We get it you don’t like him Andy, like we know you’re a solicitor 😴 Odd response from you Ben. Rate Cal, how can you not rate the manager of the year? Your response however clearly demonstrates exactly what I'm talking about. Any criticism becomes I don't like him. I've no doubt you've gone the game and sunk a few so enjoy your afternoon and wind it in. Ben? Tried to be clever and got my name wrong. 😂

Quite interesting to hear that we've only once gone out at 2nd qualifying round stage. Feels like a lot more! And ironically that was the FA Cup defeat under B&J that attracted the least attention and unlike the others wasn’t considered a humiliation - a narrow defeat to Alty after a replay.

Few on here seem disappointed we didn't lose so they could post about it all week. Shit first half, good 2nd half. Murray excellent, into the hat we go. God forbid a disappointing performance is commented on in equal measure as an improved performance eh? Never is equal measure though is it? Poor performances get far more posts than decent ones.

A seven page thread after a victory is new for this place to be fair. Good to see Cal also acknowledge the first half was disappointing. Second half much improved, overall a comfortable deserved win.

Some rather embarrassing comments on here of those questioning Cal. We are playing exactly the same way we were last season.

Murray motm again, Caton has poor service and worked his goal well. Midfielder was toothless again

Most of them were slating us for the first half to be fair and the rest is us defending them

Thought it wasn't going to be our day when Murray skied that sitter 1st half, class goal 2nd half to make up for it though and turn the game. His work rate and dribbling is key for us.
Agree with the Weeks/Glendon debate, it's tough because they're both great players at NLN level but I dare say having both is preventing us from signing an experienced forward. I'd lose one and happily have Whitehouse/Maguire in their place, but that would be a huge decision.
Pitch was pretty poor btw, bobbles everywhere which kills our passing play. I actually thought we put in some good crosses but we just don't have enough players in the box, or a natural poacher.
Was always going to be a slog but we deserved the win. Same issues remain for me, just not enough goal threat but comfortable on the ball but hopefully this is a step in the right direction

Posters we're asking if they could question Cal. Yes we were poor first half but still no reason to ask if we can question him is it.

Ah so they were ASKING if they could question him, not actually questioning him? Ok. FWIW he’s easily the best manager for us, the perfect fit and he’s doing a great job. Is team selection and tactics up for debate? Yes, and it always will be. Nature of supporters isn’t it? As I said earlier, that first half showing was no different to all of last season but we won a load and finished third. Most games were a chore but it’s results that count and it was a successful season all things considered. Today, we improved in the second half and won comfortably. It is what it is.

Do we really need Whitehouse Glendon Weeks and Murray in the same midfield? I think today has shown that they don't work together. Weeks and Glendon too similar. Today was crying out for Roberts/Earl/Burke in a defensive mid role Exactly, or Sparrow defensive midfield and Coates to right back.2 forwards up top Its too conjested and against a better team could easily have been 2 down due to sloppy misplaced passes.

Point is FOP how can people even begin to question him after what he did last season, the football wasn't great but it has not been great this season either.

I agree, last season was mostly a chore to watch but ultimately results were a success and that’s what matters most. Not like we played exciting, expansive football on our way to the Conference title in 2004 is it - much of it was a hard watch (apart from that goal blitz over the Christmas and New Year period against Tamworth and Leigh RMI) but we won the title. Someone quoted me earlier and said some absolute guff about you have to have played the game before you can have an opinion about a performance you’re seeing with your very own eyes. There’s exaggeration on both sides of the debate - those who think everything is amazing are just as wrong as those who think it’s all shite. I prefer to keep a level head.

Nice set up at Taddy. A nice bar with a decent selection of drinks and a great view of the pitch while your waiting. Plenty of booze on sale outside of the bar too.

Apart from Boston nobody has exactly coasted to a win there, and in fact Gloucester and Southport have been well beaten. I really don't think there's a bit difference from one league to the next once you get below the NL. I hate it when people look at games like ours today and say it's like a Premier League team playing a League Two team. No it isn't. It's a pointless comparison to make.

Macc at home next round would be good. Want the easiest route to the first round proper; that does not include playing Savage’s play thing in the next qualifier.
