There is a good side in there somewhere it's just a great shame it's managed by a spineless, passionless, negative twat. He should take full responsibility for conceading that winner, fucking disgraceful. We were the home team and he has us sit back and invite pressure to settle for another "outstanding" point. We needed to protect McCombe in those last few minutes he was clearly crocked and the ball being up the other end would have been a much better way of making sure McCombe wasn't asked to do much.
Sack McCarthy, get Bignot in.

I don't want to hear anything about being unlucky. We got exactly what we deserved. We shown great character to come back and the momentum was with us but then McCarthy does his usual shut up shop even though we're at home and I expect these late winners against us these days unfortunately. Its not unlucky anymore - think of all the last minute winners against us in recent months, its no coincidence. Its the god awful tactics he comes up with on his subbuteo table that are our undoing - when I saw the picture of that subbuteo table in the dressing room I immediately thought that sounds like something Mad Terry would have done back in the day.
The first half was utterly dreadful and summed up by the tactic of everyone back at corner. Quite rightfully the crowd turned on McCarthy - people have had enough of it and I absolutely cannot stand watching Ross Hannah clearing the ball to somewhere where he should be. Sutton had done their homework - they had 4 men on the edge of the penalty area waiting to pick up the ball in the second phase. It simply doesn't work and its truly embarrassing to watch. The only thing that stopped them getting booed off at half time was Mahon's goal, which gave us a chink of light and gave us hope when we had done little to deserve it. We had a 15 minute spell in the 2nd half when Mahon started making things happen and miraculously we passed the ball around and stretched them a bit. But once we got it back we reverted to type and hoofed and sat deep.
The full backs are a massive worry for me - LRT is a poor mans Johnny Hunt and although he did ok trying to get forwards he has little skill or ability, just tenacity. Halls had a dreadful game and hardly found a blue shirt all match. In defence of Halls, every time he gets the ball he had no forward option as Dawson is constantly sucked inside so his only options are to pass inside or hoof it to Akintunde, so I can understand why he's frustrated. McCombe was limping early on in the match but McCarthy didn't sign any other defenders during the summer so we're stuck with two tanks who we expect to play 46 games.
Injuries piling up again too, 3 of our 4 strikers now injured.
How long can the board ignore whats going on? Its not as simple as only being 4 games in - this is now a continuation of last year and things desperately need freshening up. He's had more patience than what he'd get at most other clubs, and I think we'll have to be brave and do what Torquay did otherwise I'm sorry to say it's another relegation battle. Worryingly I think that the board have been sucked into his delusions that everything is great. Can't knock the blokes work ethic but its plainly obvious that his tactics do not work and the fans and players are frustrated. He is stubborn and will not change or will not admit any weakness. It is absolutely not acceptable to have not won a home game since December last year and it cannot be allowed to continue. We're making strides off the pitch but it will be undermined by whats happening on it if this dross continues to be served up. The sponsors will see the attendances drop which gives lower exposure, the folks in hospitality won't want to watch boring football and last minute winners go against us every week, and already just 3 home games into the season we're down to 1600 which says it all. The atmosphere in the first half was toxic and I've seen it many times in the past.....once it gets like that then there's no way back. I'd be interested to hear anyone defend McCarthy tonight, as I'm totally stumped as to why anyone would still have faith in him.
Worryingly, Sutton weren't great. Halifax weren't great. Fylde haven't won a game yet. Hartlepool lost again today. Who exactly are we expecting to beat? Terrible start to the season.

How long can the board ignore whats going on? Its not as simple as only being 4 games in - this is now a continuation of last year and things desperately need freshening up. This is plainly obvious but people can't see it. Talk of needing to give him 10 games is nonsense. If supporters, and the board for that matter, need more time to figure out JM's various flaws then I'm at a loss. His record is absolutely abysmal and there's no sign of things improving on last season's debacle. What more do the board need? They've got form for dithering with struggling managers and as much as I respect what they're doing off the pitch, their bizarre backing of McCarthy is proving very harmful. Take today's gate as an example. They need to give us a chance and act now.

Where do you start with that? Those first 45 minutes were shambolic. We sat deep, invited pressure, hoofed the ball away, yet failed to get near any of their players when they finally did work a space. For McCarthy to turn around and argue with the crowd, who quite rightly were frustrated by what they were seeing yet again, shows a man that has utterly lost the plot. Only he can see what everyone else is seeing and think it's acceptable. We scored out of nothing at the end of the half, completely against the run of play, otherwise I've no doubt there would have been a chorus of boos as the whistle went.
The second half started in much the same fashion. We should have been 3-1 down, as their goal should never have been disallowed. If it had have been, it could have been any number, as we were completely overwhelmed at that point. The decision rattled Sutton and for 15 minutes we decided to have a go. We played it through midfield, full backs got forwards and Akintunde looked dangerous. We scored a good goal and we looked on for a completely unexpected point. Then, McCarthy decides to encourage them to camp back inside their own box - as if we were an away team, holding on in a cup tie. We aren't good enough to defend like that and inevitably we conceded, cue the mass exodus of fans from the stadium - several making their feelings very evidently clear to JM, yet still, even now, there is the odd happy clapper willing to defend him in retaliation. I can only assume JM must have shared a pint with them in the Blues Bar or kissed their babies head at some point. There can be no logical argument for supporting a manager who is quite clearly so tactically inept.
There are some good players in this squad - footballers who played for teams last season that finished just outside the playoffs. They looked frustrated. They looked as though they have been told to play against their instincts. Hoofing the ball into space, in the hope of winning a second ball, whilst camped on the edge of your own box is not a tactic many of them will have been asked to do before.
The board need to look at this, immediately. There were 1600 there today. How many will be there in November and December? Our football club cannot afford crowds of 1300, which is where we are heading under this manager. Too many board members want to put on their suit, swan around the ground and have their pictures taken at half time on the pitch. It's time they stepped up, made the decision that should have been made at the end of last season, and allowed a proper manager to come in and rescue our season, before we are in October and it's too late. It's not about 4 games of football, it's about the shambolic form since last December, which hasn't changed with a new squad of players.

Deserved to lose. A win or lost would have simply papered over the cracks and Macca would have congratulated himself on a job well done. He has a lot to answer to but don't worry he has come out with another deluded post match interview.
4 defenders and one fit striker, going to be a long season.
Only Mahon, Dawson and Akintunde can hold their heads up high tonight. Everyone else was shambolic.

I've been saying for months now the bloke ain't a manager and never will be, he is as clueless as mad terry,I'm just waiting for him to stand on top of the stand next with his notebook and pen, should of gone last season, we need to appoint a manager who knows the league, Harrison is another who won't last long at hartlepool, this league is alot different to the Welsh league

We have not got the money to sack him, but I think the board need to speak to him and say things are not working we have not won a home game since 17th Dec 2016, you must agree this is not good enough and we are going to do something about it by fetching fresh blood in to sort it out, now you can either sit your contract out our you can go with an agreed offer it's up to you, something needs to be done attendances have dropped since first home game by 700 and before someone says how do you work that out fylde 2300 approx, Halifax just over 2000 today 1600 approx need to act fast

That's going to keep happening, he can’t get the job done. I think Mahon’s goal out of the blue spared a horrendous reception at half time as that first 45 minutes was possibly the worst I’ve ever seen from a Chester team. Sutton completely lost their heads in the second half which allowed us a way back in to it and put some pressure on them but even that fizzled out pretty quickly. Mahon was deservedly awarded man of the match, he’s not at his free flowing best but was trying his damnedest to drive us forward. We did have a go at times but it was all very laboured and disjointed.
Our last home win was so long ago it’s quite possible a Chester fan went home after the Aldershot win in a good mood, conceived with their partner and now be holding a baby in their arms, an entire pregnancy. It’s just not working and somebody who can make a decision needs to realise it.

Absolute shambles today. When the equaliser went in we should've pressed on. They were poor and just a bunch of cloggers. First half was appalling. Tactically it's woeful. There are several quality players who are being dragged down by McCarthy.
Squad is disproportionate. Needed another centre back in close season not the re-signing of Joyce and Chappell. Shaw should be a sub as well to give another physical option.
Jordan Chappell's performance was woeful today. Never seen a player knocked off a ball so easily.
Fair play to Astles and Mahon they gave everything today.

This is dreadful hes even having a go at the crowd Worth noting that he also did this to some fans in the Halifax match. How f**king dare he? I am seething with rage that he thinks it is acceptable to turn around and mouth off at supporters who are paying his wages with their hard earned money when he's overseen EIGHT months without a home win and football of the quality on par with a pub team on a playing field. The sheer brass neck of the man is absolutely astounding. In what other industry is it acceptable to turn around and have a go at your customers and expect them to happily come back the following week? The disdain for which he has for our clubs supporters is something I have never seen in football before. And then for him to go on about how grateful he is for the fans support in the post-match interview - he is an absolute disgrace to this great football club. The game itself - the less said about the first half, the better - it was one of the worst footballing performances I have ever had the displeasure of paying to watch. Second half, the players quite rightly ditched McCarthy's horrific tactics and played as the team everybody but McCarthy knows they are capable of. We stopped aimlessly hoofing the ball up to 5ft 6" strikers, got the ball on the deck and were spreading the ball brilliantly from flank to flank, stretching the Sutton team and to be fair, completely outplaying them. Today is a turning point for me. McCarthy has a choice now - if he is to have any chance, any chance at all, of saving his job, he has to stop with his negative hoofball tactics. We stopped it for 25 minutes today and looked a very capable side. Listening to his post-match interview though, I doubt he has learnt his lesson "we'll set up and make things difficult for Aldershot" a.k.a "I don't have a f**king clue how to beat them and will play for the draw" - he's nothing if not ignorant and stubborn. And his ignorance and stubbornness is exactly what is going to see him sacked and fairly soon I would imagine - 1,600 fans at the third home match of the season - WELL DONE JON.

Hmmmmm, Im usually very positive but I was stunned by the general atmosphere in the first half. The players looked beaten before they kicked a ball and the feeling in the stand was one of waiting for the loss.
I don't see like to see anyone lose their job but I don't see any other outcome here unfortunately as it's just reached that point where it would be best for both parties.
As another poster described it. That first half was toxic and not enjoyable.

Anyone that dare questions his methods and philosophy gets the same treatment - be it a fan, member of the media or whoever. How can any football manager, particularly on a run that he's been on, expect anything less? He's incredibly lucky to still be in a job - any other football club would have got rid of him at the end of last season. He treats the fans with disdain - he laughed in the face of fans who were giving stick to Burr during the final throws of that reign, made hand signals towards fans after the Boreham Wood game, turns around and gesticulates with some today. How dare he? If he can't handle criticism, he shouldn't be a football manager. It's hard to decide whether he's arrogant, stubborn or knows that, no matter what, he'll still be in that dugout the following week, with us paying his wages.

Lost patience with McCarthy. Tried to defend him speaking to the fan in crowd as I do think it would be hard to take being abused for half hour. However applauding the crowd for increasing the atmosphere looked a sarcastic p*ss take. Anyway to the game. I don't think there is any point talking about the negatives, all are covered above and all are true, even some of the more dramatic posters on paper have got it spot on to be honest.
I'll try to pick out a few positives: Good character to come From 0-2, Craig Mahon looked superb second half, back to where he should be. Akintunde looks a really good player, and he will need to be as we've signed a bunch of crocks.

It's obvious we need a change or we will be heading in the wrong direction on and impacting off field perceptions, I think he needs to take a look at himself and admit he's not up to a manager role at this level. I hope the board can do something as the results of what is happening and impact to our club could be a lot worse than we ever imagined and no way back. I would propose to him going back to working with the community and stay away from coaching, bring in Graham Barrow in a short term to try and bring Shaw on. This would give everything in the club a massive boost , including the players. As I do think we've got a squad of decent players

I said that I think the players have just gone against his instructions. I like McCarthy and I really hope that he can sort it out but this game plan / tactics are simply not working.
We showed in them 20 minutes that the players are more than capable of being a half decent side.
Very dissapointed with 1600 but that's probably our hardcore. The floating fan simply won't pay without being entertained.

We were so defensive against Halifax and the only reason we didn't lose is because Halifax didn't have the quality to snatch the points. Sutton do. Defensive tactics simply will not work tomorrow. So come on McCarthy, live up to your recent interview and give us some attacking, expansive football. Another result similar to the one last year would be good! What was I saying aye... That second half showed what this team is capable of. It HAS to be apparent to McCarthy this is the way forward; to get the full backs going forward, stretching the play, threading balls into Akintunde etc etc.

Biggest budget since the club reformed this season, yet we are playing the cuckold at home.
The shockingly low home attendance will certainly have the board shaken.
