Thought I'd start a thread with the same intentions as the other one but this time it stays on topic, which is for people to talk about how they're coping in lockdown etc.
Personally I'm finding it a good thing in many ways. I have a 4 year old and this time together is simply something I'd never get in normal life. Consequently I feel like our bond is stronger, and makes you realise how much usual life activities can get in the way of bonding with your family. The spin side of it is that she also drives me mad! Constant questions and demands, and trying to find different ways of entertaining her each day without being able to go to parks/seaside/play centres is tough. I'm thankful I've got a good sized garden where we can play footy etc - I'd go insane being a parent of a young one in a flat at the moment.
I've also enjoyed doing the jobs around the house that I'd never have the time to do, particularly in the garden. And it's quite a nice pace of life without the daily grind of going to the office etc. I'm able to work from home but I can do it flexibly so that I can make the most of the weather in the afternoons and catch up with some work in the evening.
But there's no doubting it's tough too. It's hard being around the same people 24/7, even if they are your loved ones. We all have our escapisms from family pressures etc and it's tough to not be able to release from that, whether that's watching the Blues, playing sport or going to the pub with your mates etc.
Anyone else find that they are boozing more too? Maybe more is the wrong word as I probably drink about the same as I would normally but rather than having more at the weekend I tend to have 2 or 3 each night. I keep saying I'll not drink but after a day of being screeched at by a 4 year old then as soon as she's in bed I find myself reaching for a cold one!

I'm enjoying it. Getting pissed in the week, hammering Netflix, saving money by not being able to go out doing stuff. Queuing up to get into the supermarket is a pain in the arse though.

I've been planning my early retirement for the last 5 years travel, travel and travel some more, converted a campervan (to go travelling) and finally the time came and we both retired at the end of January..... Anyway garden looking great (apart from the mountain of hedge and grass cuttings that need getting rid of), house painted indoors and out and actually really enjoying relaxing and no time pressures on getting things done. Had a few nights sleeping/eating/drinking in the campervan.

Finding it a bit tedious now having been retired for a few years now most of the jobs are done, garden as low maintenance as I can get it but certainly missing a stroll down the seafront to the Old Town for a few beverages still at least we are avoiding all contact so at least keeping safe which is the BIG plus
PS
Well done Si the other thread is getting a bit political now but worth leaving open so this thread isnt hijacked

It is a ballache feeling like you can't nip down to the shops for something. I keep going to ASDA and buying loads of shit I don't really need and when I get home I've forgotten some of the stuff I actually needed. Came back yesterday with multiple half price Easter eggs, but forgot a lot of the veg!

I'm still working as construction projects are allowed to continue as long as we can keep within the government guidelines regarding social distancing, etc... which we can on a vast open air construction site with a fairly small workforce. It's a really strange experience however being out here when everybody else is in lockdown.
I work 120 miles away from home so I can't go home at all even at weekends. No hotels are open except for key workers, which we're obviously not, so the majority of the people on site are living in caravans. Spent the four days over the bank holiday weekend in the caravan watching Netflix, apart from a visit to Tesco.
To be honest the most dangerous thing I've done in the past 4 weeks is visit the local Co-op.

I purchased a jam roly poly a couple of weeks ago. I've not had one in years, no idea why I bought it. And I still haven't eaten it.

You must try the jam roly poly lovely with custard. As regards the drinking I hadn't had a drink in almost 4 years due to illness, even after I was better I didn't miss it but suddenly there's a bottle of brandy on the weekly shopping list.

It's amazing how many people you see out walking with the kids in the evening. A lot of them probably haven't walked further than the end of their gardens to get in their car for years. One thing I have noticed is how much more polite people are since the crisis has begun.

I’m working from home 3 or 4 days a week, but need to visit site or the office at least once a week. I have regular video conferences with colleagues but find being stuck alone in a room for 8 hours a day a real chore, I really miss the human contact. I try to structure my day so I start at 7.30 each morning and finish at 3.30, allowing time to go out for a leg stretch with my daughter (currently doing A level work her school sends her each day). I then prepare tea before picking the wife up from work. She is working 12 hour days working in a greengrocers shop and doing deliveries. Pre-lockdown they used to do 6-10 deliveries each day, now it’s 200 and they’ve had to buy another van and hire a couple of staff. I’m currently engaged in doing civils works, signage and traffic management for existing health centres that are being converted into drive-through Covid19 testing stations. It’s a bit of a rush job as they are going live on Monday.

I think if I had no kids I'd find it pretty easy. I'm not someone who finds it difficult to waste time, as my post count shows! As it is, I've got my four-year-old daughter bounding around a small house all day and it's pretty draining. I actually have less free time than I used to, as I used to spend a few hours a week on the train which was a bit of a chance to chill out.
Still, it is good to be spending more time with her, even if it's not in the best of situations.

Trying to juggle working from home with three boys aged five and under but often doing most of my work at the weekend or late into the evening when my wife is home. We are both essential workers in the NHS but my role enables me to work from home - hers doesn’t at all. I am required in the department once a week currently (on a rota with other staff members) but things are changing so quickly in the health service.

Being of an age where the offspring have fled the nest and having worked long hours often away from home I missed a lot of them growing up so I would say to you with small children make the most of this enforced family time as they grow up so quickly. I must admit though I do miss seeing the grandchildren even though they tire me out when they are here

I've been retired for a few years now. But what people are saying about enjoying your kids is so true. My youngest was born in 1977 slap bang in the middle of a recession. I had already been made redundant so took the only job I could get. 18 month contract in Poland. This led to contracts in Holland Germany Belgium and France. My daughter was 6 weeks old when I first left and almost 5 years old by the time I finally got back.i did come home evey 3 months but those years I could never get back.

As much as I'm enjoying bonding with my daughter, I can't help feel a tinge of jealously for those who can do whatever they like without having to plan each day around kids. I'd happily binge watch tv or sunbathe in the garden with a few beers.

Seems quite a few of you have 4 year olds. Can't help feeling that there will be a baby boom in 9 months time and quite a few divorces in the next few months!!

All NHS staff are essential workers, whether they can work from home or not, and all NHS staff need to be on standby to be redeployed to key and overstretched areas of the NHS as and when needed, such as in times like these.

Best of both.

I've been buying way too much online, most of which is completely unused:
A 770kg fishing magnet. If you don't know what magnet fishing is, look it up. Sounds good fun if I ever get the chance to go.
A sound bar and speakers for the home cinema sound. Not yet connected.
Home brewing gear. Just need to get a kit and make it up.
Lots of garden equipment that I'll never use e.g. leafblower.
New toolsets, even though my old spanners worked perfectly fine.
A treadmill. Still in mint condition after three weeks.
Plus other crap. I should really stop buying this stuff.

I'm doing on video quiz tonight with the team I play for. We did it last week and I didn't realise how much I'd missed hearing other voices! Another excuse to get a few drinks down me.
