Such a shame that we can't celebrate our success at Aldershot for long as we are back in action tomorrow against Macclesfield. Saying that, we need to get that home monkey off our back, and tomorrow is a great opportunity to do so. With a healthy crowd expected I, along with many others, are praying to get that home win which can change our season. It needs to come very soon, but if we play like we did in the second half at Aldershot for the WHOLE game then that belated home win should come. Us fans have a big part to play. From the first minute our players need our support right until the last minute. No booing, no groaning as they may feel under pressure, but if we all stay together and get behind them for the entire match then we can help them to a very important victory. Come On Blue Boys! Score: Chester FC (Dawson, Mahon) 2-1 Macclesfield Town Attendance: 2,241 (376 Macclesfield) COYB!

Failure to win will undo all the good work of yesterday. I think Rio is right though, the home run without a win has become a monkey on our backs and I am sure the players are feeling it as well. Really important for us as fans to be right behind the team from the word go on Monday as we know we are good enough to win. On the other hand though, the players have a duty to make a decent start to the games (unlike the last two matches).
You know if we win it doesn't make the start to the season that bad overall really. Averaging 1.2 points per game which will leave us on about 60 at the end of the season if we can keep that form up.
If...

So I'm predicting a home win - once again because the law of averages says it will happen sooner rather than later.

How can you predict what is going to happen next at the moment!? I'd love to think we will take what happened yesterday and really build on it. It is essential that this home 'hoodoo' is ended as soon as possible. Anything less than a win will only restore the negative belief that we got lucky yesterday and things need to change. I really hope we see a positive display, where we come out and take the game to Macclesfield - it is a bit of a grudge match with the player swaps over the summer. I'm not brave enough to predict a victory so will go for a 1-1 draw!

I really hope we can push on and start the game positively, if we do that we'll have a real chance.
I fear we'll start negatively and be 2-0 down ah half time and lose 2-1. 1785 attendance.
Hope I'm wrong on both counts.

I remember when Ian Rush was manager and we had a very disappointing start to the season and we managed to break our winless run against Macclesfield with a late goal in a 1-0 win. It wasn't pretty but I'd take a scruffy 1-0 win all day. Will it happen ... only if we start the game in a positive, confident and offensive manner.

In my simplistic view of the world, I would've thought the team talk would be very straightforward:
"Listen guys, you've shown you're a good team given the chance to show it, do what you did in parts against Sutton and Aldershot and we'll be OK, the crowd will be happy and we'll win!!!"
Request to JM: don't over-complicate matters, keep it simple and give them their heads
Going for 2-0 win, long overdue at the Deva

Chester win 1 - 0 with Duzza to score an own goal from a set piece. His first after twelve of trying. Macc play most of the game with 12 players because the referee doesn't Realise Lloyd is on the pitch along with the rest of the crowd.
McCarthy to then make the comment that he's made the biggest comeback since Lazarus.

There's no doubting that our players are more than good enough to beat Macclesfield. They've demonstrated that in the previous second halves in our last 2 games.
I just hope JM doesn't overthink this one. Let the players play and we'll win. If we concern ourselves with 'occupying their full backs with our strikers', we will lose to a very capable Macc team.

Dawson might be the man to lead the line. 3 in 6 not bad at all. Might be able to do the job that Barry Butler did 20 odd years ago.

Unbelievable bad luck to have all four strikers out so soon into the season. I mean that is really unfortunate. Bound to effect our chances but the midfield needs to push up and goals could from the likes of James and Turnbull. So, with fingers crossed, I am going for a 2-1 win with goals from Mahon and James with Durrell getting one for them from a set piece. 2250 attendance.
Hope Matty Waters gets a run out. He has so much potential.
COYB!

1-0 home win, Dawson penalty after Mahon fouled by Durrell. Durrell sent off. Macc hit bar 5 times and Chapell MoM. Mitchell plays a blinder. We get the win but the Macca out brigade continue on. 2000 att.

Forgot Durrel played for Mac. I rated him highly and no doubt he'll be well up for it and we'll have to stop him playing.

Beating Macc is a tough ask with no strikers.
If it wasn't for our desperation for a long overdue home win, a point wouldn't be too bad today.
Having four strikers was a real plus for us this season. Unfortunately they're all injured. For a while too, it would seem. Pity as we've now got three games where we should pick up points. As we've seen this season if you can't keep the ball upfront, you'll always be under pressure. An out ball, and someone to hold the ball up, can be the difference between a good team and an average one. It allows the midfield to get up field and support the strikers. They can't do it often if it keeps coming back.
Reluctantly, I'll go 1-1. Losing at half time and pull it back second half. McCombe header.

Dawson looked good in that role. Lacks pace but held the ball up well. As you say that system only works if the midfield win their battles and get forwards to support him. Worked in the second half at Shots - the injury to Akintunde proved to be a blessing -in the first half he was far too isolated and they simply relied on the lump forwards hoping that his pace would create something. All that happened was that the ball kept being lost allowing Shots to mount wave after wave of attacks. James and Turnbull looked like different players in the second balf and Mahon was much mor influential. The pass to Chappel for the winner was a beauty.

Would love a win but just can't see it, luckily the next two are winnable, but we do need a home win. Chester 1-2 Macc. ATT 2,120 with 240 Macc.

Don't know why but I have a good feeling about today, could be our version of Dunkirk, 2-1 win but because of the lack of forwards I would be happy with a draw as long as it's a good performance from the lads . Come on you blues.

Yes, there are three possible outcomes of a match - win, lose or draw - but that doesn't mean each of them has a 1/3 chance of happening. I once had a mate who thought the odds of something happening or not happening was 1 in 2, as it either happened or it didn't - even winning the lottery! He was an idiot to be fair.
