Oh wow. Peers at the double! Heâs definitely Kurt Newco for us. Wrap him in cotton wool. Can we have a match thread without mentioning KW

Not really sure whatâs happened at Chorley but their defence is nowhere near what weâve come to expect from them in recent years. Easy pickings.

This is proper excellent! Crazy that we're nearly at the end of January and it's the first time Peers and Caton have started together.

Fancy a 2-0 win. Classic away day stuff. Caton and Williams. So far so good, with the score at least.

I hope we donât just sit deep and defend for the rest of the game, thereâs more goals here if we look to catch them on the break.

That was a really composed first half. Scored two and missed another 3 certain goals- I hope we donât regret those misses. Thereâs more goals for us in this if we stay calm and focused.

Joel Taylor on for Reece Daly - gone 5-3-2 with Burke and Taylor wing-backs. Midfield three of Whitehouse, Weeks and Glendon.

Chorley won their last six at home including 8-0 and 4-0 wins. I reckon weâve got our mojo back, winning like that away on a midweek!

The defence for the last few minutes are Heywood, Burke, Williams & Woodthorpe. That must be the youngest defence we've had in a league game ever, if not in a long time.
A few years back we had an average age in the late 30s of Roberts, Livesey, Grand & Fitzgerald.

Teams in form and away from home are games we do well in! Great 3 points that, need to build on this now

Brilliant that. Comfortable against a team that's bang in form. Score first, we seem to be able to play the game on our terms. No doubt having Caton and Peers available makes a massive difference.

We looked the real deal tonight: tactics spot on, really solid defensively and full of threat up front. Two goals and a clean sheet away at promotion rivals is some going.

Definitely makes a difference getting the first goal in a game - weâre like chalk and cheese. Going away to a play-off challenger bang in form and taking a 2-0 half time lead is superb. Itâs where Cal excels - getting the job done after taking the lead. Just need to somehow find a way to beat the low block and nothing will stop us.
Superb win that.

Weâre so good against teams above or around us. Wonât mention the tinpot crew playing at leisure centre.
Not one for negativity (or is it positivity financially) but with one of the best defensive records in the top 6 tiers, how long until teams come knocking for Matty, Burke or Stanway?
I mean theyâre all under contract and it would be decent fees, which is what our model needs to thrive but not seen defensive discipline like this from young lads in a while.
Hats off those who went tonight, Lymm services for a celebratory Maccies.

Made up with that. Hopefully Caton and Peers are fully fit for a good few games now and we can start building to the business end of the season.

Now THAT was a proper Cal Mac Chester side and look what we got from it. Made a very good playoff contender look shite. Canât wait for the Glendon and weeks canât play together/weâre a mid table side to analyse that game. Oh wait guarantee you lads didnât bother making the short trip to Chorley did you

Oh wait guarantee you lads didnât bother making the short trip to Chorley did you We do need to find a way to get through lesser sides who stop us playing though - look at Buxton tonight, lost 0-6 at home to Warrington. Makes our result against them look even worse. If we use that defeat as a springboard (two wins in a row without conceding since) then itâs all good, though. Kings Lynn away on Saturday - good opprotunity to gain some momentum.

Southport we shouldâve been 8-1 up at HT (thereâs a reason a few of their fans called us very strong title contenders) and then tonight

Oh wait guarantee you lads didnât bother making the short trip to Chorley did you Iâm the first to hold my hands upâŚ.didnât see that coming Just shows that our midfield given a forward pass can take it, Peers and Caton are brilliant at holding and running onto passes, and the press they provide means we can win second balls Never gave Chorley a look in second half brilliant game management that Letâs not forget they are bang in form onwards and upward COYB

Great result, what a difference having our top strikers back from injury makes. Cal has done bloody well to get us in fourth place through months of being plagued by injuries, some people expect us to win almost every game, and have an absolute meltdown when we lose back to back. Give your heads a wobble.
