Academy graduate Matthew Thomson scores the winner for Bamber Bridge last night against Morpeth Town. Bamber are currently 2nd in the league and looking good for the play offs. Might see him back at Deva next season.

Mike Stowell in charge at Leicester. A lot further back, obviously.

Paul Cardens Nantwich, near the bottom had a great win at Marine, near the play offs,3.0. Marine have had a new 4 g pitch laid this season which cost £500,000 funded by their fa cup run when they finally got knocked out by spurs.

Sorry to read that former Chester manager John Sainty has died. Not a manager that tended to get recalled much after his time at the club, but his spell in charge in the early 1980s included memorable League Cup games against Bolton and Leeds and also the 4-2 win at Tranmere when Martin Lane was played up front.
The obituary Chas Sumner has written makes it clear John was working in difficult circumstances, with very limited resources available to him.

I watched Bamber Bridge beat Gainsborough Trinity last night in the play off semis. Ex Chester player Matt Thomson put in a MOM performance in their victory . Always said we should never have let him go !!

Always said we should never have let him go !! Don’t depress us with team names such as Bamber, Gainsborough, Warrington…. If we had to face them next year I’d just off the Grovesnor Bridge with breeze blocks strapped to me. Not happening though - it’s going to be aways of Rochdale, Southend, Chesterfield, Notts, Halifax, Oldham, York.

It dawned on me last night I haven't properly considered that we will likely have to beat one of Fylde and Kings Lynn - I've just kind of forced myself to think we're definitely going up as I can't face the alternative As a London-based exile as well, being in the National league would be amazing.

Can’t believe Alabi is still going. Awful. Released by the side who finished bottom of the NL by a distance suggests he's not "going" very well. I thought he had something but Tranmere was a bad move for him.

Ryan Lloyd released by Hereford, James Alabi released by Maidstone. Would take Lloyd back, thought he was good when we had him. Alabi not so much

I don't think Lloyd would be an improvement on any of our current players, he's just been let go from the side who finished 16th. Glendon will be back next season as well. Whitehouse permanently whatever league we are in would be my priority.

You have to remember that Lloyd and Alabi were here 6 years ago, they're 28/29 now. They had potential 6 years ago, probably squad players at NLN level at best now, Alabi probably needs to drop further to start scoring goals again, very poor record apart from his time here

I thought he had something but Tranmere was a bad move for him. The only man who got a tune out of him was Jon McCarthy of all people. Thought he had a lot of attributes to go higher but for whatever reason it just hasn't happened for him. As you say, Tranmere was a terrible move and he's had a nomadic career since then. Shame really, as he was dgood with the community side of things here and had a respectable scoring record - he'll look back at his career and his time was us was his only decent period, which is a waste.

Alabi was quality for us. Said this before but he isn't great in the air for a big man. No point lumping the ball forward. His strength was playing on the shoulder of the last man. I remember the game at Braintree in the NL where he absolutely destroyed them. Don't know the guy but always thought he lacked a nasty side. I've followed his career and at Orient (where he went after Tranmere) and Maidstone he was mainly on the bench.

It's like they saw a lad who was over six foot and quite muscular and thought he must be a target man. Really, his strengths were pace and finishing.

We should look to sign Whitehouse I think it would be worth getting Alabi back to he would be a great asset off the bench

Alabi’s presumably living in the London area (where he’s originally from), having played for a few clubs down south since leaving Tranmere. Doubt he’d want to relocate to come back here even if we tried to sign him.

We should look to sign Whitehouse I think it would be worth getting Alabi back to he would be a great asset off the bench Alabi's scoring record since leaving us is pretty woeful. I make it he scored more in one season with us than he has in six years since! Plus he's not from round here as has been said, so I doubt he'd want to relocate just to be an impact sub.

Brad Jackson exits Altrincham. He looked a pale shadow of the player he once was when he turned out for Buxton , recently.
