We go again! First away trip of the season to Ashton under Lyne. Would expect us to travel in numbers for this so the lads should have plenty of vocal support. Curzon are a good footballing team and had a great win on Saturday away at Darlo. It will be another tough game with little recovery time for both teams from the weekend. I'm expecting goals in this with us coming out on top by the odd one.

Does anyone know why we are playing tomorrow when all other games are on Tuesday.

Curzon Ashton's designated home midweek games are Mondays. They've done that for a good few years I think ever since Man City started playing Champions League football.

Answer is hereThat was my first trip to Ferriby, remember them being a really friendly bunch as well so shame to see them drop again. I go to all mid week away games possible, rarely go to weekend away. So quite depressing to think how much I’ve spent not to see a win! Must be hundreds including fuel?!

By all accounts, Curzon play good football and keep the ball. Sound a bit similar to Spennymoor and that is a bit concerning ahead of tomorrow's game.
I thought the fact Spennymoor were so composed on the ball was our biggest problem yesterday. They kept hold of it, made us chase and played through the gaps between our centre backs and wing backs. I think with the 3 at the back system against more 'typical' Conf North sides who pump it long and get in our faces, we'll be okay. The concern is when teams are good enough to hold the ball, dominate our midfield two and play through the gaps.
Obviously, we're 90 minutes in so it's difficult to read too much into it but I think tomorrow will be a similar pattern to yesterday.

I remember our last game here. Curzon gave us a right hammering in what turned out to be a Championship season. A late Robbie Booth goal gave the score a bit of respectability. Curzon 3, Chester 1. To rub salt in our wounds they were to take one of our best players Brown (can't remember his first name). Was it Alex?
I think we'll do well to snatch a draw.

Alex Brown, but it was Hyde he went to, not Curzon Ashton

My mind must be playing tricks I could have sworn he went to Curzon Ashton. He certainly played for them after he left us. Manchester-based wasn't he.

Forgotten about that. If I remember rightly I don’t think it was their chairman, just a contributor to their programme. He also had a really babyish moan about the fixture between the two sides at the Deva a few weeks earlier, suggesting we were rubbish and the ref was biased.
I remember Skem’s chairman wasn’t happy we were put in this league either. It’s not an unreasonable point I suppose - new or reformed clubs should start at the bottom. I would point out though that a lot of NWCL and similar league clubs at the time didn’t even want to be promoted and that we left a gap in the pyramid by folding, so it’s not like we took anyone else’s place. Plus the NWCL were awful with us - hostile from day one and really saw their arses when we won our appeal.

That's it, think it was as well. He sounds as though he’s talking about a brand new club which we weren’t. Considering that the reason for our club’s issues were criminal you’d have thought he’d have more sympathy.

The point at the end about a club getting relegated because of us was just nonsense. We didn't affect the number of relegation places.
Anyway, perhaps important to remember that this was the view of one Curzon fan seven years ago. I don't really want to give people an axe to grind with a generally friendly enough club. Hope those who go have a good night.

Hope it’s segregated, can see 700 Blues travelling. Could go top for the first time in a long time if we win. How long has it actually been?

I’m hoping that we can really kick-off our season tomorrow night as I thought that there were some areas in our team who looked disjointed yesterday.
Curzon Ashton started there season with a really impressive result at Darlington yesterday, so we must not get too ahead of ourselves. They seem to be a bit of a bogey team as we haven’t beaten them since our reformation, but of course I really do hope that we can banish that record tomorrow. They are a side who have been involved in a fair few relegation battles in the past, although they have an experienced manager in John Flanagan who knows that club well. Although Curzon are one of the smaller clubs in this league, they boast an immaculate playing surface which will suit us a lot as we have an amazing pitch ourselves.
I really can’t wait for this game now, and it would be great if we can replicate yesterday's outstanding atmosphere which will give us a massive boost. This will be the first of many away’s for me this season so let’s hope that we can return from Ashton-Under-Lyne with three points which will see us go top of the league for the time being 😁. Bring it on! Up The Seals!!! Score: Curzon Ashton 1-2 Chester FC (Tuton, Mooney) Attendance: 868 (522 Chester) COYB!

We were the first to miss one, which is why we played Warrington away as our first fixture.

George was suspended for that game, and yes they really hammered us. Robbie Booth scored in the 93rd minute, you could say that goal was the 1 that gave us our promotion
