I always thought the timing of Young's sacking/departure was pretty terrible. People forget that the three or four performances before he went were pretty good, and he was sacked something like 11 days after the last fixture and with the transfer window almost over, which didn't really make any sense. I think he deserved more time and might have got it right. Sacking/parting company with Young then was a lot more harsh than sacking McCarthy now would be in my opinion. Tend to agree. The board at the time were dazzled a bit by The Greatest Manager in Non-League TM and acted a little in haste. Be interested to see Burr & JMc spend (staff and playing budget) against NY in the Conference at Chester. Under Burr, when you add in JMc wages (was basically 1st team coach but paid through the CT as it was) it would be very interesting.

The philosophy of every football fan should be to support the club through thick and thin, good times and bad. There are too many so called supporters at our club who do not fit in to this category. Yes it's poor, boring, lack of tactics etc etc but it is our club. Let's get behind the lads, you never know it might work Despite all that's said by some of us deemed to be "negative" (I prefer the term "realist") you can still bet your life that we'll still be there this afternoon - and at every home game - showing our support. It's funny that for some of us every Saturday morning and the occasional Tuesday night often start with a clean slate whether or not you know deep down you're going to be disappointed yet again. That's football. I'll be there today and I'll be bringing my eldest for his second game of the season (he's not old enough to do midweek evenings). COYB.

I always thought that Youngie had an option to go back to his old job at merseyrail after taking a year off to go full time. I know what decision I would made if I had a family to think of. It may have been the case that the decision to leave suited both the club and manager

Weather is dreadful on the Wirral this morning but my phone's telling me it's OKish in Chester. No chance of the game being called off, is there?

Chester 0-2 Sutton, 1785 in attendance and with a bit of luck one of these weeks that bloke pretending to be a manager gets the sack at long last.

Not expecting much today. One of these days though we wil be treated to a sublime footballing feast. It happens rarely, but its the reason we keep going back for more punishment/entertainment. You just cant afford to risk not being there the day that.......

First time poster. Supporter since the early 70s. My 85 yr old dad still a regular. Have stayed away from these sites as they generally negative and 75% nonsense. BUT need to agree with Bing I too have seen some woeful football at Chester over the years and this team is NOWHERE near the worst. This post is supposed to be about the game on Saturday but is just a slag McCarthy fest. After 3 games undefeated ! Really ! Just reinforces my views about the negative nature of a lot of posts on here. While I'm on - prob first and last time. I was at Hartlepool, my first game this season, and sat with their fans (I hate watching football from the end of the pitch). When we scored the early goal, they were really rattled. We then played well for 20mins and had a couple of chances to go 2 up. That would have been game over. The creativity came from Mahon and Dawson with Akintundes pace really worried them. We were also the better team in early periods of the second half and as the game started to get stretched both teams had half chances. I think McCarthy didn't like it and went 4-5-1 to tighten it up. When the game is stretched our two centre back are too slow to cope, BUT they are very good at defending the edge of the box. It was a good point. Hartlepool did not play like a bottom 4 club and I suspect will be in the playoffs by the end. We're solid and worked massively hard for each other. Much better full backs. More solid centre mid but not creative - a concern. Thought Mahon played well and caused them problems. - for me losing him was the main reason we struggled after xmas last year. Surprisingly Akintunde and Hannah did well up front together. Whites cameo was ok. On balance, even after losing Hughes and Alabi, thought we looked a stronger side than last year. Back to the game on Saturday. Very important. 1W 3D is a much nicer place than 3D 1L. Get behind your team. Very good positive post Johnnyboy. Don't be cowed by the no marks on here. Keep posting as you see it. I can be a negative myself, but every game is fresh start. I've got to say though I think Macca is a smashing bloke, but what I see in print from him is sounding more and more like Mad Terry.

Ha. RCB getting the attention he craves! Maybe. But if it gets one person back for the next 20 games that is £240 for the club. It's worth it. Some people still seem to miss the point about a fans owned club. Or maybe they just don't care. Either way we need everyone. One person stops coming, maybe their mate does too. Then the people they sit/stand with stop coming. Hopefully he's read it, felt guilty and decided to go after all.

Makes me question how much of a fan some can be when you simply refuse to go because of the manager. Half of us on here would rather see someone else in charge but we go because we're Chester Fans. Nobody's asking you to start chanting JMs blue white army.

Back onto todays game. it's my first game this season as I was in France for the first two games of the season. I'm going for a home win today if only for the fact that the law of averages says it will happen sometime surely.
If we win it may help us kick on a bit, if we lose... well... I think we all know what the mood on here will be like.

It's not cheap, and it's often of questionable enjoyment. To say you're not going until we get a new manager though, that sounds like a boycott, which is pretty juvenile. We're not that sort of club anymore.

Latest odds for those interested:
Chester. 12/5 Draw. 12/5 Sutton. 11/10
Personally, I would settle for a draw against what looks a half-decent Sutton side PROVIDING I see a performance which gives me some hope for the immediate future. I really hope JM, for once, recognises we are the HOME TEAM and it should be US taking the game to THEM. I live in hope!

Bell and White both injured. My worries about white are coming into fruition a bit this is his second knock since he joined us. He really needs to work on that with the physio as we are left short of options going forward. Changing room looks brilliant for anyone that hasn't seen them, check Dave Powells Twitter. Really high standard.

The bench says it all really no strength in depth, looking clueless with a manager who is rudderless. Sorry to say but this is awful don't see how we can turn this one around, Chappell behind akintunde comin that's like putting me behind my missus i'd still miss 😂
