK that match almost anywhere in the world our only drawback is the weather which doesn't bother me but it must be a nightmare if you have young children.

I expect many people will be saying they are at their holiday homes in France to manage business when mange is what they are actually there to do...

Not that I have to justify it to any of you right-wing bullies but the planned trip to Prague is to see my brother get married (his wedding was postponed last September due to Covid).

"Of course I am referring to current restrictions, hopefully it'll all be OK by August." - also my words, incidentally.
Expect better from a so-called "moderator". The literal definition of a moderator of a debate is to remain impartial on the subject and only step in if rules are broken. Your posting history, including deliberately attempting to wind-up other forum members, demonstrably proves that are not fit for purpose.
On the reaction to the "bullies" remark, its the same three posters always jumping on my posts every single time - one of them is a MODERATOR!

So it’s okay for a moderator to have an opinion if they agree with your opinion but if they don’t then it’s not?

What do people think about the whole Covid passport idea? I see MPs as different as Corbyn and Duncan-Smith are against it.
I'm not sure myself. To be honest I'm fed up of how regimented everything is. I understand it's necessary now but I don't want to be spending the next few years signing in and out of pubs. I miss spontaneity.
The sort of person who chooses not to get a vaccine doesn't need any excuse to whine on about it, so maybe just leave them to it and if they get ill it's their own stupid fault.

They’ll never be able to implement a COVID passport scheme at such short notice because of the administration involved. I mean I’ve had the first vaccine but I’ve got no proof I’ve had it. That means someone will have to produce a driving license type card for everyone and no doubt update it as boosters are given. It’s okay the government saying that it’s up to individual pubs and restaurants if they want to ask for proof of vaccination but at the minute no one can produce anything that says you’ve definitely had the jab.

Personally I don't think a passport scheme will work or is really needed we don't have it for the flu jab. I have a card which says when I had the 1st and 2nd jabs surely that's enough.

When you have your jabs you get a card showing when you had them and which vaccine. 2. There is an app in Playstore where your doctor registers that you have had the jabs so you would be able to show this as proof also
