It is beginning to look like the season might be over. I cannot see any football being played for a least 2 months which would take us into may.
I am not sure we can manage without any income, we live on what we generate through the gate with no Suger daddy putting money in.
We are by no means the only Club with this problem, but come next season it makes you wonder what the league will look like and which clubs will be missing from the league.

To be fair, we actually have a sugar uncle putting money in.

Wasn't there supposed to be a meeting of the National League yesterday regarding financial help for clubs did it happen? If so what was the outcome?

It's difficult to see how life in general returns to normal in the near future, never mind football.
These restrictions seems likely to go on in some form for up to the next 12 months. I don't think it's really hit us yet, the extent that our lives are changed.

Only my view but I also believe that the season should be terminated now. No extended season, no play offs, etc. As far as promotion and relegation goes I would promote both Kings Lynn and York and relegate the bottom two clubs. We need clarity in order to plan for survival and beyond. The return of attending sporting events as we know it is probably much further away than we hope. Better to wait and return when safe for all. We need to keep financially supporting our club in whatever way as is individually possible. We will be back. Keep well folks.

It wouldn't bother me too much if they promoted King's Lynn and York City from our league and we go again next season. Similarly I'd promote Barrow and Harrogate from the league above, which would really piss Notts County off. I haven't forgot how their vile stewards behaved when we won there 2-1 in out last season in the league.

If you’re finishing the leagues now then they should be voided. Grossly unfair on relegation-threatened teams hitting a run of form and on any playoff chasing side or top four in the PL.
It’ll have to be completed on the pitch. Whenever that may be.

It will be interesting to hear what the National League come up with after their meeting. Extract from statement issued by Leamington FC - We have no idea when football will return nor if the season will be completed. We are in regular contact with the National League who likewise is involved in regular discussions with the FA and other football bodies. The Board of the National League met again on Monday 23 March and we await further updates from them. All individual member clubs have provided them with a ‘financial impact’ assessment together with views on a wide variety of matters regarding potential scenarios moving forward . We continue to explore a range of contingency measures for the club in this fast moving and ever-changing situation that we are keeping under constant review. Hopefully within the next few weeks we will have a greater understanding of all financial support available to us and when, thus enabling us to make clear decisions moving forward. How the season may end is one for our crystal balls. There are many factors to consider, not least player contracts which are set to end at the end April/start of May.

According to Dave Powell's twitter page step 5 and 6 want a void season with no promotion and no relegation my view is whoever's top of the various leagues should win promotion and whoever's bottom should be relegated if they end the season

Personally, I think top 2 promoted and bottom 2 relegated on a points per game basis would give some validity to the season but this would have to be agreed with the EFL and the FA and not just an independent decision by the National League in order to allow the top 2 to be promoted into the EFL which would obviously have a knock-on with the PL also having to agree and I suspect the PL will vote for no relegation/promotion to and from the PL

My order of preference would probably be
1. Resume season when safe to do so at 2/3 games a week
2. Resume season behind closed doors at 2/3 games a week
3. End season with promotions & relegations, probably with the PPG idea
4. Void season
For what it’s worth, can’t see 1 or 4 happening. 3 most likely IMO. If the players are up for finishing the season soon behind closed doors we may see 2. Hopefully, like BPA did on Sat 14th March, all clubs would be allowed to stream their games for free.

It all depends when things get back to (or close to getting back to) normal. Best scenario for me is, after a few weeks from now, as long as the majority of squads/teams staff are healthy and not needing to isolate then games should be played behind closed doors. The league should work quickly to set up/use an online system so fans can pay the normal entry fee to watch a live-stream of the game. That way clubs at least get some of the revenue lost from match-days. Then integrate this back to opening up stadiums dependant on the situation. Obviously that depends on many things; lockdown, disease spread risk at the time, player/management willingness etc. But without re-starting the season in the next month it seems unlikely it will be finished. Edit: Obviously everybody's health comes first before anything else. I hope that everybody connected with Chester FC is coping well during this difficult period. I look forward to seeing everyone back at the Deva soon.

I really don't think that people are realising how serious this virus is. I reckon the soonest we will see a return to legal mass gatherings will be 6 months. Even then I feel it will be restricted. Really hope that I am wrong, but my work depends on this, and this is the advice we are getting from our accountants via specialists in the relevant fields.
Void all leagues. Plan to start again as soon as is safe, and hope that the government come through on their 80% promise not just for salaried staff, but for contracted staff also. This doesn't just effect football contracts, lots of workers on agency and short term contracts at Airbus, Vauxhalls, Shell etc round here.

In that case we could end up just resuming the current season next January or February.

I'll reiterate my complete disagreement with ending the season as it stands now and allowing the promotions/relegations etc when an awful lot can happen in the nine or ten remaining games still to be played, that's almost 1/3 of the season! What about the "top four" (not that it matters too much to be honest) and play-offs lower down the pyramid?
Either void the whole season or, my preference, resume and finish it whenever we can even if its end of 2020/beginning of 2021. If so, just void NEXT season.

Got to do PPG, null and void is totally unfair. If teams have been shite and find themselves in the relegation zone regardless of form they shouldn’t get away with it, nor should the teams at the top below be punished after a great season.

National League/NLN/NLS season to end immediately. Decision to be made on whether to determine season via PPG or declare null and void.
Surely, as above, they'd have to liaise with the ENTIRE pyramid, above and below, to determine promotions and relegations etc (including which playoff teams up and down the pyramid are to be promoted). The can of worms is massive here.

The problem with declaring a season void is that there's no guarantee that the virus won't escalate again at a later date.
Let's say we carry on again in September (wishful thinking), then have to lockdown around Christmas time, there is a good chance that we'll be voiding two consecutive seasons without an issue being resolved.
Surely we should be concentrating on football ALREADY PLAYED, rather than prioritising football which has yet to have been played.
Until an antidote is found, these are going to be very strange times.

You watch they will null and void it then over the Summer if it calms down both Bradford and Blyth will both get a Owner in splash the cash and go up

Here's my take on what should happen now.
Standard season is ended, final table based on PPG. King's Lynn Champions.
If the six playoff clubs can report a full bill of health for their players, management and staff, playoffs are thrashed out behind closed doors.
The playoffs typically only last about 10 days, so we could have this done before the end of the standard season on 25th April, and crucially, before player contracts expire.
Over a month to get these games done. There are issues with this solution- i.e what if a player gets symptoms in the middle of the playoffs, do their team forfeit? Are the playoffs suspended like the season, then it gets to late April and the players are no longer contracted and they have to void it?!
It's the fairest conclusion I can think of though...

Steps 3 and 4 (Northern Premier League etc.) have also voided their campaigns, although the National League are still hopeful of resuming the current season:

The concept of winning the league and promotion has historically been based on results over the season. Since the introduction of play-offs, this has become a bit of a joke, purely based on greed to extend the season. In my book, forget play-offs and promote and relegate on PPG. Football is a results game, not about ifs and buts, and the fact is Coronavirus has effectively ended the season. Seems the only people who disagree are just desperate to see Liverpool fail to win their league.

As I said earlier in my opinion it should be top 2 and bottom 2 on PPG throughout the whole pyramid and forget any play offs it's the only sensible solution to the whole thing. Let's not forget though any solution will depend on what the PL do as that's where the knock on starts so the FA need to pull their fecking finger out as no one can make a decision until they do but they ain't bothered about the plight of lesser clubs so don't hold your breath

Can't help but think this is the sort of thing that should be in writing somewhere. There are all sorts of reasons why a season might not finish, whether it's a pandemic like this, war, or the league going bust. Put something in the constitution saying if the competition can't finish it goes on points per game, the league is voided or whatever. If teams don't like it, tough, they've agreed to it by joining.
I support points per game myself. If you've left it too long to start playing that's the risk you take.

What about non essential travel? We can't have buses full of players going round the country if it's not safe for the general public at the same time. Health has to be the priority. As for ending the season now, that seems a knee jerk reaction. If by some miracle everything was safe before the season was due to end then it could be completed. Better we wait until life returns to normal even if this season is completed in place of next season. With a timescale like that then season 2020/21 could be voided in full giving everyone a level playing field. That seems fairer than using maths, ifs or maybes.
