So posters are going up around the city 1 day before the actual game 😕 Are they up yet? Like I said, went around the City Centre earlier on my lunchbreak from St John's Street up to the Market to see a man about my phone but didn't see anything advertising the game? And I had a right good look in shop windows, looking for noticeboards etc.
I'll have another nosey when I finish work around 4pm

The Operations Board advised the board to employ a CEO to alleviate the pressure on the Chair. So effectively the CEO is doing work that was previously done by the Chair (examples include dealing with Luke George's disciplinary proceedings, transfers etc), so that we are less reliant on Alan Povey who is a volunteer. So if from the outside it appears that he is "doing nothing" it's because he has absorbed work that was already being done elsewhere. That being said, I'm sure he has been tasked with additional work such as generating income and growing the fanbase, and I'm sure his performance will be assessed in due course, however it has only been 9 months so calling for him to be sacked is a bit unfair. I wonder, CTID, would you consider running for the board with a manifesto pledge of doing all of the CEO work unpaid like previous Chairs have done (hence why we went through 6 chairmen in 6 years), thus enabling the club to save circa £30k a year? I'd probably vote for you. Stockport County went into administration on his watch when he was in a similar role there. How did he get the job based on the above? With that on his CV surely his application should've gone in the bin? Suppose he gave all of his 'MD' talk at the interview I know a few Stockport fans and they hate him for his 'work' he did there. Many failed schemes to make money and a general arrogance about him. Doesn't seem much research has gone into hiring Mr Maguire. We're making a loss this year but don't worry Super Mark will be getting 100K from the Sam Hughes tribunal - Great business that Mark. Do that every year hey? Just sell a player! Only on 30K.... Is this published in the clubs accounts? Think be a bit more than that. Like yourself I know a County fan who blames him for their downfall, I also know another County fan who says he was just a scapegoat for their downfall as explained here. My comments weren't necessarily in support of his appointment nor was I for Tony Allen's appointment in response to Sychdyn Blue, I'm just arguing that we shouldn't just bin off the role of CEO and revert back to having an unsustainable model of a volunteer Chair doing all of the work for a year until they reach tipping point and step down. I can't comment on Tony Allen's work ethic because I've had no dealings with the man and I would hope there's something in place internally to review his performance, but I've been to volunteer meetings at the club at 7/8pm on a number of occasions and Mark is usually still there.

Why do we have to put up with this constant slander against anyone who works at the club, my mate said this or my mate said that it's crap. My mate I play golf with thinks he's Tiger Woods but he ain't , let's get back to talking about the football and you lads can crawl back under your rocks.

Where's Johnny Hughes, our Marketing Director? In his manifesto, I'm sure it said "Marketing is in my blood" but I haven't seen any serious Marketing initiatives since he was appointed. Is it lack of ideas, lack of budget, lack of talent? It's Friday night football. Liverpool, Everton, Man Utd and Man City fans living in Chester could easily be laser targeted on Facebook with an advert that costs pence. Adopt us as a second team, bring the family, reduced admission with your season ticket, I could go on all night. Nothing is ever lost by filling empty seats. Winds me right up! Spot on. I'm sick of people blaming and defending volunteers when this clearly isn't their department. We have paid staff, this is their job. There is 2 home games a season where they really need to pull their finger out and earn their money, they haven't done that this season. There has been some effort put into some games with the big club day out and family initiatives in the west stand but we seem to be missing the boat on what should be two huge gates for us. Not sure I agree with that. There's always more that can be done, but Wrexham and Tranmere are guaranteed to be our biggest gates even if we do nothing. It's more the Boreham Wood, Guisely, North Ferriby etc fixtures I'd like to see the boat pushed out for. I work near the Ellesmere Port Sports Village, and a women has just come into our office and literally handed out free tickets for the Phoenix game tomorrow. As some others have said, there's no point in empty seats.

I think it's a bit disappointing that the fans are asked to come up with ideas, particularly after waiting in anticipation for this pipeline to emerge.
There's thread after thread on the old DC regards a miriad of ideas plausible and not which fans@ should perhaps be signposted to.
No-one wants the club to fail, we just want to see proper accountability of those paid employees as they take from our pockets and it's only right to demand value. The LL is full which is fine but the meat and drink for this club it's it's paying customers. A full ground breeds atmosphere and breeds demand for season tickets. I can see why people see an empty ground and dwindling attendances as the club dying.
It's time for a real drive on attendances towards the end of the season as without it, the budget constraints will see us going backwards and regressing to conference north level.

Mark wanted to print the flyers in A5 which is rather small so I think they may be handed out to the public.

As a fans owned club I think well in our right to question a very well paid member of staff. He took Stockport into Administration but hey let's just keep applauding all his good work

So where are they being handed out?
Not having a pop at you Danny but I cannot believe that it has taken until less than 24hrs before our second biggest game of the season to get out into the community and advertise this game. Are we expecting people to go from town to walk down to the ground to purchase tickets?
If this had been done immediately after the Gateshead game then great. But I just can't believe it's taken a young lad like yourself to kick-start this when our chairman said weeks ago that we had lots in the pipeline to advertise and promote this game.

Only on DC, in whatever guise, would a young lad trying to make a difference get stick. Raising money for flags - humpf, what's the point. Putting up posters - pah, far too late.

I'm not giving HIM stick. I'm asking why it has taken until Danny went down there last night to advertise this game in the community. It's pointing the finger and asking the question from those paid members of staff at OUR club why it has taken until less than 24hrs to get out amongst our community. You might be happy to toe the line and blow hot air up people's arses mate but this is absolutely disgraceful!

Hello all,
I'm a Stockport fan, now living in Chester and thought I would come along to my first game tomorrow night as it doesn't clash with us.
I note it is all ticket though and it looks like if I buy a ticket it has to be collected between 10-4.
Does anyone know if I'll be able to buy online and pick up at the game or will it have to be a no go for me tomorrow?
I know it's a bit late, but I only became aware of the game last night.
Thanks.

I do hope we capitalise on this a bit better next time, you know, start planning many weeks in advance, have our marketing strategies in place ready to implement and a couple of weeks before the game we shout about it.

Should be planned as soon as those fixtures are released. Looking at which fixtures tie in with school holidays, Easter specials, Christmas and New Year, everything should be planned well in advance so that there can be no excuses. Working in conjunction with Jim Green to push the CT initiatives via the club's official media teams. It's all down to preparation. Yes fixtures may be called off or changed but all the groundwork should be done pre-season. All advertising and marketing should be planned well in advance. 24hrs before what should be one of our biggest games of the season is just beyond a farce for me. Lesson HAVE to be learnt. We cannot afford as a self funded fan owned club to keep making these basic mistakes. You can argue that as a fan owned club we feel these mistakes MORE than a bankrolled club would. We have to get this right, and that starts with the Eastleigh game.

What would be the best part of the ground for non Chester supporting fans without a ticket for the away stands to go ?

Hi Everyone, Lets hope for a cracking game of football tonight, in my opinion Chester have been the best team to visit Prenton Park this season and with a bit more of a push could have easily made the play offs, also I know of a few Tranmere fans that have bought tickets in the Home end but are going to sit there in silence ha ha. Cheers Everyone enjoy the game

Yes - let's hope the match has all the passion and drama of the last game at Prenton Park as opposed to the home fixture last season, which was surprisingly tame. Hope you enjoy it too Big Steve - not too much obviously!

Not a "snipe" but it's good commercial awareness to note how many people are asking about how/when they can buy tickets for the next all ticket game. Perhaps a note to make things a little clearer/more public.

For the last, 2 years running.,, we have been in the Johnny King Stand for the way game. 3 of our party were supporting Chester & 2 were supporting Tranmere, we were made to feel welcome & I wish you the best, for the rest of the season. After, tonight of course.
