I’m keen to understand what the interest might be in offering fans the opportunity to have a cardboard cut out of themselves (or loved one, pet or similar) at the Deva Stadium while there is no football or football with reduced crowds.
You may have seen these cut outs at Bundesliga games and also in other sports - it seems a great way to be able to show your support for your club while restrictions remain in place.
We have identified a couple of suppliers and the cost would be £25-£35 for your cut out to be fixed in the stadium during the period in which no football is played and no (or limited) crowds are allowed inside grounds.
The idea would be that at the end of the period you review your cut out back but signed by the management team and/or players.
Is this the kind of scheme that appeals? If we could for example sign up 300 fans at £35 this would be a significant revenue even after costs.

One way for us to get absolutely mocked online I guess.

£35, that’s a bit stiff

I think it could be a good idea, especially with the added bonus of getting it signed when returned etc.

If the games will be filmed or streamed etc then possibly, but if its just for the players eyes only then nope... Also, I'm pretty sure they don't cost 25 or 35 quid. I'd suggest this was a fundraiser too far in the current climate

Good idea. Count me in.

For clarity the cost to the club is £12.50.
The likelihood is that if football returns in September we will have a cap on crowds which means not everyone who wants to will be able to attend games. This is a another way of continuing to support the club and ‘attend’ games albeit in cardboard form.
We know from taking to other clubs that it appeals to some and not at all to others.

Really like this idea and would buy one - think it would appeal to our younger fans and maybe those less likely to do the monthly contributions to Boost the Budget.

You could sit next to it and look like twins. Maybe even blame your twin for filming a video!

I love this idea. Though this is probably the worst time in most people’s lives it will become part of history and a moment in time for Chester FC! Need to be part of it.

Personally think this one is a step too far. It only works in the top leagues around the world because they’re being televised. Plus I don’t think my wife would want two of me sat in the living room - ones bad enough!
Looking forward to receiving my retro shirt though and hoping another comes out later in the year.

Who says the cut out has to be of them? You could get a Brad Pitt one, then she wouldn't mind too much. You could sneak out to the pub, or match, and she could stay in with Brad.

Regardless whether this takes off or not its great to see Fundraising coming up with innovative ideas and engaging with other clubs to create our own versions of successful moneymaking schemes. Long may it continue.

Here is the Leeds United version crowdie.leedsunited.com/#/book/customize-productThey sold 15,000 of these in the first 48 hours priced at £25. A profit of £187,500 I know we're not going to sell anywhere near that, however with the same price point and profit margin of £12.50 even sales of 400 would bring in £5,000 - not to be sniffed at And on a separate, serious note could help with Social Distancing when we do get back into the stadium for the first time? Good initiative in my opinion and I'd be in.

When quoting potential profit figures please take into account VAT, so many people forget it. Are these cardboard cutouts subject to VAT.

I know someone who likes to run down to the front when we score to join the celebration...if he pays a bit extra can he have wheels on his cut out?

Great idea. I'd go for this, and two mates. I don't think Leeds fans get to keep theirs, so that's a bit of a bonus.

Dodgy territory if you could make one up of anyone you choose. I could just see it now, photographer captures one of the most important goals in our history as Madeleine McCann, Gary Glitter and Chewbacca watch on!
