Matty Taylor released by Oxford United. Spent end of last season on loan at Port Vale so no doubt will get a permanent deal there.

Definitely would get Caton Would we? 😂 What makes you think that? Sure he’s got bigger ambitions that playing NLN football to perfectly honest. He’s been released from a League One club. National League player at least.

He's got potential but I'm not sure he'll be as sought after as others may think. He's got a lot of developing to do, and given that he made a decent impression here and has a supportive manager who knows his strengths and weaknesses then I'd say it would be a pretty smart decision to come here. Might get one or two clubs like Alty or Halifax sniffing around, but can't see him being anything more than a bench player for them.

He was one of the leagues best players from February onwards and I’m sure he’ll have league 2 offers or decent NL clubs in for him. He’ll also be on / want £7-800 a game which isn’t happening as we need to keep a wage to replace Kurt. You never know, his Dad might take him at Bala 😂😂

I think we have to be realistic about who we can sign. There's a big difference between signing a player on loan and offering them a contract with other clubs competing.
Whitehouse is a realistic target I feel. He's been released by an NL that went down so he probably has to be looking at the NLN now, and he seemed to enjoy his time here.
We shouldn't feel that any players are "irreplaceable" and that nobody we sign instead of them is going to be as good. I have complete faith in Calum to put a squad together that can challenge for promotion again next season. He has not made a single bad signing as Chester manager.

Problem is, although released by a relegated NL club, he would have been on L2 or NL wages. Be a fair drop if he came to us. Bear in mind our midfield will likely have Weeks and Glendon in it next season, along with a holding player. So the other options will likely need to be physically strong to help us cope with teams, especially away from home. Hopefully we could get him in.

I agree and would add that Calum's loan signings have been outstanding. Every one of them contributed to the cause, which hasn't been the case in previous years.

I think Whitehouse will want a full time NL team. Thousands of players available, some real quality. Trust the process.

'Radcliffe FC are pleased to confirm that Matt Sargent has agreed to join the club at the expiry of his contract, following his release from League Two’s Salford City.
21-year-old Sargent goes against the recent trend of new signings, as he links up with Bernard and Jonno for the very first time, despite playing for two of their former managerial clubs. The Welshman also counts Wrexham, Chester and Buxton amongst his former teams, having endured six loan spells across the North from his parent outfit Salford between 2020 and 2022.'

Nice to see Sam Hughes pick up Burton Albion's Player Of The Year Award with 42 appearances for them this season. Finally clicked for him after his struggles.

Interesting to see a couple of posters here didn't think we had a cat in hell's chance of signing Caton, just shows how good Cal is. I saw how Cal was with the players before the Kettering away game, and he's just such a great character, really positive, playful and enthusiastic. It's an infectious personality trait and I'm not surprised players want to work for him.

Another season - another injury. Akwasi Asante has undergone surgery to hopefully solve a persistent groin injury and is expected to be out of action for at least a month. Asante made 18 appearances for Chesterfield last season.
