With it being the big day tomorrow, I may as well start the match thread a little bit earlier instead. I still have not recovered from yesterday’s horror show, which was beyond disgraceful. Anyway, our match on Boxing Day at home to Guiseley is another crucial game for us. Sadly, I do think that survival is beyond the reach of us now with us 6 points adrift. Also, I won’t be too shocked if Guiseley do manage to beat us. I have just posted on another thread about how little the players would’ve prepared for this fixture. It really is a massive game, and probably our last chance for a while to attract new supporters. By no doubt there will be a healthier crowd on Tuesday, but we are crying out for our players to produce a great result, and to show some passion and desire to the fans who turn up every week regardless of results. I am looking forward to this as ever, however the players SERIOUSLY need to screw their heads on now, and perform the complete opposite than they did yesterday more often. Once again, Merry Christmas blues fans, see you Tuesday. Come On You Blues! Score: Chester FC 0-2 Guiseley Attendance: 2,032 (134 Guiseley) COYB!

0 - 4 if that absolute clown McCombe plays. I’d put that baby elephant statue which is located by the Cathedral in defence rather than him. It would be more mobile and show more passion than that sight.

Can only see a 3-0 guisley win with Rooney taking centre stage sadly time has ran out on these players and seem resigned to our fate

For the manager's and players sake, I hope there is some semblance of a performance on Tuesday because I feel it could turn a bit mutinous quite easily if Saturday is replicated. On Saturday the most entertaining thing was the gallows humour i.e the cheering when we passed the ball, the chants of "we nearly scored", "we have the ball", "we've lost the ball" etc (I'm really not sure if the players realised strength of ill-feeling in those shouts)
Guiseley, like all the others will have done their homework and know exactly how to exploit our numerous shortcomings, so, regrettably, I'm going for a 2-0 loss and on this forum a tsunami of exactly the same comments as for Halifax!

Expect a bid in January.

Afraid it's Guiseley all the way for this one 0-4. We're doomed and we might as well get used to it.

All these predictions for a home loss to guiseley. Just close us down and put me out of my misery. No christmes cheer just had enough to be honest of rubbish then rubbish and more rubbish followed by rubbish from clueless individuals. Merry Christmas to the board naturally.

Must be potentially our lowest Boxing Day home crowd for a very long time. A club like ours usually should easily attract more than 2,000 through the gate on Boxing Day (when attendances are up from normal) but I have my doubts we will get that many this year given how things are going.

After McCombe Astles and Lynch have eaten their body weight in mince pies and the rest of the squad have been on the lash for 2 days I can only predict a 4-0 loss with angry scenes at the Deva Stadium.

I’ve actually lost my season ticket. Think I might have thrown it at the Frankie Boyle lookalike who stands next to Bignut at the half time whistle.

Was that the cretin in the black Ba Humbag christmas hat, who kicked over a bin, then picked it up, then tried to throw his scarf on the pitch, didn't reach the pitch then he picked that back up too. If so he needs to be added to the list of weird supporters.

The only way I can see us avoiding another tanking if Myles Anderson is still unfit is to revert to 442 with Hall-Johnson, Jones, Astles and Gough the back 4. The midfield apart from Shaw is whoever is available although someone says Dawson needs dropping. Would probably play LRT. I don't think I've seen enough of Turnbull to pass an opinion, but he seems to be another sicknote. Up front it has to be any 2 from Hannah, Akintunde or White. It really does seem a lost cause. Guiseley will be laughing their balls off if they read this.

1-3 Guiseley. Dawson needs dropping he's been terrible regardless of if he can pick the very occasional pass out. James hasn't played all season for us, Turnbull has to start showing us why Barrow finished top half with him as a regular last season. I think if we lose we and Orient win against Dag, we are probably down.

I’m going 3-2 to us. Just got a gut feeling it’s going to be a classic and we will come out on the right side of it.

Anyone who fancies us to lose then you can get odds of 12/5 (two and two fifths to one) on Guiseley with Bet365. No one in the right mind could possibly back The Blues to win at 11/10. Odds of 12/5 if you fancy a share of the spoils.

Those odds for Guiseley sound a steal, but I won £50 betting against us 15 years ago when Davies was the manager, but it felt wrong.

It all feels a bit pointless at the moment, but a win tomorrow is still very possible; Guiseley are no great shakes either. This will most probably be the season we are relegated; if not we will have a great escape to cheer and remember. This is not the first season that I have watched a dire Chester team get relegated and won’t be the last god help us.
But I think we would be better regrouping down a division rather than hanging on looking over our shoulders all the time. We, and whatever players replace this shambles will become more positive with more victories more often leading to more confidence and more entertaining football.
So my view for tomorrow would be get behind the team, give them our support and hope we have a narrow victory to cheer as we have had at our last two home games.
Obviously if we lose it will be another kick in the proverbials, but I think most of us are already hurting, and already resigned to that. I think I’ve just persuaded myself that we can’t lose whatever the outcome of the Guiseley match as all the hope has already gone.
1-0 the blues. McCombe to score 🤪🤪🤪

It's all extremely depressing. Very little to cheer. Think we will have another tough time today. Season after season, no progress made at this level and every season a battle to stay in this league with the target seemingly 5th from bottom and with the crowds dwindling further and further every season I really worry about what the future holds. Massive turnaround needed. Sadly, our current model just isn't working at this level.
