He's not got much to work with, but Bignot's tactics yesterday were frustrating. He's gone 3 at the back to solidify us and it's worked to an extent, we've produced decent away performances. At home though, we're so narrow that it's hard to create chances. When our wing backs had the ball, they looked up and had no options whatsoever. Surely we needed Hannah and Bell to pull wide to run the channel? That would allow us to keep the ball and also create holes for a surging Akintunde/Dawson/James to get forward? Bell and Hannah stayed more or less on top of each other and as a result we had to turn and play backwards. MB has impressed me hugely since he arrived, but I thought we needed to see something different yesterday. Away from home it suits us, but at home I'd like to see a bit of width. Don't get me started on the lack of runs down the channels. I've gone about this for the last two seasons. The only game we did run the channels successfully was against Maidenhead, by Akintunde. They couldn't cope with it. Those runs would make Dawson's job a lot easier. He'd have someone in space to pass the ball to.

Do people realise we have one of the biggest pitches in the whole country? So why do we play so narrow?

I don't believe 3 at the back is effective at any level unless you have at least 2 of the 3 who are fairly quick. Our local rivals have got it right. A solid back 4 is working for them. No fancy tactics, no pretty football. Just difficult to score against. They won't be able to do it every game throughout the season as yesterday proves but it's put points on the board. Chester have kept a clean sheet in 3 out of 22 games. That means our strikers have to score at least two each game to give us a chance of 3 points. That's some pressure at any level. If you don't concede, then there's a point.

The one thing I'll say in criticism of Marcus and it's the only thing I'm less than pleased about is that he's gone out, brought in several players, yet we are still absolutely shocking at the back, we've brought in Jordan Archer, big CF - agree we needed him. But what's the point with Slew, and Zanzala and this other lad he said he was keen on bringing in? We need a couple of centre backs who are mobile Halls, McCombe and Gough/LRT are a defensive train wreck. Our goals conceded column was a disgrace before yesterday, it's the stuff of nightmares now. Is there nobody a couple of divisions below who can come in similar to Astles when we got him in from the Vics? Are there no natural wide men with a bit of pace and skill who could do a job?

Flippin Heck Rio - that's one way to make a grey, drizzly Monday morning even more depressing!!
Haven't summoned up the nerve to watch the goals on TV yet as I suspect they'll make pretty embarrassing viewing!

They are shocking highlights almost as shambolic as the team itself they portray Chester as having 80% of the play and missed some of the Daggers goals 😮

Didn’t show the cards or the contentious refereeing decisions & missed two of the goals. That’s nearly as embarrassing as the result.

To be fair, those highlights are just filmed by a fan in the stands, probably on a mobile phone. Nothing to do with the club.

The third goal is so bad it's untrue. What on earth is that from McCombe? If he was a Dagenham player there you'd have said it was a beautiful deft touch through to the striker.

Cheek’s celebration must be the most non-League of non-league things I’ve ever seen. Doing the ‘ssssshhhhh’ gesture to a group of school kids is probably the most embarrassing celebration of all time. What a complete loser!
