I don't think it's any coincidence that Weeks is playing a lot better since Glendon went off. They're Gerrard and Lampard for me. Both great players at this level but they want to do the same thing. Take the last 10 minutes... Whitehouse and Weeks playing slightly deeper, Murray in an advanced role, Caton with a more dynamic partner up top (Maguire made a decent cameo providing a bit more energy)... we looked better

We are in the hat, that's the main thing and positive from that performance today. It shouldn't paper over the cracks though, we lack pace and natural width within that squad of players.

Tough watch that. Just about deserved it but that was a woeful first half and an alarming dip after the equaliser. Presented them with a golden chance at 1-1. Thought Caton stuck to the task and was my motm. Murray did well too. Scored a beauty, missed a sitter. Not sure about Glendon...plays so deep and doesn't really influence the game. Taylor and Coates, when he came on, wasted a lot of possession. Anyway job done, I'm off to lie down in a dark room. Bring on the draw.

Bloody BBC zooming in on the Tadcaster players mumbling amongst themselves while Cal does the fist pumps at the other end. Good coverage today I thought, generally speaking. Shame about there being just one camera, but the commentary was decent, and good to see the qualifying rounds getting the coverage.

The full backs provide the width in our favoured system which is a diamond 4-4-2. Wondering if 5-3-2 would be better to allow the full backs more space to bomb up and down. Problem with that is Weeks or Whitehouse make way for Matty Williams - would absolutely have Robbo and Murray in the midfield three so it’s one of Weeks, Whitehouse or Glendon.

Wasn’t pretty at all for the majority of that but fair enough we dug in at the end and we’re in the hat

Class shone through in the end against a determined but limited Taddy side. We scored from a corner they couldn't clear, a corner and a long ball they couldn't defend properly. You could argue that our passing play created those chances. Maybe had we played more direct we'd have won easier.
Anyway, job done. Hopefully we can add the missing bits to our squad and kick on.

Well as expected we came into the game second half as a difference in fitness became a factor.
Cal, in fairness, made some good changes.
Few too many stray passes today etc, won’t get away with any of that nonsense in the league.
Seems like we still haven’t found a reliable shape in attack, which will surely be worrying Cal, it’s a game that raises a few questions.
All that said, it’s a results business and they came through with the right result in the end.

Quality showed in the end but that Glendon pass could have gone so different. We need to start testing the keeper more though, why are we so scared in doing it

Credit where it is due - we're in the hat and the players turned it around.
The first 10 minutes of the second half was the best we played over the 90. When we turn up the tempo, teams find it very hard to live with us and we could have put it out of sight there and then. As it was, we still went on to present them with a gift of a chance to retake the lead and were lucky he hit it straight at Stanway.
The first half was a concern - it was so flat and pedestrian. Our diamond formation's biggest draw back is the lack of opportunities we seem to create with our striker running through at goal or 'clear cut' chances. We always seem to have to thread the needle and play through tight spaces and when we're not bang at it, we become a sideways side very quickly.
It didn't help that Joel Taylor had a poor game, he was our main attacking outlet but struggled to deliver any quality. He'll get better and we should as a team. A striker would help to mirror Caton and play on the other side. Thomas is a stop-gap there and Hall/Evans don't really run in behind so I'd imagine that's where Cal is looking.
MOTM was Murray. Missed a sitter but kept going and scored a worldie. We're in the hat and that's all that counts.

A much better 2nd half and job done overall though we just about edged it and survived a potential banana skin. Just need a home draw now

Judging on the performance today we are just an average team I agree a win is a win but can we challenge at the top end of the table with this squad? We scored 3 goals but really need a target man someone to hit crosses to I'm sure Cal is working hard to solve the problems but strikers are gold dust not going to be easy King Kurt seems to be struggling for goals or even a starting place at Oldham both clubs could benefit from maybe a loan deal? We can hope and dream on that one

Who's stopping you? If results and performances are bad, and some have been this season, criticism is more likely to be taken seriously. Behave. You know we can't criticise cal. We get it you don’t like him Andy, like we know you’re a solicitor 😴

Absolutely disgusting the news I’ve heard about Mr Freeth having his balls attended too during the first half. Put me right off my pie

They were always going to flag last half hour or so, we’re essentially full time vs very much part time and that showed.
First half was shite so let’s just park it.
Thomas going wide right second half helped Caton get a bit more space, so as others have said, we really need another forward as a focal point.
Friendly enough ground with a better bar than the Deva….
What a weird little town though, felt like a wonka land for the brewery.

Behave. You know we can't criticise cal. We get it you don’t like him Andy, like we know you’re a solicitor 😴 Odd response from you Ben. Rate Cal, how can you not rate the manager of the year? Your response however clearly demonstrates exactly what I'm talking about. Any criticism becomes I don't like him. I've no doubt you've gone the game and sunk a few so enjoy your afternoon and wind it in.

Few on here seem disappointed we didn't lose so they could post about it all week.
Shit first half, good 2nd half. Murray excellent, into the hat we go.

Wondered how long it would be before that was trotted out. Why the f would anyone want us to lose? We were dreadful first half, much better in the second against a team three leagues lower. Job done. That seems to be the general conclusion.
