Just seen a great suggestion on a social media site to convince McCarthy it is not just a majority or keyboard warriors that want him gone , it suggests that red cards are handed out at the turnstiles on Saturday and be held aloft when the teams enter the field of play so that a true picture of the feeling of the true fans,it may back up his statement but my feeling is it won't.

The more crap I read from Mr Macarthy , the more I think he lives in cuckoo land . The latest interview tops it all! He has to go and the supporters need to show him verbally and by any other means possible what they think of his crazy crazy logic. Any manager in any league would have been sacked by now with his record since the 17th of December 2016. He had an unbeaten run of 8 games before December, when Sharpes was just about running the team, but this nutter is still spouting on about it. What do the happy clappers want, another season of no ambition, weird people !! Just put him on " gardening leave " and look for a new manager and assistant ! www.chesterchronicle.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/chester-fc-boss-jon-mccarthy-12934595

As I have said elsewhere I am 50/50 about whether a change of manager will bring benefit. People waving red cards around will only divide the fan base and create a hostile environment which in turn may adversely affect some people's decisions to attend in the future. We should be better than that. What will you do if Jon McCarthy goes and his replacement turns out to be even less successful, a real possibility whoever comes in given our limited resources. Will you blame those who held up red cards!! You would do better spending your money in the club shop or blues bar, at least that would be supportive of the club. We have a democratically elected board (largely), it is for them to make decisions on hiring and firing, if you want to influence them then you can always email them. If you disagree with the way the board is acting, join the CFU if you are not already a member, and at the very least you will have a vote going forward and an opportunity to air your views at meetings. Like you I am extremely frustrated about results and some performances since Christmas, but would prefer to see a strong committed no.2 to help McCarthy, someone who means we don't need to see youth team coaches and the rest of the entourage getting involved on the touchline during first team fixtures. McCarthy and Sharps as a team seemed to manage just fine. Need to replicate that and we will, in my opinion, be much better.

I don't think it's a good idea either. I can't really see a future for McCarthy here - certainly not as manager - but I wouldn't be comfortable taking part in some sort of protest against him. Don't think he deserves that.

How can a replacement for JM be less successful? we are bottom of the form table and have been for months. "Democratically elected board"? Many Co opted directors not elected "Their decisions on hiring/firing" Improved Burrs contract then sacked him, Increased JM contract after a few games now unable to sack him due to monetary constraints. Sanctioned CI appointment what a disaster that's turned out to be. The board does not have the experience to make these decisions. "Limited resources" so why do the board/JM give contracts to several players who are then deemed not good enough to get on the bench but still get paid a weekly wage? Cannot believe that after the fiasco that you or anybody else is 50/50 on whether a change of manager will bring any benefit

The new manager can be less successful by actually getting us relegated.
On a smaller budget already this year and paying out for a 2 year contract i genuinely cannot see how on any financial basis a new manager would do a better job. It is what is it, it's not right perhaps based on the 2017 form but it's the harsh reality people cannot accept.
I certainly don't buy this argument that lower crowds will be the same as paying off McCarthy and with the players having something to play for again (other than 'finish as high as you can') crowds are likely to stabilise unless theres another drop in form.
Nothing in football is certain and a fresh season may see JM proving doubters wrong. He may not, but achieving the board set goal and the financial/contract situation means he gets another go.

I think McCarthy knows the majority are against him but he's digging his heels in for his own interests (ie pay off).
As said earlier a Settlement Agreement should be agreed between him and the club. He doesn't have that sacking on his CV and the club aren't hit as heavily in terms of finances. Payment can also be agreed which helps the club.
Didn't he say a few weeks back that on the basis of recent form he'd have been sacked? I think he knows deep down that the vocal minority is the majority but has been said to give himself protection.

Gomango, I quite understand your views. It would be easy for me to say that 51 points and relegation over a season would be less successful, but we agree that since Christmas results not good enough. I agree also that the board probably does not currently have the experience to always make the right decisions, although which board ever gets things right all the time. The constant turnover of personnel on the board, whilst bringing in fresh ideas and energy is at the expense of losing experienced members some of who you suspect have been driven out of the club by either infighting or by the constant sniping. Difficult one this, the only way to gain experience of being a director of a football club is by doing the job. Not for me!! Although experience does not always bring about success, ask Southport FC , where Charlie Clapham had been in charge for 30 odd years , employed 4 or 5 managers this season and still got relegated. We only have a relatively limited pool of people from where board members can be elected if keen to put themselves forward. Is there someone who could be an effective unpaid Director of Football within that pool? We do not have the financial resources to employ one. We agree that the appointment of CI was wrong. Not sure that there have been several signings who have been deemed not good enough but still get paid, Will Marsh, others? We seem to be in agreement about many of the issues but perhaps have different views on what should happen now, but hey that's what sharing opinion is all about and in the end we all want the same thing, a progressive club, successful within the limits of what we are.

Can I just point out that there are plenty of sensible, balanced posts from guests of late - it does seem to be the registered users throwing the most bile to anyone who opposes their views.
Just a thought.

What is the point of waving a red card? It will divide the fan base and put even more pressure on JM. It's a no.

I've been abused for saying this before, but you still have to question the motives of him and Maguire. Would it be better to be a larger fish in a smaller pool, like Stockport? Where was Maguire before us? What happened at those places?

Let's be honest,if Red card's were handed out at turnstile's i doubt most fan's would even know what they were for apart from the few that read DC. I know plenty of fan's that cant stand DC old or new so Red card's will go right over their head's. I'd say you'll get the regular handful pessimist's and cynic's(win or lose) from here waving em and that'll be it...and what if only a 100 do wave them?Macca will take that as a sign that the majority support him.. playing right into Macca's hand's:)

Terrible idea.
Whatever you may think about him, he's a genuinely nice bloke who doesn't deserve to be baited and hounded by his own fans.
Like it or lump it, it's highly likely he'll be here next season, so quite what it will achieve is anyone's guess.

My suggestion is that people back to the players and Macca for 90 minutes. On the final whistle, if you don't like what you see, then feel free to boo. I'm sure he's got broad enough shoulders for that. What constantly gets on my nerves is that everyone can see that the players are bereft of confidence - yet the first misplaced pass you can guarantee you'll get the same moaners yelling out how rubbish so-and-so player is. Players definitely latch on to negativity like this. In the Family Stand (believe it or not!) there are several who yell ridiculous abuse at players in earshot of young kids. I've seen Kane Richards and Evan Horwood reacting to catcalls from the stand - so it definitely does affect confidence. Imagine therefore handing out red cards to people - what sort of toxic atmosphere would that create?!

Does Blue 4 life refer to your general outlook on life?Just asking Whilst most fan's are far from happy about how the season has panned out i think it really is just a vocal minority on here that want him out and DC i a tiny percentage of the say 1,700/2,000 fan's that go each week.

You still me point though - it is a minority of divvy chatter's and not the majority of attending fan's.
By all mean's hold up yer red card's on Saturday but it'll be about 20 of the biggest moaner's on DC and NOT a majority of the crowd. The majority will probably be mighty peeved at how this season has gone(me included) but they want be screaming for everyone including the tea lady to get the boot like the drama queen's on here.
