Andy Holden wanting to be an assistant, if true, could be helpful for a Redfearn type who isn't based in the North West. Holden will have the contacts and the knowledge required whilst we don't have to restrict our managerial hunt to the local areas. The Chronicle's report says that Holden has been spotted at recent matches - I'm not sure he's been there to watch our tremendous football...

Didn’t Harrison live in Saughall? He could literally walk down the road to training.
Maybe he can bring Mike Harris with him! He knows how to run a successful football club.

Yes the manager who signed Luke George for Hartlepool, maybe he could bring him back?

The fact Harrison signed Luke George is enough to write him off for me. Says a lot about his judgement.

I think Macauley would be my choice. Harrison would not be, he’s been poor at Hartlepool.

If keeping Bignot really is off the table, then Sharps would be my choice

Cheeky little hint from MB here maybe?Say's about 50 odd second's in maybe the new boss was there watching last night.
Then again it seem's been in the dark since coming here so why the hell should he know anything now.

Sharps does not feature on Paddy Power list, do they know something and don't want to take bets on Ian being next manager.

Sharps has been at the last two home games supposedly looking at players on the opposite team plus bignot maybe hinting about the new manager in the stands....time will tell

If there wasn't a change of heart on Bignot then I would take Sharps over any of the other names mentioned. The brains behind McCarthy's fortunate run and someone who would command respect in the dressing room. I would imagine he would also be reasonably cheap as a rookie manager. Only question mark would be his knowledge of players in the North West with him being Midlands based.

Ian Sharps being appointed would instantly bring the fan base together and boost season ticket sales in my opinion. If he should apply, then he should be interviewed and offered the position following the required protocol.

I’m not saying we shouldn’t give him an interview or whatever but why are people so interested in Sharps? He’s been an assistant at National League level and a coach in League One, never been a manager, probably has few contacts and no north west knowledge as he’s based in the midlands.. just like Bignot.

It’s because when he was assisting Macca we were in good form, that form went to shit when he left so it’s not a huge leap to assume he was the cause or at least had a large impact & people are hoping that he’d be able to recapture that were he to return as manager. I agree with you though. Macauley for me.

They always seem to make a small profit each season due to their fiscal prudence and good non-footballing use of their ground.

I agree with you though. Macauley for me. Will we really know exactly what influence Sharps had? Obviously from the outside it appears he was the brains but look at Southport since CUCKCarthy went there - massively improved form and much tighter at the back whilst Walsall haven't really been pulling up trees since Sharps went there.

Sorry I'm not sold on the prospect of Ian Sharps either tbf.
He's not locally based, he has no experience of managing a football team, which isn't just about being a good coach.
Jon Mccarthy was apparently a good coach, look at how shit he was when he jumped into the hot seat.
We have to get this next appointment spot on. That means getting someone young, local, and has experience of management and delivering on a tight budget.
All of that rules Sharps out
