Bern and Jonno's Radcliffe will give Macc a run for their money next season. I see they've just signed Jordan Hulme, whose a better striker than Peers and should walk them in at that level.

I think Radcliffe seem a good fit for Bern and Jonno. Spennymoor always seemed like a strange decision - they looked like they needed a proper break after us rather than taking a job at the arse end of nowhere, and with a more limited pool of players. They've made a few good signings already, and I'm sure the break will help them get their mojo back. Good luck to them.

Dudley must be nailed on if he is released.

I see a compilation of Kurt's goals from this season has been uploaded to YouTube this week, which could be inferred as someone trying to put him in the shop window. Enjoyable video anyway. The YouTube channel is Kurt's own, by the looks of it. Not sure where I am with that

I was a bit uncomfortable with Kurts comments to the NLP to be honest. I'd have thought waiting until he had left before speaking to the press would have been a bit more respectful.

Comes across as a bit of a helmet to be honest. Not happy the way he was acting in the pub after we’d just lost a play off Semi either.

Unless it is their boy hood club, players don't really care who they play for. Especially at this level. For him, we're a stepping stone.

To me it just smacked of a circular his agent (who seems a right knob) had sent off to loads of journos and put Kurt's name on. Not cool, but what can you do? Bollocks are League 1 clubs interested in him.

I think the issue with Kurt playing higher is that IMO he's nothing but a goal scorer. Sounds a bit of of a strange thing to say really as every team wants exactly that, but I think moving up levels he may find he needs to develop his all around game a bit more. It's not like he's blessed with burning pace or can trick his way past players, his hold up play is alright but could be better, and I'd say his link up play isn't the best either. His workrate is second to none and masks some of the deficiencies in his game. Reminds me a bit of Daryl Clare....all around game not amazing but had the natural instinct to be in the right place at the right time and an out and out finisher, and Clare only banged them in up to National League level as he probably just didn't have enough other aspects to his game to cope with the demands of league football. Exactly this. Kurt is a goalscorer but his holdup play isn't fantastic. If Hall were fit I would have played Hall more central and Kurt playing off him. The ball might have held better up front and we may have retained possession better in the final third. I would definitely be looking to bring in a Dackers type of player.

You're right that players don't have the same connection with the club as the fans, who have been through thin and thin but there's a way of doing things. No problem with him moving on..he was on a one year deal and had he been a disaster it would have worked the other way. But Willoughby needs to come out and say he's going, thank the fans etc etc before all this nonsense about league 1. He (or his agent most likely) needs to have a chat with Harry Tyrer.

Willoughby is long in the game now, he has probably done this countless times. For him this is probably a temp job.
If you listen to what players say about clubs and contracts, you'll have an idea how agents work and why players take some deals.
Tyrer is young, keen, and willing to impress. He's going back to Everton and then maybe out on loan again or number 2 spot.

The connection between the players and fans this season has been the best I can ever remember.
We have to be realistic though, players will see us as a stepping stone - even if they were Chester fans. This is how it should be too - it makes us an attractive proposition for would-be young signings, who know if they set the division on fire for us, they might get their chance too.

Nothing I've ever heard has convinced me football agents are anything but con-men and general arseholes.

Without an agent a club will rip a play off and pay him under his value.
I can imagine you'd be happy to sign for £400 a week when your team mates are on £800 plus goal bonus a week.
Peter Crouch negotiated his own contract, 1000 a week, he was happy with it, spoke to his fellow graduates at Portsmouth, they're all on 10k a week.
I bet there are many, many more out there like that. For a career that can last 15 years at best with your best years and there fore wage 25 - 32. I'd say yeah, they need agents to get the most out of their short careers. Especially when they can be cut short by injury at any time. In life you have to look after yourself, if a player feels like he needs an agent to do that so be it.
Some players will bin agents off if they're not working in their interest. If players didn't need agents. They wouldn't have them. Take a look through football history and you can see clubs rip players off. Being a socialist I thought you'd be well versed in this

Being a socialist I thought you'd be well versed in this I'm sure they play a role, but they way they go about it and the amount of money they take from it is crazy. The amounts you're talking about in the Peter Crouch example are obscene given these are youth players. Forgive me for thinking a teenager playing football can just about scrape by on a grand a week, and this must've been a good 25 years ago as well. Rising to your political dig, hiring a private agent to negotiate a better contract than your co-workers on your behalf is not really socialism at all. Really, clubs should have payment brackets and it should be for a union (i.e. the PFA) to oversee them and apply pressure where necessary.

No they shouldn't be on that much, but if it's there to be taken why not? Again only a short career in a huge pressued situation.
Have a look at Outcasts FC with Billy Meredith and Tim Coleman. My dig was at clubs ripping the piss out of players when they can financially afford to pay for stuff such injury compensation. If a club is making X amount, on the back of the players, why shouldn't players be entitled to a fairer share of that. Which is something you believe in for a company such as Amazon. Yet when it comes to an agent helping a player manage that, it is wrong.

Good, good player. Glad he's signed up as he is more than capable of playing a division higher.

Excellent first signing. Club Twitter says "let's start". So I wonder if there will be a few through the day? Sooner we know who we have, the better we can plan the additions.

Always nice to see the squad taking shape - even if it is early days into the close-season.
P.s. Why do clubs feel the need to announce an incoming announcement?
