No response from any of them shock horror I think the lack of response is partly because a) people ignore you b how can you expect supporters to say who a manager should be, when clearly they have no idea who is available or interested for a post. Also because even the posters who are highly critical of them rarely advocate for their sacking. I mean does anyone genuinely think they should be sacked?

Worth having a look at the third goal in particular...absolutely criminal. The guy is standing unmarked in the middle for an eternity before the cross comes in. Our centre halves didn't exactly cover themselves in glory on Saturday

Certainly not advocating sacking them, but this 2 and a half year contract extension is a massive gamble. People on here have said that their remit last season was to avoid a second consecutive relegation (is that actual or imagined?). I would have thought that having seen Halifax bounce straight back that we ought to have had that aim and the minimum would be to at least make the play-offs. I feel if we don't make the paly-offs this season that will be failure.

I noticed that on the day and thought it had been disallowed, but he put it down again pretty quickly. All academic, as we got exactly what we deserved and credit to the managers for not making it an issue. I'd suggest a few of our players need to 'man up'.

For all of their chances, we probably had the best of the match at 0-0. Dudley, IMO the best finisher on the pitch, unmarked from about 7 yards out. No excuses for not burying that.
I've already mentioned their players banging on our dressing room door and cheering at FT, rightly bollocked by their coach for it. Then telling Chester fans to f*** off when told to grow up.
Now I've just noticed instead of celebrating a third goal in the biggest game in their history, they try to antagonise our managers and bench.
Great club, friendly people, strange team. Good luck at Ebbsfleet.

Even the best teams have shockers, the lower the league, the more frequent you would expect them to be. Like others have said, we need to get over it and focus on the rest of the season and consolidating a third or higher place.
BUT, we should NOT consign this to the back of our minds/treat it as "one of those things". The club/management need to seriously look at our record against lower league teams/cup games and try and identify area(s) which we can realistically improve. Since Burr and Barnsley, regardless of manager, we have under-performed in cups - at times in the most embarrassing way. I don't know what the reason is (if I did I would be a football manager) but presumably it's not beyond the wit of man to start looking at the likely candidates and trying to address them (motivation, over-confidence, the inability to do a long bus journey and play a game in the same day (which seems to affect us on leagues games too), etc etc).
I suppose what I'm saying is at least have a plan for identifying these issues and then once they are identified, try to remedy them, so that (hopefully) things can only get better.
I'm a big supporter of the contract extensions for the managers but I would be much more comforted if the gaffers had responded that they were going to do what I suggest rather than simply say the performance was unacceptable/embarrassing. You don't have to know the cause of an issue to start a process to deal with it. What bothers me is that we don't seem able to even start this process.
FA Cup/Trophy games are potentially a v good source of income - and as we all know as a fan owned club, our income is v one dimensional (ticket sales). As we also all know (broadly speaking) when spending is sensible, a larger playing budget should result in better results than a lower one. Our home attendances, despite results, seem to be stubbornly in the 1600-1800 range and from what I see are affected as much if not more by the number away supporters than our home performances. So whilst I am not saying we should ignore a focus on increasing attendances (of course we should), it feels like the law of diminishing returns is a limiting factor on this that we just need to come to terms with and be much more open to [easier] alternatives.
So what worries me is that the club/management/players are missing a trick. At our level the management/club need to have a bit more commercial nouse and realise that one of the easiest alternatives to our one dimensional income is cup income (until some/all of the Stuart Murphy stuff comes online). Without wanting to resort to business cliches, Royston should have been "low hanging fruit" in this respect and we are mugs to let this money slip through our fingers - esp at a time of year when we could do with some £££s in the war chest as other teams look to strengthen their squads for the push to the end of the season.
I wound't have had any problem if we had been played off the park by Royston this season, or Kiddy in the past, etc if we had turned up, looked ourselves in the faces and were happy we had tried our best and just been beaten by the better team. But that doesn't seem to ever be the case for us.
So I would just like us to start to do something to end what feels like a congenital issue for the club - and if we are doing something - for someone to put my mind at rest by letting me and the rest of the fans know!

Griffiths doesn't Inspire confidence They all look very poor from our point of view don't they. Don't deserve anything out of a game if you defend like that. The first goal stems from two high balls that we don't come anywhere near to winning. The second looks like a keeper error as you say and the third, again, is a free header in the middle of our own box.

The key issue is around notice periods should termination be necessary as this should never be confused with the contract length as the two are independent. The issues with JM were not linked to his contract extension but the decision of the board not to issue you him his notice at the end of the season .

Regardless of notice periods the contract length is very important as it dictates the level of payoff required should termination be required. I don't think we will get anyone more suited to where we are than Johnson and Morley, the options would appear to be Ian Sharps (never managed anywhere) or Andy Morrison (horrible football, horrible man). They get fan ownership, they use social media to communicate and strengthen their bond with our younger supporters and we win more than we lose. I cannot see how they can be blamed for Saturday following the excellent run we'd been on. Surely that is down to the players?

Given the injuries to Livesay, Asante and Waring then it was probably the best it could be, and there still should have been plenty enough to beat a team from the league below. The players certainly have to take their fair share of responsibility. Seems to be some basic football errors in those goals, and you'd expect better from the players we had out. Bern and Jonno take the flack and the praise for results but sometimes the players have to be more accountable - they are the ones that cross the white line.

You're right that the players have to take responsibility, but there must also be an element of coaching and organising. We've looked reasonably solid with Livesey and Grand as a partnership but the middle of defence was all over the place on Saturday. Do we just blame Jones, or is there a wider issue? You'd like to think Jones would just slot in. If he's been identified as not good enough, why is he still here? He was at Boston on loan last season and was rated there.

I haven’t been impressed by Jones so far. I thought he was half decent before he went to Salford but was surprised they took a chance on him. I had hoped that his poor performances were down to match sharpness & he has had the odd good game but overall he’s a liability. All that said I’m not sure there are many other options we could bring in who would be an improvement.
Unless the Royston number 5 fancies a move to the NW.

I do think there's an issue with dealing with balls into the box, and that's whether it's Livesay or Jones alongside Grand. It's been an issue for a while, so yes I would say the management should be looking at that. But regardless of that, you expect players at this level to be able to do the basics and there's only so much B&J can do when players fail to do the basic things expected of them. Some of that defending looks like absolute schoolboy stuff. As for Jones, it must be difficult to come in from the cold and perform but he's not convinced me on the times I've seen him. Having him around as backup is probably a budget consideration - Livesay and Grand are first choice so do we utilise budget on a 3rd choice centre back, or save that money and bring in a loan signing for peanuts/nothing. He's only been used a handful of times so personally I think it's probably the right thing to do. I'd prefer to see Morgan at right back and shift Kev Roberts in the middle for those circumstances, but they probably feel an obligation to play Jones to protect the Salford relationship for future use. If they send players to us that we don't use then they'll think twice about doing us a favour again. Bearing in mind they gave us Livesay and Duds for free last season, its a relationship worth protecting regardless of what you think of Salford.

It's odd in a way that Jones gets stick for joining Salford, but Tom Crawford doesn't for joining Notts County, where he hadn't played a game all season until last month. Salford and Notts have since swapped division as well.
I suppose the difference is that from the minute they signed Jones, Salford made it pretty clear they saw him as 'one for the future', whereas Crawford was featuring for Notts straight away.
