But we only had a crowd of 1,400-odd for a replay at the same stage against Gainsborough (a club at the same level at the time) back in 2012/13 when we were flying on the pitch and we hadn’t been in the FA Cup since reforming. The simple fact is that people are used to both Chester and Darlo entering the competition three rounds later and early qualifying round games are low down their list of priorities. I doubt first round games for the likes of Sheffield Wednesday and Sunderland hold much appeal for their fans either. I’ll be there tomorrow night anyway. Sounds daft but I think the whole cashless turnstiles thing has put a few off Don’t think the club made it clear when it first all came out That’s such a stupid rationale and I’ll keep calling this out. Every person has a bank card with contactless - they come to the turnstile and tap it. Or if you don’t want to, put your 4 digit pin in. How is this putting fans off? Please explain?

To be fair to Weareblues there was a delay in confirming cashless for the turnstiles, whether it has put fans off is up for debate and we may never know the answer. I personally would prefer the cash option to still be at the turnstiles but I appreciate the potential benefits of the cashless system even if it can take longer to enter the stadium. And before anyone says I know you can still pay via cash to purchase a ticket at the front desk, queueing twice is not something i would do.

To be fair one thing that struck me at Darlington on Saturday was that there were 4 turnstiles all together to get in. One was for advanced tickets only, one for advanced and contactless, one for cash & contactless and one for cash only. The two cash turnstiles had the biggest queues, lots of people were just clutching notes in their hands ready to hand over.
I don’t think it’s as simple as some believe in just flash your card contactless. It might suit many but some people don’t like every piddly little purchase they make going on their card. I know I don’t. Does seem silly to me that you can’t walk up to a turnstile at this level and hand cash over at the turnstile if you want to. Don’t buy the covid excuse either, there’s actually an extra physical contact with the way we are doing it now.

Just looked at prices for the game as I'm doing naff all else tomorrow night and I work in Chester. £17! That's half your problem with attendances.

Taking card payments at the ground is a great option but when they've taken cash for years, why can they not do both? I don't like paying for everything on my card either. I find it difficult to keep track of my spending that way, especially since purchases can sometimes take a few days to show up on your account and you have to try and work out which payment hasn't come out yet. It's about time banks had their arses kicked over that, but that's a different matter.

One of the few advantages of going to watch Chester at home over the years has been convience and the ability to park right outside the ground. Unfortunately the first game of the season (and for many their first live football in over 12 months)saw most of the car park out of use and people having to park their car where ever they could, often on double yellow lines. I realise that funds need to be raised to repair the car park and leasing a large part of it out is a way of raising the money, the downside is this will inevitably put occasional fans off from returning. Any way here’s hoping for a good crowd tonight - but not so many I can’t park my car.

I think anything over 1,000 tonight would be a success really. Just can’t see the appetite outside of the hardcore for a FA cup qualifier replay.
Either way we need a result both for future crowds and the bank balance !

Just can't see it being as high as 1,200. Not with a home game also on Saturday. 1,000 would be a good turn out.

Important we don’t take home advantage for granted tonight, as I can recall us recording a decent 0-0 draw at Southport in the FA Trophy a few years ago before failing to turn up at the replay the following Tuesday. However, as long as we remain solid at the back and learn how to take our chances (which let us down on Saturday), then we should progress. With us having a group of really winnable fixtures in the league and the possibility of Marske United away in the next round of the FA Cup, we have a fantastic opportunity to make a mark, so let’s hope we will put our foot down tonight to create some momentum ahead of Saturday’s home game against Blyth Spartans. Our last match was on Saturday where we drew 0-0 away against Darlington in the Emirates FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round in what was a very even but also boring spectacle. The first half was slightly shaded by the home side given Darlo came out of the blocks quicker than us, but aside from that the rest of the half was very quiet. Will Hatfield did manage to find the net for Darlington early on, but luckily for us his strike from the far side was ruled out for offside. We did have a few chances of ourselves throughout the half, but we were unable to take them therefore we went into the interval on level terms. Meanwhile, the second period was edged by us considering it was us who had the better share of chances. Again though, our finishing in front of goal was poor hence we will have to do it all over again in the replay tonight. Darlington will be making the trip from County Durham having had an inconsistent start here in the Vanarama National League North. So far in the league Darlo have won only one of their opening five games, hence they are sat just one place below us so we should view tonight’s tie as a winnable one. Obviously last campaign was curtailed early on due to Covid-19, and even though The Quakers were placed just two positions above the relegation zone they had fulfilled far less fixtures than the rest of our league due to their own Covid issues, therefore Darlington will be looking to make a proper name for themselves this season. Really looking forward to tonight as we did all of the hard work on Saturday in my opinion, so let’s hope we will finish the job in a few hours. We have a great chance to build some momentum now so it’s vital we don’t blow this opportunity, because I was much more encouraged by our showing on Saturday so hopefully we will build on that. Think we’ll put in a good performance tonight. I’ll go a solid 2-0 in front of an unsurprisingly low gate of 578.

Clark and Morgan is a strange one they have to improve on what they have shown so far, we do seem to be missing a few players for this one.

Just over a 1,000 in….
I’d say that’s not too bad at all but with what’s just been served up they should refund us 😂

Terrible first half. Just lucky that Darlo are just as useless as us. Very concerning look about the squad there is definitely something not right here and player to player there’s literally no confidence.

It’s not the best of games this if we are being honest. Seems like something is lacking between the players. Hope all is well behind the scenes.
