Out of our 2 trips to London this week, it is frustrating to return with two draws given the circumstances. But, if we beat Dagenham tomorrow then 5 points in a week will be a great return. It is a game which we should be aiming to win in front of the TV cameras. The Dagger’s may be 5th, but their away record has been dreadful this season, although we have to start making the Deva a fortress. Come On City! Score: Chester FC (Hannah, White, Turnbull) 3-1 Dagenham And Redbridge Attendance: 2,066 (70 Dagenham And Redbridge) COYB!

Can someone not get up before Rio to stsrt the match thread, hes a lovely young lad but his predictions are predictable at best and miles away at worst.
Although we have improved lately, we are still awful in defense, we will have to score three or more to win because I can see them getting two(At least)
So going for 2-2

I don't know why people get so wound up by Rio's positive predictions, myself. The moaning about them is a lot more tedious than his youthful optimism!

Can see us getting embarrassed here, 0-3 crowd 1,479. Wouldn't go that far, this league is much of a muchness, take Torquay winning at Sutton the other night for example. In fact, Dagenham's away record is identical to our own.

Huge game. Not quite must win but three points and the two away draws look decent. Anything less and those points dropped at Orient will look very costly. If we are going to stay up this is the sort of game we have to start winning at home. There aren't any great teams in this league. Appreciate that MB inherited a mess but we have to start judging him on results now - was very disappointing the way we started at Orient (and Eastleigh) and how we failed so badly to get to grips with playing against ten men on Tuesday until he belatedly changed it around late on. Hope to see us come out of the blocks all guns blazing tomorrow and get them on the back foot. Someone needs to give Bell a rocket up the arse and get him playing with a bit more aggression - gives defenders too easy a ride. And let Dawson take the penalties.

Remember last time D&R visited - no one was confident for that one (first home game last season I think?) and we battered them 3-0 with Durrell scoring a goal of the season candidate! I'm confidently going for a 1-0 win.

Just noticed that D&R haven't won away since the opening week of the season - 1 in 10. Surprising considering their league position!
Come on lads, let's be at it right from the first whistle - on the pitch and in the stands!

I think Rio's ridiculous optimism may be cursing us. He is never right so I'd like to request he starts predicting a few defeats.
Looks like a draw for me. We can't seem to win and we are a bit threadbare. It would be great to get a win though if, for nothing else, to avoid the issue of a certain idiot coming on here calling for Bignot to be sacked in the morning.
It's tough times. I didn't comment on Tuesdays game as I was so gutted and disappointed but on reflection it was a major missed opportunity and have we to start picking up 3 points. Yes the performances have picked up since he took over and the players look more motivated and organised but we can't keep failing to win. I'm hanging onto the fact that it;s slowly coming together and a decent run is around the corner. Maybe, just ,maybe we can start that tomorrow. Goin g to the ground with optimism, we'll find out how misplaced that is by mid afternoon.

Absolutely battering down here, sleeting and a bit of thunder for good measure, game may be in doubt if this continues.

Absolutely battering down here, sleeting and a bit of thunder for good measure, game may be in doubt if this continues. Was thinking the same, has not stopped raining hard all night, thunder and lighting to boot. Tbf with the amount of injuries and a long week head it may be a good thing for it to be off. Although the BT money is crucisl.

We've never had a game postponed or abandoned for rain - if we could play Wycombe in 2004 then we can play today. Would be great for the BT cameras and the watching world to see a blood and thunder non-league game played in monsoon conditions, players sliding through 10-feet wide and high puddles to put in crunching tackles. Hey, we're in a relegation battle now, I would expect nothing less.
As for the prediction, I would've taken a draw obviously against these but we desperately need a win and after the capitulation in midweek at Orient I'd take nothing less than a win today.

The match against Stockport was abandoned in heavy rain in 2008 and there was a game postponed against Grimsby for the same reason very early in Keith Curle’s season. I’m sure we had a game postponed on New Year’s Day because of it about four years ago too (Southport I think). All exceptions to the general rule that we get the games on in such conditions though.

My garden is covered in show. However, we haven’t had a home game called off for a long while so I think today’s game will be given the green light. I’ve seen pictures of the pitch just now and it looks playable. Club is just waiting for Tony Allen to arrive to have a look at it.

I'm a out a mile away from the Deva, and there's a good covering of snow outside. Less than an inch though, and the ground is not frozen.
Probably get called off because we don't have an Orange ball!

My mind is telling me we had a game called off for heavy rain in August a few years back, or am I going round the bend.
edit, I think I may have been getting confused, just done a quick search and our opening game against Grays Athletic was called off by the FA as the oldco hadn't sorted paperwork out in time for a company name change. puts our problems today into a little more perspective

The weather always seems to be dire when we play at home, no doubt keeping the floating fans entrenched on their sofas.
Quite like games in sleet and snow - tend to be more action packed!

Dag are awful away and that combined with our superb couple of battling away points makes me feel like today is the day. Chester 5-1 dag. Is my prediction, but feel it might be even better with a fast start.

Haven’t got a great vibe about this one. 2-2 draw Akintunde and Dawson. Lots of earnest endeavour to overcome two moments of defensive calamity.
On abandoned matches I remember two from Sealand Road days: League Cup vs Plymouth, broken crossbar and another game when dog rolled in after the start and the game having to be a boned a real pea supper but can’t remember who we were playing but don’t think it was a league match. Anyone remember this?
