Was thinking this before the game, Macclesfield were in crisis with no players and they were all leaving but soon snapped players up late on and have had a decent start. I was shocked we released Durrell. They continue to have a very good manager though. We, er, don't! Very true. I can just imagine the interview him saying "we were fantastic in spells and saw plenty of positives considering we have no strikers.

Time for a parting of ways sadly. Deserves to go just on the basis of this awful home run.

I tbink this is now the longest winless home run in our long history. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Surely that has to be it. As has just been pointed out, we raided Macc for their apparently better players, they've got ones we've released, and they appear from the commentary to have outplayed us. A club like Macclesfield should not do so - they undoubtedly have smaller resources than we do. It's got to be management/coaching.
As I said after the game at Aldershot, whilst the win was great, we should have been dead and buried by half time. Grit and determination, plus a very large slice of luck, got us the win.
I'm afraid Macca has to go. The home record is almost literally unbelievable - UNBELIEVABLE - and there is very little sign that we will turn it around anytime soon: I can't remember the last time we were the better side, against anyone. What has to happen for us to sack him? A year without a home win? A sub 1,000 gate on a cold night? 10 points adrift in the bottom 4? What? What? For crying out loud, MAKE A DECISION, those of you who are supporters on the Board - we are being strangled to death slowly here.

All getting rather predictable - ah well there's always next week !
I see Alabi was not in the Tranmere squad today.
Can we have him back on loan please ?

Well, Macc showed up.
Not much to say, other than JM was receiving so much stick at the end that surely his time at the club is up. I'm afraid you've lost the supporters John.

Good to hear the honesty of Ross Hannah on the Mixr coverage. Rather have him on the pitch though! Desperately disappointing result continuing an awful home run. No strikers. No surprise in all honesty. A draw would have been OK. Macca? I would stay patient - though that is difficult. I am struck by the fact that every player at every interview speaks very positively about him and the back room setup. Next two games important. Probably better to be away from the Deva for a while. As for the likely comments on here. Be critical, but not abusive. Serves no purpose and isn't necessary.

Have to admit watching that has converted me from give him a chance to get rid now. That was the most gutless, clueless and downright embarrassing 'performance' I can remember since reforming.
11 men back defending a corner (at 1-0 down, at home...) and the lad vollys it in on our 6 yard line.
Nice guy, very knowledgeable, but games are not won on blackboards or with statistical analysis. Jon McCarthy has just been schooled by John Askey, with a team that JMc raided for their best, and instrumental was a player that was popular here (see his reception today) and that McCarthy deemed not good enough.
Time for the board to act before it becomes too late. One swallow did not make a summer it seems...

He needs to walk or the board needs to act. I like the bloke but action needs taking now!

And dont even start me on Jordan Chappell. Giving him a contract for this season should have set the alarm bells ringing.
Matty Waters is 5 times the player of this clown.

Of course it was always going to be difficult without strikers but you can't blame thst on some of the basic errors we kept making.
Rowe-Turner, Chappell, Joyce...not Conference standard.

Grim, can't possibly defend such a poor home record. I think it's time for a change of management pretty soon. Kingsley was my pick today from a very poor showing. Thought he ran his socks off and maybe should have scored.

There can be no defending that. I thought macc were poor, but they catered to a win and should have had more goals
McCarthy please quit before you do irreversible damage

Why only 1 substitution and that at 88mins has he no faith in who he puts on the bench at 0-2 its got to be all change to try and get something but no 1 time wasting sub near the end

Hi all first ever post although an avid deva chat reader and been a chester fan for 30 years since I have been 5. Just had to post today
Two things for me he macca calls the players on for a huddle on a drinks break 4 or 5 of them walked over two didn't join at all says it all about losing the dressing room your manager jumps you ask how high
Secondly at the end of the match both Kingsley and astles were visibly embarrassed they could barely make eye contact with mccarthy
He has lost the dressing room. The heart, desire and commitment is simply not there to play for the manager

Me again ha! No problem with playing the ball long but we had chappell up front. You play to your strengths Lincoln played alot of pace around Matt rhead. They executed a game plan. anyone involved in football like me knows the fundamental basics and tactics are missing.
We had no width despite having mahon and chappell on. We had no Steel In midfield as Kingsley was being played as a number 10
Didn't get it today I really didn't

They might speak nicely about him but that doesn't count for anything on the pitch where it matters, and I think it's obvious that they hate his tactics and aren't playing for him.

The interview was as car crash as the performance. He was asked the question about performances, no wins at home and the loyal paying fans. He goes on saying basically saying "but we won at Aldershot" and the usual tripe that we have injured strikers and it was a "tired home performance, who's he kidding? The cross bar won us that game on Saturday, Does he actually think that win buys him more time?

I sat next to a guy today who saw us for the first time and after 15 mins he commented about our lack of width. Everyone can see why doesn't JM?

Rowe - Turner is a weak link, both Sutton and Macc target him. That corner in the last minute there was a free ball, and he just looked at it, instead of wellying it. Mahon, dived. looking for another pen, embarrassing. We have some decent players, I like Dawson, Astles, Mahon (when he isn't diving) James, Halls, Akitunde, and we can play half decent away from home. So he must be doing something right. I think a 2 year contract for Hannah was a bad move. He's going to be injured for most if it I feel.

When the stadium is reverberating to the chant of 'out, out, out' at full time, there can be only one outcome.

Who is the fitness coach? One or two of the lads seem to be 'sturdy', and injuries are most likely to occur when not fit.
Can't believe what I heard in that post match interview. Players tired? Didn't Macc play on Sat? Doesn't accept any responsibility, let alone offer an apology. Over 2000 home fans, be lucky if 1500 at next one if nothing happens.
Enough is enough.

And before anyone starts I know we used all three, I've merely offering a possible explanation for WB's mistake.

The fans were class today giving their support to the players but letting McCarthy have both barrels at the end of the game.

Macc played Friday night. Yep, he pre-planned today's excuse as no strikers and they had an extra days rest. Saturday's will be the long journey and injuries, whilst next Tuesday will be the fact that we should have played that fixture on the opening day. He is boring and predictable, just like the performances we have to sit through each week. Let's not forget he's a lovely bloke with a family, who may have been hurt by some of that chanting today. He does wonderful work in the community and the on the pitch performances aren't the be all and end all, though......

As people have stated previously, the guy had his excuses lined up today before a ball was kicked. Relegation is a certainty with this fraudster masquerading as a football manager in charge. Sick to the back teeth of him, his negative one paced safety style football, and as for that defending for the second goal, words fail me!
