They're just lucky we have the best healthcare system in the world. Which, as exemplified by the news of the last couple of days, they are heightening their attempts to turn the public against.

Covid cases yesterday: France: 1,120 Spain: 1,277 Italy: 1,561 Germany: 4,872 UK: 40,224 We are now the epicentre of the pandemic and the Tories appear to have given up. Absolutely shaming dereliction of the duty of Government to protect the people. Why nobody in the media is holding them to account is frightening, you can bet your bottom dollar if this was a Corbyn led administration the outrage would be deafening. Unfortunately COVID is yesterday's news. Everyone's too busy going on about a shortage of Paw Patrol toys at Christmas to worry about a global epidemic. The UK's deaths per 1 million people have been (up to the last 2/3 weeks) lower than Germany, Spain, France and Italy. The current figures will no doubt change again as they have throughout the pandemic. www.theguardian.com/world/2021/oct/15/why-britons-are-tolerating-sky-high-covid-rates-and-why-this-may-not-last

I think you'll find my quote is correct in that they have consistently been a lot lower. Far far lower still than the USA The last 2/3 weeks they have been higher until the pendulum swings back again.

The U.K. provided 20% of the entire world’s Covid cases yesterday. “We always knew the coming months would be challenging,” Boris Johnson’s official spokesperson said. “What we are seeing is case rates, hospitalisations and deaths still broadly in line with the modelling as set out a few months back now. Absolutely astounding that this was modelled. They stopped mandatory masks in confined places, allowed mass events without vaccine passports and did not vaccinate children KNOWING this would be the consequence. And now, thousands dead, hospitals over-stretched & a new variant. You cannot help but wonder if this strategy is a deliberate attempt to finally break the NHS and replace it with an American system, providing yet more money making opportunities for the Tories and their sponsors. Nobody is that callous surely?

you need to go have a lie down. 223 U.K. Covid related deaths in last 24 hours, 17 in Germany. Yeah, nothing to see here, Government is doing a great job.

Just read a piece lauding the fact that 68% of footballers are double jabbed. Doesn't seem that great to me. That means a third aren't even though they've been offered to everybody over 18.

We are being told to live with a virus that’s killing 1,000 of us a week, by a government that doesn’t give a shit, but we’re not allowed to call them out on it because that’d be mean and hurtful.
Have I got that right?

Great stuff, time to celebrate. So would your answer be to have a national lockdown again until their are no related deaths & all the variants have been eradicated?

There was a thread asking how people would approach the winter. it remained fairly silent on such things as this lot like to wait for glorious hindsight first. Apart from Ian tbf. Ian wants us all back in our houses never to be seen again.

There was a thread asking how people would approach the winter. it remained fairly silent on such things as this lot like to wait for glorious hindsight first. Apart from Ian tbf. Ian wants us all back in our houses never to be seen again. Glorious hindsight? Hardly, it’s the monumental lack of foresight that is the issue. Almost every comparable country seems to be managing the pandemic better than us (not difficult) so clearly something is very wrong with the Government’s strategy (assuming they even have one). Don’t believe I or anyone else is calling for a full lockdown, although should cases and deaths increase at their present rate, we might have to. Rather we should follow the examples of Germany, France, Spain etc., and mandate the use of masks in indoor settings, limit the size of gatherings and kickstart the vaccination programme (especially in schools), as we have slipped way down the league table for vaccination rates. It’s not a difficult concept, although some Tory boys see their ever so fragile masculinity threatened by wearing a bit of cloth on their face. The fact that this Government has only convened Sage three times since July indicates that they have abandoned science completely, with terrible consequences. Easy to be flippant about 150,000 families losing loved ones, many as a result of Government failures, but most right thinking people are looking on in horror.

Easy to be flippant about 150,000 families losing loved ones, many as a result of Government failures, but most right thinking people are looking on in horror. I think there's a middle ground between all approaches you've mentioned. I wouldn't agree with limiting the size of gatherings, as I doubt people would buy into obeying that as they did first time around, the damage on economy and jobs for industries that are still trying their best to recover would be a hammer blow, and I don't think the figures of current deaths warrant taking that kind of action nationally. Nobody wants to see deaths, but they will sadly occur with or without restrictions and as horrible as it sounds we will have to have a level of what is acceptable. I think vaccine passports are a viable option for large gatherings (gigs, football matches etc) as it would at least ensure that those in attendance are double jabbed - I get that there is an ethical/moral debate to be had about creating a split society but it seems like a sensible solution certainly over the winter period where figures are expected to rise anyway. Mask wearing could be re-imposed, which I think would be fair if numbers continue to rise as unfortunately most people seem to have binned them off now they don't have to wear them. So yeah, I wouldn't wanna take the European approach as we need to learn to cope with Covid with as much normality as possibly allowed, but there's small, easy wins the Government can and probably should put into place to be trying to keep a bit more control over it all.

Mask up, get your booster and hide in your house like the good citizen you are. Who’s hiding Bob, been working on site most of today? As for wearing a mask, I’m quite secure in my masculinity that wearing a mask doesn’t bother me. It’s only the thick as mince right wing snowflakes who have a problem with it. Man up, lad.

The ironic thing about you is you constantly call out people who vote for the blue team 'bootlickers' whilst at the same time you're begging the government you hate to impose restrictions and lock you down for a virus that basically resembles a bad flu season. You're as servile as the bootlickers you hate. And you know it.

Pointing out the incompetence of the posh boys you’re ever so anxious to please isn’t the same thing. As for Covid being just bad flu, not sure where you get your information from (Karen on Facebook? @patriotflagshagger on Twitter?) but Johns Hopkins University rates Covid 10 times deadlier than Influenza, so once again you reveal your ignorance. Stick to bothering brown people in rubber dinghies or booing the telly when footballers take the knee.

Probably got a kick from intimidating shop girls who politely asked him to wear a mask during lockdown. Loves a soft target, like most far right morons.
