I was about to say fair play to you for offering your services but instead you’ve decided to act like a div People have every right to complain after tonight especially when they’ve also just waited along time queuing up at ticket office to find 1 turnstile open and miss first 10 mins of the game Can I ask why they would have to queue at the ticket office? You're free to and I'm sure will complain as much as you wan't, I'll afford myself the same right to complain about your relentless negativity and attitude towards hardworking volunteers. I ask again will you ever offer assistance to the club or do you just like to complain. Season ticket holder contribute to build a budget and signed up to the beloved CFU

Defo George Waring had a shocker, his chesting down went 20 yards to their player, his trapping goes as far as I can kick it, he spanned the ball for our goal (luckily) he is slow as a boat and tries to wrestle defenders and loses every time. Have we tried him as a defender. A striker on loan is needed. The rest of the lads tried hard and Williams, Hardy and Grey were standouts. 2 poor teams with little up front but our midfield showed glimpses of class. Noticed this before. His first instinct is to grab the shirt of the defender who's marking him thereby guaranteeing his is going to be closely marked. You'd think he'd be trying to lose his marker !

Couldn't make it yesterday but not surprised it was a poor game as Saturday's game up there was pretty dreadful.
We started the season as a mess of a side, and I suppose to go from that into an efficient team, you have to go through a bit of a dour spell of cutting out mistakes and finding your shape. Perhaps that's what we're going through at the moment, but I'll take scrappy away draws and home wins all day long, especially in the cup.
Everyone groaned when that tie came out the bag but we got through it, well done Seals!

Thought that final half hour was much closer to the vintage Bern and Jonno performances we’ve seen pre-covid. We needed two wingers to hit some form if we wanted to get the goals flowing and hopefully this is the start of it. Hardy MOTM for me. You can see Johnston is trying to change his game - very direct with it and trying to cut inside rather than get lost towards the corner flag.. Yep, Johnston has taken his fair share of criticism on here but I thought when he came on last night he offered a reminder of why Alty fans were not happy about him leaving. At one point he put over an excellent ball that, if we’d had some cutting edge, would probably have been tucked home rather than going to waste.

He needz to become more direct. Just get to the byline and cut it back into the box. Stop trying to beat the same man 3 times and running into blind alleys. Also, we lack firepower Dudley is struggling after COVID and he is your main source of goals. Hardy might get 8-10 which could be crucial. Waring comes in for stick, but he rarely gets a decent ball to his feet or head. Most of the time it is pumped aimlessly towards him and he has to try to make something of it We have looked more solid and had a better shape with him and Dudley, in a 4-4-2.

Thanks for the hospitality last night guys, had a chat with a few Chester fans in the bar before the game who all seemed like decent folk.
Thought the game was evenly balanced and we said whoever scored 1st will win it. Thought that we both cancelled each other out so we are either both equally good or equally poor haha! All the best for the rest of the FA Cup and I’ll see you in November for the league game down your place.

Sounds daft but I think the whole cashless turnstiles thing has put a few off Don’t think the club made it clear when it first all came out That’s such a stupid rationale and I’ll keep calling this out. Every person has a bank card with contactless - they come to the turnstile and tap it. Or if you don’t want to, put your 4 digit pin in. How is this putting fans off? Please explain? Not everyone has a bank card and not everyone with a bank card choses to use it. Last night 98 of the tickets sold by the Ticket Office were paid with cash. A big part of the problem of queues is that many people arrive at the last minute. The busiest time at the Ticket Office is the 15-20 minutes before and just after kick-off time. Arrive a few minutes earlier and much of the queueing will disappear.

All about the result tonight, yes the first half was abysmal and we probably didn't deserve to win it in the 90 minutes. Darlington weren't particularly any better though, two teams lacking confidence. Game opened up for the last 30 minutes and it could have gone either way. Dudley and Waring both worked hard but no pace and little support runner wise from midfield. Johnston and Hardy both made a difference out wide when the game became stretched. Positives tonight were the two fullbacks, both excellent and the goalkeeper had a decent game and Williams looked composed on the ball in tight situations. Nobody had a shocker and everyone was committed to the cause. Hopefully the fitness levels and confidence will improve and we go again Saturday ⚽️👍 Defo George Waring had a shocker, his chesting down went 20 yards to their player, his trapping goes as far as I can kick it, he spanned the ball for our goal (luckily) he is slow as a boat and tries to wrestle defenders and loses every time. Have we tried him as a defender. A striker on loan is needed. The rest of the lads tried hard and Williams, Hardy and Grey were standouts. 2 poor teams with little up front but our midfield showed glimpses of class. I reckon Livesey up front instead of Waring for a whole match is worth a try - I bet Livesey will get to many more headers than Waring ever does and won’t be any worse at holding up the ball/laying it off. Also got a bit fed up with our efforts to walk in goals. Don’t know if it’s under instructions or lack of confidence but when you have the likes of Weeks and Morgan easily able to hammer them in from the edge of the box, I never understand why we don’t have more efforts from that distance. Also the standard of goalies at this level means that there’s a good chance of a follow up chance when they spill it.

Well...you can tell we won by the relatively short thread!
I thought both teams were very poor. Clearly Duds still isn't right and Waring's game was summed up by his assist! Credit to the defence though, who did really well. I was calling for Grand to hang up his boots a few weeks ago, but he looks stronger, fitter and was excellent last night. My MoM was Louis Gray, who made 2 or 3 top saves. We finished off really strong, which was great to see. I hardly noticed Glendon for 70 mins, but he was great in the last 20. James Hardy did well, but I'm not a massive fan of him over complicating the basics, especially in his own half. I would say an OK performance, but still missing the vitality and spark of a typical Bern & Jonno team.
We definitely need a new striker - someone with pace who can finish!

We've had two match threads so merged them both.
Back to the game though, I thought it could have gone either way, both Goalkeepers were excellent but for one chance which fell for us. The 2nd half was an improvement but we look half a yard off it. Some players don't look anywhere near fit. Grand was excellent and Johnston caused problems when he came on. The amount of times Darlo got into wide positions was concerning and it's one of the reasons we're leaking so many goals, against better opposition this is going to keep causing us problems.
Usually not this negative after a win but it's clear that somethings not right with the squad this season.

You trying to win a good citizen award or something Why do you have to be so demeaning every time? If you read Banksy's posts on here, you'd have seen that we are short of volunteers and volunteers are being driven away by tasteless remarks like these. As has been sais before, if you dislike or disagree with something, count to ten before you write about it and if you can't say it without being sarcastic/rude/offensive, go somewhere else to write it. Otherwise you'll drive away so many volunteers that you'll kill the club you profess to support.

Anyone know if Josh Askew has stopped running yet? The engine on this lad is pretty impressive and he has tempered the loss of Joel Taylor. Look so much more solid with two recognised full backs. Also thought Clark did well at protecting the back four until he went to right back.
Definitely need a new striker though and hopefully a cup run will pay for this.

Great assist from Waring no seriously a good victory although I couldn't make it sadly askew looks a player might be contraversial but looks like he's going to be as good as Taylor looked a hint of handball in a highlights thing

Just wondering if last night was the sort of game we could have used the streaming option for? Presumably Darlo would have to agree, but they are a well supported team and I'm sure plenty would have purchased a game pass to watch it from their end. I get that we always want to encourage fans to the ground, but lets be honest it's an early FA cup replay arranged at very short notice so might have been better to try and maximise profits by streaming it presuming it's except from the usual 3pm league game restrictions. I couldn't make it last night as I had my daughter who is too young to go on a Tuesday night, but I'd have happily paid for the stream, and also opens up the option for exiles too. Perhaps might be something to consider for the less attractive cup replays in future.
As for the game, I've seen the highlights and seems like both teams created some good chances. A bit worrying that the trend of teams finding space in our half looked to have continued, perhaps the defence need to be playing a couple of yards higher and squeeze the game a bit. As many have said, we needed to focus on stopping the leak and dog out a couple of results in order to get confidence up and for some lads to play themselves into better fitness following covid, and of course the main thing is we are in the hat. Big game on Saturday, where it would be nice to make a bit of a statement and put on a more convincing performance.

Doubt we’d have the rights to stream live FA Cup ties given the rights are with BBC and ITV.

First time I've seen us this season. Defence looked solid enough, impressed by Williams; reminds me of Sam Hughes. Midfield moved it well out of defence. Upfront is the clear and obvious issue. Cumbersome George and Dudley didn't have a shot between them did they? Johnstone looked okay when he came on, less speed boat and no driver than he has looked previously.

I think the hope was that goals would come from all over the pitch. But if we have any real aspirations to do well this season we desperately need a striker. Dudley should get more but he's not consistent.

It was all about the result last night and we got it, deservedly so I thought. Okay, we didn't do it stylishly, but we did do it with grit and passion, so I for one don't care! We're in the next round, extra money in the bank and hopefully a confidence booster for Saturday. It was a better team performance than many so far this season, we had better shape and the lads did their jobs - Gray made important saves, the centre halves were solid, Askew and Morgan got up and down the pitch, the midfield won more 2nd balls and contrary to what others are saying on here, Waring did win most of his headers, did hold the ball up and did give us a presence up top. None of them had perfect displays, they all made errors, they could all have all done some things better, but they looked more like a team, they all worked their socks off and I for one ain't gonna grumble at that. A good night, good result and what about that sunset, eh? Even those stood outside at kick off must have seen that!

Heard a lot of Gray’s involvement on the commentary last night - sounded like he made a string of important saves and others had said he was kept busy so it was no surprise to hear he was named MOTM. Well, no surprise to most - the announcement seemed to surprise our Chairman on the commentary who said Gray has had nothing to do all night(!).

Keeper made 4 or 5 saves, nothing of a worldly nature and all bar one from out the box but he dealt with them well to be fair.

Suppose it wouldn’t be the first time your degenerates came in our away end against Darlington Weirdos It's not too strange to go and watch a live game in the city I work in 🙃 Shows how much of a dead place Wrexham is that you cant drive 20 minutes down the road and find something to do on a Tuesday night, you'd rather watch your rivals play. What a sad man
