I think Carden or Macauley, with Gary Roberts given a coaching role, within the club. Outside bet Parkinson or Billy Heath.

Sharps is young, lives near Shrewsbury so reasonably local, so passes two of Al's criteria though has no managerial experience. Can't think of anyone who meets all of Al's criteria. Who would you favour Al?

Who would you favour Al? Phil Parkinson. But that all depends if we can pay him out of his contract and attract him to the club. Other than that I'd be looking at managers at Conference North level and below, what their records are like, where they're based, how they play football, what their previous employment history has been and if they were sacked looking at why. Like I said, can't afford to get this selection wrong.

I’m not saying we shouldn’t give him an interview or whatever but why are people so interested in Sharps? He’s been an assistant at National League level and a coach in League One, never been a manager, probably has few contacts and no north west knowledge as he’s based in the midlands.. just like Bignot. Based halfway between Shrewsbury and Oswestry I think these days. To answer another question on this thread. No Walsall do not have a sugar daddy.

It’s because when he was assisting Macca we were in good form, that form went to shit when he left so it’s not a huge leap to assume he was the cause or at least had a large impact & people are hoping that he’d be able to recapture that were he to return as manager. I agree with you though. Macauley for me. Will we really know exactly what influence Sharps had? Obviously from the outside it appears he was the brains but look at Southport since CUCKCarthy went there - massively improved form and much tighter at the back whilst Walsall haven't really been pulling up trees since Sharps went there. No of course, there’s no way to ever be truly sure is there? Some players & managers do well at one club but not another. It’s a complex business & there could be any number of factors involved in an individuals success or failure.

I would be surprised if the "Investor" didn't want some input into how the funds he or she is injecting into the club is being spent. If it were my money, I would hate to see it disappear down the drain in paying off yet another manager who I had no part in selecting
