Squad now looking very useful Wyll Stanway - GK Harry Tyrer - GK Joe Smith - GK Liam Edwards - CB Matty Williams - CB Harrison Burke - CB/DCM Ollie Heywood - LB Kevin Roberts - RB/CB/DCM Jamie Morgan - RB/LB Lewis Earl - DCM/CM/CB Declan Weeks - CM George Glendon - CM Sam Turner Alex Kenyon Joe Lynch - CM Iwan Murray - AMC Darren Stephenson - LW/CF Adam Thomas - RW Kole Hall - CF Anthony Dudley - CF Lloyd Marsh-Hughes - CF Zach Clarke - CF Have I missed anyone out? Looking at that feel we need another striker, doesn’t have to be a world beater but a solid physical centre forward would be good. Also feel another left back would be good, it seems we’re going to sign Matty Waters when he’s back fit which is a positive as personally think he’s a very talented player. But until that happens perhaps a short term loan from an EFL club to boost our options. Other than that the squad is shaping up nicely, looking forward to seeing Alex Kenton judging by the response of Morecambe supporters. agreed but I think another centre half too that is vital

I would suggest the squad is setup for a 4-3-3 / 5-3-2 to ensure 3 across midfield to get best out of Glendon, weeks and Lynch. Also, Iwan is to be played as a winger dont forget, as per Cal interview.
Wyll Stanway - GK Harry Tyrer - GK Joe Smith - GK
Liam Edwards - CB Matty Williams - CB Harrison Burke - CB/DCM
Kevin Roberts - RB/CB/DCM
Ollie Heywood - LB Jamie Morgan - RB/LB
Lewis Earl - DCM/CB Alex Kenyon - DCM/LB
Declan Weeks - CM George Glendon - CM Joe Lynch - CM Sam Turner - CM
Iwan Murray - RW Darren Stephenson - LW/RW Adam Thomas - RW
Zach Clarke - RW/LW/CF
Kole Hall - CF Kurt Willoughby - CF Anthony Dudley - CF Lloyd Marsh-Hughes - CF (6 months)
That layout suggests LB and perhaps winger to be targeted. prime Loanee positions IMO.
Also I don't see a future for LMH

It is, sadly. Unless the plan is to loan him out for 3 months and see how Hall goes, as he is clearly a gamble.

Might be a problem trying to keep everyone happy.

I agree about the squad we have plenty of cover in eve every position, I think we should see how. the squad goes in the friendly’s before bringing anyone else in. Even at left back we have two lads who need a few games to see if we are strong enough in that position, the loan market served us well last season if we do need to find someone.

Glendon injury obviously was unfortunate as he's now missing out on some crucial pre season fitness and preparation. Don't think there was any mention from Callum about injured players in the recent blog, but I do think it's something fans would appreciate and update on from time to time. That kind of information has been sorely lacking since Dave Powell left the Chron. I accept during the season sometimes Callum might want to keep his cards close to his chest to keep opposition managers guessing, but in pre season I don't think there's any harm in keeping fans up to date with injuries.

Agree on this. Glendon goes off with a knee (?) injury and we still don't know if he's out for a week or so, or the season.

The dude who came from Bolton, I'm getting confused now Edwards. He played 2nd half at Whitchurch. Think he was doing some running before the Rochdale game. We haven't seen Thomas yet. He may also have been doing some pitch work before the Rochdale game.

Another cryptic tweet from the club announcing an incoming arrival this evening.
Imagine it’ll be Horsefield as midfield cover, he’s already played most of the PSFs and has been named as himself in team sheets, rather than “Trialist”. Obviously we know he can play full back too.

19-year old left back Lewis Coulton on loan from Preston North End until January.

Right move for Joe Smith as he has only just graduated from our academy, and with two goalkeepers being ahead of him in our pecking order he needs to be playing each week to bolster his experience. Jiff actually went to the same school as me (Upton High) as he was in the year below, while he regularly followed us from the terraces as a supporter before being involved with our first team, so he’s definitely a blue through and through like Calum McIntyre. With Joe only being 18 there’s plenty of time for him to develop, so hopefully Ashton Athletic will play him every week in the North West Counties Football League Premier Division.
Good luck Joe!

Can’t really see Sam Turner getting much of a chance in our first team this season, so again it’s right for him to be loaned out in order for him to get more of a taste of senior football. Last season he scored five goals in 25 games when he was out on loan at Lower Breck in Step 5, before making the step up to Step 4 at the beginning of this year for Widnes, with Turner most notably scoring a screamer against Clitheroe. As Runcorn Linnets are expected to be competing near the top of the Pitching In Northern Premier League Division One West again this campaign, hopefully it will be another good experience for Sam.
Good luck Sam!

Makes sense for Smith to go out on loan to get some real experience, at the right level too bottom half of North West Counties. A full season under his belt cutting his teeth in mens football is ideal for his age.
Same situation for winger Turner too, at the higher level with Runcorn, and for only half the season to see how he fares as he’s been involved in pre-season so is obviously knocking at our first team door.
It’s the Clarke to Runcorn that I’m unsure about. I was looking forward to seeing him to challenging for the central target man role this season, looked a much more mobile version of Waring from his few appearances last season, but I think this could be a way of giving LMH his chance.
Honestly think the LMH signing was Cal looking after one of his own and giving him one last chance under his management where he has a better chance of getting the best out of him than previous managers did.
LMH only on a six-month contract so clearly he’s been given the nod to finally prove himself in our first team - Clarke has the security of a one-year deal and with being out on loan until LMH’s contract is up means he could slot straight in if that doesn’t work out. Hopefully LMH can step up and Clarke can bang them in at Runcorn and it works out well for all.

Admittedly a little surprised about Zack Clarke going out on loan, as I had a feeling that he would be given more chances to shine in our first team this season. I don’t see him as a starter with some of the other names we have in our attacking options, but from the occasional cameos I have saw of him both this season and last, he has impressed me. The last time we loaned Zack out was to Atherton Collieries in the league below us towards the end of last campaign, so it is interesting we have now loaned him out to a Step 4 team, but hopefully he will bang in the goals for Runcorn Linnets in the Pitching In Northern Premier League Division One West in the meantime.
Good luck Zack!

Called it with Turner being 1 of the loans but I'm surprised with Clarke. Calum clearly favours LMH ahead of Clarke which is surprising but then again I guess he's trying to get the most out of LMH with him only being on a 6 month contract. Shame though I'd like to have seen Clarke given a go here this season.

Mind you, it's noticable that Clarke is now on loan at a club a league lower than he was at last season.
Clarke & Turner were the obvious two going out, they were out out of the side last week but weren't hanging around the other players injuried, they were standing behind the dugouts throughout. They were clearly fit and fine to play.

You may well be right, not sure what Clarke gains from playing at that level though myself.
