Is Okeke German-born? First player from there to represent us I think, and German I think becomes the 31st nationality to play for Chester.
Should get him taking penalties!

What’s happened to Windsor? he's shite Is he though? Reasonable scoring record of 8 in 28 games in the NL South, which should in theory be the same standard as our league. Before today I'd have said I've seen more in him than in Norton.

Not a massive amount to say about today, other than that we got the job done against weak opposition. It wasn’t the most scintillating performance, or one which is going to alleviate all our concerns - but I prefer to focus on the positives after a win, and especially considering some of our recent results, simply posting three points on the board is far more important than the manner in which we’ve gained them.
I don’t think this win matters a great deal, though, unless we back it up with strong performances in our two upcoming away fixtures, which between them ought to provide a stronger indicator of where we are than a game like today, in which the result didn’t really feel in doubt even at 0-0. A very tough fixture on paper, but the sort of game in which we normally fare well, followed by a seemingly much easier match, but the sort in which we’ve often slipped up - win them both, and it might restore my faith in our ability to win promotion.

Convinced that there’s a good player in Norton, I just think maybe he needed something like that today, that slice of luck to fall his way to get him going. He’ll probably also need some patience from the stands (no guarantee at all). He’s a winger as well who’s filling in right up top whilst we are short, everyone can see how much he’s trying by the amount of people saying they are pleased for him.
Okeke was a breath of fresh air, still clearly a bit raw but bags of potential. Taylor much improved, thought it was more than just being allowed to go forward more, he did so with much more purpose and determination than usual and his deliveries in to the box were better.
Food for thought, Weeks may have scrabbled a few goals together late last season but his overall performance levels also noticeably dipped, before Glendon came back on to the scene. Maybe start there rather than going to the easy option.

Cityboy loves having a go at our players at any opportunity Dudley was his biggest target but since he's moved on it's now Windsor Saddo

Hard to make a judgement on us yesterday as Bishops Stortford were really poor. We made slightly heavy weather of a game that could have been 7-0. On the whole, we got 3 points with no injuries so a successful day.
However, there are still a few issues to sort. Firstly, we’re a bit boring for large spells in games. You can argue that’s no concern, and whilst we’re in and around the playoffs you’d be probably be right. That being said, people stood all around me yesterday were totally disengaged with the game for the first 45 minutes, it was like it was a background game on the telly in the pub. Like in say, fine whilst we’re winning but could cause problems down the line.
Secondly, we’ve got to find a way to sustain pressure for longer spells. We had them on the ropes when we scored our 1st and looked like we’d have gone on to get a hatful. But the spell of pressure dies off and we slowly retreat backwards. If we’re honest, we were keeping the ball in the corner to secure a 1-0 win against the worst team we’ve played all season. Cal will say it’s about finishing chances and he’s right, but we have to find a way to put poor teams to bed and kill them off early doors.
Okeke was great. Look forward to seeing him in a different test at Chorley on Tuesday. Rightly MOTM although I thought Glendon and Taylor both did well too.

It could have been a very different result if they'd scored their 2 big chances early on (almost an open goal, off the post after the defensive mix up later on)

Agree with everything you posted Jack, it’s funny that they were unchanged from the Trophy game against Aldershot which they won 6-1.

Much improved and needed performance. Bishop Stortford are one of the worst teams I’ve seen down there for some time though. Okeke was superb and wasn’t bogged down with the crab like effect that has hit several of the other players recently. And great to see Norton score, I’m convinced there’s a player in there. Fourth in the table is a good effort given how poor we have been at certain times this season and there is still hope if we could hit some form.

Considering we have been absolutely hammered with injuries to senior players this season we are going into the business end in 4th place.
Okeke looks a good addition, Caton and Peers hopefully fit for Tuesday and hopefully we can kick on to grab a playoff spot.

Wins a win at the end of the day. We can play well and lose, or play poor and win. Kole Hall needs a goal more than any one at the moment

Had to sit in the main stand yesterday for the first time since I was a kid due to 6 days straight of scaffolding around the wind turbines in Liverpool Bay had completely ruined my knees 😂
Anyway, observation - definitely a way we could get a concourse and bar beneath there? Little rejig of the lay out, few beer and food stands and maybe a few TV’s with the half time scores on? Insulate it too?
I know it’s not a priority, just like to dream.
Either way, nice to watch the game from a different angle but fuck me some of the old timers in there cracked me up.
When Norton was coming on I heard ‘may as well be Graham Norton’ which actually tickled me. And then another causal bit of racism about Okele being German - must be a‘funny part of Germany he comes from’
Honestly, no wonder Cal wants to fight them all.

Both just tip-tapping our own way into trouble. Needs to stop as we've conceded a couple like that this season - Blyth away comes to mind. I think Hall does a lot of good work that goes unnoticed. Technically he assisted that first goal. Wouldn't surprise me if he has one of the highest numbers of assists in our team. Good composure from Norton. Would've been easily for a striker low on confidence to fluff that.

If I can’t get on the terrace I’d rather sit in the west.

Norton showed some real pace and composure to gat the 2nd. Was one hell of a finish to beat the keeper. Hmmm, got himself in front of their man from the clearance and outpaced him. Kept his composure under pressure. A good goal, imo, and certainly a more difficult chance than the two sitters they missed. That one on seven minutes is an absolute howler and you wonder how the game would have panned out had we conceded early again.

He’s clearly short of confidence and has taken a few knocks in the game in a short period of time. But, you don’t spend time at Southampton, Stoke and play for Wales u21’s if you’re a complete duffer. That’s his first senior goal and hopefully it will help him kick on. And agreed about that chance early doors. It should have been a goal and given recent form that could have been a mountain to climb or certainly felt like one.

Please explain how you make the leap from raw to casual racism? Often used in football analysis and commentary alongside the likes of “NAIVE”, “LAZY” and referring to PACE and POWER regarding black players and/or African national teams. There was a study a few years ago about it. Not saying it’s deliberate but it’s there.
