For such a brilliant goal, the commentary for the Czech goal was ridiculous. Yeah it was a bit. They reacted with a disappointed sigh and by moaning about Hendry giving the ball away. Most of us watching reacted with amazement. In the other games, Poland were the same as they always seem to be - strong in qualifying, but really dour and uninspiring in tournamants. Only saw the second half of the Spain game but they looked short of ideas. I think teams have sussed them out now and they need to change their style. [br Watching Sweden is tough, but I guess they'd argue the end justifies the means and they had the best chance of the march, despite 15 per cent possession. I don't think Spain's style is the issue, they are just short of a world class striker. Italy have been the stand out team so far but there's five or six that could win it.

I think Sweden came with a game plan, stuck to it and it worked brilliantly. Spain for all their possession were too slow and predictable and it was easy for Sweden to close them down as for entertainment value 1 out of 10 if I push it

Think the Czech republic have been written off beat England in a qualifier first team to do that in 10 years so can't beat that bad I didn't realise that they've qualified for every Euros since 1996, which is every one since the breakup of Czechoslovakia. They probably should have won it in 2004, a great team they had that.

As we've seen at every previous tournament Sweden have no answer if they go a goal behind and have to open up a bit. Don't blame them as they don't have the players to be expansive...Seb Larsson isn't even Championship standard these days

Don't like this new format at all - everyone goes on about group F being the group of death, yes it would have been under the old format, but under the new one all three teams will more than likely progress.

The group stage in the 2026 World Cup will be an utter farce with 16 groups of 3 teams, and the top two going through in each. For the final game in each group, both sides will know exactly what they need to progress. We'll see West Germany-Austria style collusion and teams progressing with one point. I am sure that format will be scrapped after one year.

That looks like a big crowd in Budapest Vs Portugal! 66,000 sellout, no mask mandate etc - the Hungarian PM Viktor Orban is a far right “Muzzles! Hoax!” crackpot, as well as being a racist and anti-Semite. Hungary’s players will definitely feel the benefit of a sellout crowd backing them, but Portugal are the defending champions - surely they’ve enough to win?

Spain last night were only missing a finisher - starting Morata over Moreno was a surprise and we can see why.

Floodgates opened once the first one went in. Fair play to Ronaldo, breaking the scoring record.

All they seem to do is try and con the ref, give it to Ronaldo and hope to fluke a goal somewhere, and usually it works. They must be a good side but Jesus, they're hard to watch and even harder to like.

Didn't see this game but checked score at about the hour mark and it was 0-0 Hungary must have just capitlated in the last 1/2hour or did Portugal turn on the style

Was 0-0 until the 84th actually. Hungary went deeper and deeper and once the first goal went in it was all over.
Portugal’s squad is one of the best in the tournament.

Tough on the Hungarians then did they deserve anything or was it just a matter of time?

I thought Portugal's first was against the run of play if anything. Hungary had a goal (correctly) ruled out just before it.

I only saw the second half, but Portugal showed very little in that, until they got a goal through multiple deflections. That deflated Hungary, who had been very dogged and willing, but limited. Portugal were just very flat, on their second half showing. 3-0 sounded like a drubbing, which it certainly wasn't.

I thought Germany were poor last night they seemed slow and devoid of ideas whereas France showed some flashes of brilliance at times whilst being prepared to sit back and take whatever Germany could throw at them (which wan't a lot) that said they should have scored in the second half. Pogba and Mbappe were outstanding for me

Pogba and Mbappe were outstanding for me Kante ran the show in midfield, the little terrier he is. Germany are a shadow of their former selves, look a really average side & players like Hummels, Kroos & Muller are past it for me, be very surprised if they get out of their group, I'd fancy Hungary to get a result against them. France did what they had to do if they needed to take it up another couple of levels I'm sure they could, they have the best squad in the tournament & will take some stopping. Also a very bizarre formation from Germany!?

Having seen everyone now, I think Belgium looked the best. Perhaps Italy were more exciting, but they took a while to score against a poor Turkish side and I'm not sure they can keep up that level of intensity. Belgium won easily and looked like they had more in the tank.

Good to see Wales more or less through, despite Robbie Savage. Bloke's a moron! I hope the rest of their games are on ITV.

Noticed last night that Bale's pace has gone ...couple of times he tried to take on Soyuncu and failed. His future is probably in a deeper position on the left or centre midfield as he still has a superb range of passing.

BBC much better pundits. Savage is a tit but he only does the welsh games & when he is commentating he is a fan. Mute it if you don't like him maybe.

Best national anthem at the Euros?
Tough call between Italy and Wales for me. Hair on the back of your neck stiff from both.
Worst is easy - England’s. Why would we invoke a non-specific deity to bail out these unelected spongers? If ours was Jerusalem it’d be right up there with the two I’ve mentioned.

It's a load of drivel, and a meaningless message in 21st Century Britain. Even musically it's a dirge. Get it in the bin and write a proper song.
